The buttons are on special art layers and I'm hoping to have some sort of animation used on them. There's all sorts of things I've got to sort out but that's the plan. Currently I have the two white lines on a special art layers by themselves to overlap the wheel images, HS logo & buttons on a special art layer, and the black bar is a layer in the theme so that the wheel can still fade while the bar remains constant.

The conflict I was referring to was putting the bar on a special art layer as it would overlap the info and dim it out. The objective was to have the wheel images under the bar on the main menu and info over the bar but that's not possible. The only constant on the main menu is the pointer when scrolling. The only way to resolve this was to either use the pointer or use it in every theme. In the end I chose to use the pointer when I started this thread but now I think it looks much better when I just incorporate it into the theme as a layer just like in this video.

For pride sake I must say I have more games than what's shown ;)

That is what I was thinking, and why I asked. I like my pointers, so I'd prefer not to have to get rid of them, plus all of my system themes have plenty of several empty layers.

Still trying to piece things together here and I'm using the Griffith Gothic Bold font that I found here. I'm using it for my font in HLHQ to match HyperSpin's font style 5. There's no fade animation used in this pic and I'm also working from scratch on 1920x1080 settings which I hope to translate to an animation once things are done.

I like my setup cause I can just throw background image in the artwork 1 folder in HS and it's basically a theme. Then the same image can be used for layer1 in HL when loading. Just gotta toy with my fonts, buttons, and blah blah. Throw in some creativity with the ui in Photoshop and I'm really close to done. ;)

*My folder needs some help atm and I'm gonna upload when I get something more stable or maybe even requested.

Zero keep up the great work man your stuff is shithot brother....

Thanks, I think it'll be glorious once I finally figure out all of the static elements I can place on-screen. I've already flashed out the HyperSpin logo where it spins & stops for a couple seconds but making everything work together on two special art layers is a different story.

Someone needs to update the HS layouts so we can add more than just a few layers eh looks amazing so far I will use both the psx and xbox buttons man. Just keep playing about with it you will sus it out haha.

I'm not very good with color but hopefully I can give it some when I'm finished. Never was a fan of the arrows.

I like it. I don't understand though what layout are you going with for main menu and game menu? Have you finalized it yet?

Same layout as the one in the video but also in the same style with the items like the pic in post #30. Still working on everything as usual.

Hard to really finalize anything when I don't think I'm very creative and feedback on the layout is next to nil, just haven't updated the original pic for creative purposes.

Here let me work this a little:

I like my pointers, so I'd prefer not to have to get rid of them, plus all of my system themes have plenty of several empty layers.

I rethought my design and in the next post I didn't mention it but made sure that if he was going to use this, he could use all of his custom pointers. I thought it was noticable in the image. I've got brain problems from seizures I've had which is why I post so strangely. Ehh but who cares I can't do anything about it now.

HS will never be updated as far as I'm concerned. The introduction of mp4 must have been out of some necessity somewhere but that's where the creativity plays a major factor. I ventured back to older threads where I was given advice on the placement of things in my global themes and it was good advice from creative people. I want advice from people who will actually use this for keeps at home on their setup or maybe even some good advice as two special layers is kinda hard to work with. Four layers in a theme kills when you are cut in half by box/cart. I don't need box/cart for each system but designing/releasing a global based on just box might be a disaster. The only way to know is....the people who would use it.

Hey, look feedback!!

I actually like it better on the bottom.
I especially love the info for PC games! Imo info is something that's been missing from HS. I always loved that in GameEx

On the game select screen should I have all of the button on the screen at once or transition between the two sets?

i.e.

SELECT EXIT

GENRE FAVORITES

or

SELECT EXIT GENRE FAVORITES

I like Select Exit Genre Favorites.

Don't feel bad about feedback dude. I know people cried about not having a global theme then even when I released mine there were only a handful that actually took interest...way less than the people that requested a global theme.

As far as making a boxart only theme, mine was not a disaster, but in order to make it work without headaches your best bet is to change the theme to horizontal only.

Themes and special art to test out. Themes all have the same Steam background btw as I'm trying to process things more into completion. I'm also still toying with the top bar as it's my biggest obstacle so it just says "Main Menu". I've also uploaded my Main Menu.ini if anyone needs my special art settings. Their simply x=512, y=384 though.

Tip: Disable the SpecialA1 and see what that looks like although it does come into play during HyperLaunch.

My attempt at an exit screen. Hope you like it. It's the same screen as post #34.

I was digging around and here was a global style I threw away. I did this back in 2012 but the concept was to have the video overlay in the center frame but also the wheel image would display the users top 5 games from that system. It was a good horizontal style setup but I lost interest somehow. Just thought I'd post it and I uploaded the messy little psd here: /Upload Here/zero dreams/PSD (Photoshop Documents)/Old Global.7z

Amazing work dude. Missing some systems though. How do I create info for systems like atari and such? Just want to add name and dates like you have. Downloaded adobe flash cc and I don't know how to make edits to the swf. I think the text is in shape 2.

Can we add a description to the main menu systems so we don't need to worry about swf? How do I go about making the system description if that's not possible with the systems u r missing?

Thanks

Edit: it looks like the shapes are bitmaps which leads me to believe that I could just create artwork 5 for my themes etc and just include bit mates of open text instead of swf files for the system info which leads me to the next question... How did you get the font? I'm using paint.net and would like to type in X system name and date and use that matching font that's i. The hyperspin wheel. Know how I could do that?

Systems I interested getting the bmp are

Atari 2600, atari 5200, atari 7800, atari jaguar, atari lynx, bandai wonderswan, capcom cps3, colecovision, dice, future pinball, ms dos, mugen, nintendo ds, gameboy, gb advance, gameboy color, virtual boy, scummvm, sega game gear, snk neo geo color, visual pinball, and zinc

Basically I have the horizontal bar with special artwork all set up. Just need the system info added to the main menu to make things uniform, btw I kept the theme. Etc as it. Was rather than gutting everything.... Got any tips for my creation of these?

@ ninja2bceen

Sorry but everything's a mess right now, filtering through three different hard drives. Here's what I remember though.

Everything is done in Photoshop and Flash. I use a 1920x1080 canvas in Photoshop and Griffith Gothic Bold as the font. All images are finished and saved from Photoshop as 1920x1080 png. To display these images correctly in HyperSpin, you need to import them into Flash and change their properties to 1024x768, export to swf and it will resize properly.

When it comes to the actual info I used, I tried to verify my info between three different sites so that hopefully my info was accurate. I know I started merging bar and info images but let me know if I should scour my drives for another bar image for you.

Thanks zero. I'm really just looking for the artwork 3s for the following systems. I couldn't find ur themes for these systems but I've just been taking the artwork 3s from each of ur themese cuz that's where the system description and date displays. Do u have these handy by chance? I don't have photoshop but I downloaded a trial thing for shockwave editing and found out that wont help cuz the shapes rant actually text, they are pics. I was hoping for text so I could just type over new names.

I think worste case is say u have a way to copy the font of what the other words are in the themes and save a template so I could just type new words to match the systems and create my artwork 3s. Ur examples that u already created would be amazing though if they are handy. I got all of the ones I could find from ui though these I could find... Do u have these system themes available (artwork 3s are what I'm after)? Thanks!!!

Hi I just tried to save artwork 3 as a png and it showing now no system description. Does the theme that has shockwave added to it make any png void? Meaning I'm surprised that after adding system description to artwork3 it should have the same populated as if I had the shock wave.

Kind of frustrating ;-) the system description and the bezels are what i have left. Do u think its possible to send me ur themes associated with the system wheels themes. Thanks!

Just for kicks I experimented to see how things looked with this incorporated into gibbawho's unified themes, but I felt it threw off the balance a little too much. Of course, everything still looks great in the theme Zero is building around it. If anyone's interested, here are some screens I used to compare the results. Opinions welcome.

Looks great. I'm not solely after revamping my themes though these look good. I'm more after getting system descriptions added to my themes. I've tried creating artwork 3 for each themes but that's not working probably cuz they are png and these themes have artwork 3 as shockwave files.

Can someone create for me the artwork 3 files in these themes for the following systems so u see the year, company and stem in the bottom left? Or maybe someone can walk me through it so I can knock it out myself. Thanks
