It works perfect now!

Just put all those rar files in Hyperspin folder and it was 100%!

I really feel so stupid right now... LOL!

Hi all, I hate to revive an old thread, but I'm having trouble setting SSF up. I'd like to add that I've learned a ton over the last few months, and I've set up emus including MAME, Daphne, NES, SNES, Dreamcast etc. So I feel I'm pretty versed in Hyperlaunch, etc. I'm not sure what I'm missing here with this emu. That said:

- I'm using version SSF_012_beta_R4.

- I'm using the latest module (v2.0.9 as of this writing).

- I have set up my DTlite drive in Hyperlaunch HQ (3rd party tab under global settings). DTlite has been set up with two virtual drives: LT and SCSI.

- I'm able to run the SSF emu when I first A) Mount cue/bin game in LTlite. B) Open SSF.exe. (no controls however - see below)

- Once the image has been mounted, I am able to launch the game in Hyperlaunch. However, if I don't mount the game first in DTlite it doesn't launch. I also noticed that if I mount a game and then run it in Hyperlaunch, if I choose another game it launches the previous game (that's currently mounted).

My 3 main issues: (2 solved, 1 remain)

1) How/where do I set the BIOS paths as outlined in the module instructions: "You MUST set the path to the 3 different region BIOS files in HLHQ module's settings." **SOLVED** I found it by clicking on the left list and selecting the system (Sega Saturn) and then going to the modules tab and selecting the module. I then clicked "edit global module settings" where the 3 Bios settings need to be set. I've tested all regions and they all work great! (see screenshot below)

2) How do I check that DTlite is being executed (if at all). Any log files somewhere? **SOLVED** I found it by clicking the same settings mentioned above for the BIOS paths and there is a box labeled "CDDrive" which was blank. By trial and error SDDrive 2 worked for me. (see screenshot below)

3) I am unable to redefine my controls using the GUI in SSF. When I click on the "redefine" button a tiny box appears and I cannot expand it. I can't do anything (only ALT-F) works to exit. (see attached screenshot). Is there another way of defining the controls directly through an .ini file somewhere? **SOLVED** (kinda) I uninstalled vjoy and the problem went away. However, to my dismay I now realize that I still cannot remap my controls for my buttons because they are characters that the SSF emu doesn't like. For example: button 1 = \, button 2 = /, button 3 = 0, button 4 = ', button 5 = [, button 6 = ]. I can't even set the start button to be the number 1, since you cannot use and numbers for input either. Only letters! WTF? I wish I had known that before I had invested my time into this emu. Which leads me to my final question: Is there another way of defining the controls directly through an .ini file somewhere? For now my workaround is using my player 2 controls (which are all letters) for my player 1 assignments for this emulator. So I can only play 1 player games, but I use my player 2 controls to do it. The very first time I run ssf-it seems to launch the window fine.

If I exit out-and try it a second time I always get this error:

IDirect3DDevice9:Clear() error.

File: ./Direct3D9.cpp

Line: 2208

Function: Direct3D9::_Flip

I have direct x11-and even uninstalled and reinstalled my video card. This allowed Yabause to work-but ssf STILL won't work.

I don't see anyone else with this error come up-so what am I doing wrong here?

I got an: AMD Radeon HD 6450

Someone please help! :)

Actually just one question. I notice that the graphics settings automatically change in SSF. I notice that there is a Highest Setting in SFF.ini. Anyone know how to force a better resolution and stretch 16:9?

Im running the latest R4 build.

Ahhhh i spoke too soon!!

All my images are unzipped and in there own folders. They are all .bin & .cue.

Everything works fine in HLHQ.

However when i try to go into the saturn emulator in HS it immediately crashes out with this:

I think your problem is related with rom directory or rom extension.

Yeah i know but how do i change rom_only to false?

OK my games now display.

For anyone else having same issue open HyperHQ -> Wheel Settings -> Sega Saturn -> Navigation\Themes -> Wheel filters = uncheck all.

OK so another issue!!

I am using the region free bios as described in the module notes. It boots the USA games fine but the Europe games just have black screen. Any ideas on this one?

OK so the regionfree bios does seem to be working now - just3d lemmings is broke - no biggie.

So far everthing is working for me as well. I'm working on getting the AHK Keymapper to work. I managed to get a PC game working (VVVVVV) so now that I've learned, I'm going to see if I can apply it to the Saturn emulator controls. Fingers crossed!

I use xpadder on every emulator and it works just fine.

I've done like said by tutorials and got no problems except for PCGames (wrong setup at first try).

As nobody has replied, Xpadder is not needed for the ipac. It converts joypad button presses etc to key presses, which is what ipac sends anyway as it is a keyboard encoder.

I'm still having an issue even after reading through all of this. The .bin file is mounted in DT, and the .cue file (when in .txt form) looks like this:

Sorry, I'm a little confused by your post. Are you trying to get this game running in Hyperspin/hyperlaunch? If so post your Hyperlaunch log set to troubleshooting level.

No, I haven't downloaded Hyperlaunch. Reading through this thread, it doesn't seem that I have to. What are the benefits?

Back to my issue, it's like the directory for the game.bin file is wrong, like SSF isn't going to Daemon Tools Lite to load the game, hence the CFile error. Maybe? This programming stuff is moderately new for me. But I did find this from post #47 on page 5:

; If you keep getting the CD Player BIOS screen, you have the CDDrive variable set wrong below

; If you keep getting the CD Player screen with the message "Game disc unsuitable for this system", you have the incorrect bios set for the region game you are playing and or region is set wrong in the emu options. Or you can just turn off the BIOS below.

This relates to the media player I was talking about in my original post. I think my CD Variable may need changed. How do I go about doing that? Like I said, the game.bin file is mounted on Daemon Tools, and SSF.exe opens to the media player upon a double-click. The problem is right-clicking the game.bin file in the SSF folder, choosing Open with, then clicking SSF.exe.

No, I haven't downloaded Hyperlaunch. Reading through this thread, it doesn't seem that I have to. What are the benefits.

The benefits being, more people will be able to help you. Those posts on page 4 are from 2011 so things are very different.

Currently your only way to get SSF working is to look through old posts or post a question on the SSF forum, if there is one.

Ok, well thanks anyways. I guess that all there is to do now is to start completely over and use this tutorial. It seemed to have worked for most, but not perfectly for some, so I'll come back if I need help.

On this site, Hyperlaunch v3.0.0.9 is the latest version. Should I get that, even with most posts regarding v2.7?

You should start with HyperLaunch (Full Install) package. Also grab the HyperLaunch (Media Pack). Once those are all in place, do a full GIT update to grab the latest and greatest HyperLaunch and modules. Below are some helpfull links:

I was just settling down to a nice Belgium Bun and a Cuppa Tea, after a mornings editing. I thought catch up on a few posts, DAMN! I had to read yours. I really did Laugh out load and nearly choked, nice one.

Move down to Australia and pick up a real language. ;)

If you'd have me, I certainly would, hey I can crash at Langers place ;) but I wouldn't get through the inspection process, being too old for Australia. :)

I'm actually making it more difficult and frustrating for people to set up, if they have to get through translating and tuning in to my babbling, droning voice.

Hello, can anyone post his Pad mappings for wired 360Pad?

The problem I have is that input mapping fails because my joystick is too sensible and when pushed UP it maps DOWN, LEFT, etc in a row, so key mapping is a nightmare and for the life of me I can't get what the codes means on the settings if I were to edit them:
