guyverjay Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 anybody having trouble getting player 2 control to work in bluemsx?
showstopper Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 So I have this working for Sega 32X. However how do the config files work? I set the save to false and created a core setting with scanlines, however when I load from HLHQ it seems to use the default config. I would like to setup each emulator individually if I can. How to update HyperLaunch
Fromlostdays Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 That's what this guide is about, really. You need to set up your config, save it, and then rename it to Sega 32x.cfg and leave it in the same folder. If its named right, Hyperlaunch will always prioritize that config. However, RetroArch stand alone may not. So the best thing you can do is: Open RetroArch save a config: I forget which core but it'll save something like genesis_plus_libretro.cfg (Don't mess with any configuration that has a DLL in the title. Leave those alone.) Rename the above config to Sega 32x.cfg. (If you want, you can even duplicate this config for every system you want to use and rename it to that system. Eventually you're going to have a config named as the system name for every system you want to use.) Now launch a game through Hyperlaunch. Open the RGUI and just double check that Hyperlaunch/Retroarch is using the right config. If it is, this is the point when you can turn "save config on exit" back on, and that will mean that any changes you make ever while launching through hyperlaunch will get saved to the Sega 32x.cfg. Bear in mind that RetroArch itself will not launch these configs standalone. Once you have all the configs working through HL for all systems, that's when you can really just launch a game through Hyperlaunch, do edits, and then let it autosave. Walter:beerglass:

I was naming it Sega 32X not Sega 32x Now working! How to update HyperLaunch
showstopper Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Another problem! Anyone got PSX working with this emulator. My images are .bin and .cue is that the issue. I load the mednafen core then select the cue and it immediately quits out. How to update HyperLaunch
Fromlostdays Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Yeah, its easy as hell to set up. Do you have your bios files in the system folder? Walter:beerglass:
gigapig Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 The core supports cue etc and I'm I have bin\cue. It set is just the same as all the others set up wise. If your still having trouble post your HL log.
gigapig Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 A few other things that spring to mind. Your cue file, once opened, does that have the correct info that matches the naming? Also a long shot but something to be aware of, the module can be fussy about the extension order. For instance 3DO, the 4DO core only supports iso and that extension needs to be the first in the list; but I have another install of RA for that system.
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Things to remember with the setup of PSX on RA- -BIOS files... these all need to be in the correct place and labeled EXACTLY as requested. -Ensure you have the up to date Module... it makes things much more easy with other systems. -In the Global setting of RA, dont you have to make sure you have either .bin or .cue the right way around. Its been a while but I do remember that bug. -7z on or off? Are your games compressed? Simply Austin's YouTube
showstopper Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Im just trying to run it directly at the moment, so not through HLHQ. I load the core. Try to load the .cue and immediately the emulator quits. In Retroarch\System i have: scph5500.bin scph5501.bin (i didnt have this bios but i read that you can use 7003 and rename it) scph5502.bin Any other ideas? Everything in RA seems to be working well. EDIT - I know the rom is OK as I used to use ePSX emulator with the same roms. How to update HyperLaunch
gigapig Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I have just tried loading a cue from an extracted game (see screen for which one) and it loads OK. I have the 3 bios files in the system folder. Here's my config file. Sony PlayStation.zip
guyverjay Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 From my experience some of the PSX bios files floating around are dodgy, took me a while to find ones that all work http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=56&sid=907e765c8363f7e675ec612960485566
guyverjay Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 anybody having trouble getting player 2 control to work in bluemsx? anyone? *sob*
Styphelus Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I had a weird issue with the Sega CD where the files are bin and cue. Basically I had to move the cue extension to the end of the extensions supported (in the Emulator setup screen in HLHQ). for some reason, having it before the bin extension would cause it to hang. Can't explain it. But most likely it's your rom set. Try a different one. 90% of the time it's a bad rom.
showstopper Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'll try the new bios files when i get home but to me it looks like RA is quitting even before it gets to that stage. It quits literally as soon as I click run on the game. Also these bios files and ROMs all work with ePSX? EDIT - OK so it still quits straight away - is there not a log i can enable for RA? If i try to run a game from HLHQ i get this error: Any ideas? How to update HyperLaunch

gigapig Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I've seen that recently with someone else. That file isn't created until you run a game, so if this is the first system you have set up then you may need to set up a different system. Here is the thread.
Fromlostdays Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 RetroArch should automatically generate that configuration file, but different versions put it in different places and different versions of the HL module have slightly different spellings and look for it in different places.... But ultimately, yeah, what guyverjay said. That file is generated either in the retroarch root directory or inside the retroarch/config folder. It's looking for it in the root... which means your module is probably out of date. Either way, it doesn't hurt to make two copies of the file and leave one in config folder and one in root. Unfortunately I doubt this is why RetroArch standalone isn't working for you. The next thing you need to try is a reinstallation of RetroArch, place bios files, and try to launch. (Don't delete your old install, this new install will help troubleshoot weather its your RA version, or configs that's causing your problem.) Walter:beerglass:
showstopper Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 OK getting somewhere. So I got the games to load in RA now. It was an error with ALL(!) my .cue files. I also have it working from HLHQ now too. This was my 3rd system in RA so not sure why that file wasn't there before?! Anyway some of my games load, well they show the Sony screen then it is just a black screen and I can here the sounds but no pic. So it's either my ROMs or the emulator. (Bomberman - Party Edition is the game that isnt showing video) Thanks for all your help guys! How to update HyperLaunch
marxkemp Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Had some tips ready in the retroarch mess bios 5200 thread but decided to put them here: For Shaders start with crt-easymode.cg For Overlays start with those from Nosh Menu Options - Settings View and turning Collapse Subgroups on. That changes it back to the old layout. Threaded video sacrifices a bit of lag for smooth framerate by decoupling video rendering from the main thread. Anyway, usual suspects when you have bad performance: - rewind, if you really want rewind increase your granularity, it's quite demanding - hard gpu sync 0 - uncalibrated refresh rate - multi pass shaders, most will not tax RA enough to cause noticeable slowdown but shaders like royale can - audio latency set too low for your system
dougan78 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I was cranking along swapping systems over in utter bliss then needed to use the mednafen cores and all of them appear to cause retroarch to crash. Updated to latest nightly cores, retroarch, redist. Same thing. Anyone else have issues? Am i missing something? I was missing looking at core info to see if it needed a bios. Lynx needs that as do others. Yes i replied to myself because i can.
showstopper Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 He could be talking about the yellow text that pops up, which needs to be toggled off in the retroarch settings directly Sorry how do you hide the yellow xinput notification when retroarch loads a game? How to update HyperLaunch
Cybersnuff Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 @marxkemp yes Nosh`s Bezel for Retroarch are amazing and Im adding them one after another... I have made now a cfg for every system (not every core) and added all the easier ones from the nomal game systems... But have not found a way how to center the screen in the Handheld ones like Wonderswan, Game Boy and... The Screen is always in the top left corner and not inside the Bezel... Do you know where I must make changes so that the screen is displayed in the Bezel? Very important for all is that you must add the Bezel Config File not the Bezel itself in Hyperlaunch or in the Retroarch System Config.... If someone knows how to center the screen or to change the size of the screen would be awesome so I can add these Bezels also...
marxkemp Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Euhm i believe i set it to custom and turned of the force ratio or integer ratio..then you can set the ratio per pixel..thats how i moved in the playfield into the bezel
bma1984 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I use 4:3 PAR setting in the RetroArch Display Configuration, which has worked great for every system that I have set up.
