barakawins Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I set up hyperspin on my laptop. Have colecovision and atari 2600 working no problem. I tried to copy the same hyperspin folder to my pc with a crossover cable. Hyperspin comes up but the games don't run. Anyone know why? Emulators come up, wheels come up but the games don't. Do I have to redo this all?
barakawins Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Yes. I copied the entire hyperspin folder directly to my c: drive including all roms. It won't run. Any files I should be checking? It should just run.
Climber Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 The source drive was also c? is so then i dont know otherwise you must change the new drive to the same letter as the source for the proper paths.
32assassin Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 you don't have to redo anything, all you need to do is make sure your emulators can run OUTSIDE of Hyperpin make sure you can load a game directly through the emulator make sure you can load a game trough Hyperlaunch
Aorin Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I copied HS once for my older brother, it didn't start and other day we figured out that I hided some files from HS main folder so I could find what I wanted quickly, I hided Dll's and other files that HS needs to run, but these files were not copied to my brother HDD, you could re-download HS installation and make sure all files are OK, I think your problem is simple to solve. rfancella Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Someone wrote a script to change all the drive paths in HyperSpin and HyperLaunch. It was a while ago, and I didn't save the script or the post. Does anyone have it or know where to find it? This has come up a couple times in the last month and it would be nice to have that post handy. In the mean time, i'll keep looking. Thanks, Ron Code Monkey and all around Command Line geek!If you like what someone has said or done for you, be sure and 'Thank' them. And if they changed your life, send them a Beer!
Climber Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Wow that would come in handy, I keep having to change my drive letter to my source drive when i copy my setup. If you find the script please let me know where, so i can save it to my hs utilities folder.
Styphelus Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I just moved mine to a new drive. All I did was go through all the ini and config files and change the paths manually. Took me about 30 min or so.
derekablackburn Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 A quick powershell select string could take care of the settings file in a pinch.
DrMaxwell Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Do a replace string and just change drive letters that way. Takes about a second. keltoigael Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Something to think about, some emulators write their settings to the registry of windows. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGAi8dJWR4bpg1oRfItcPCw
Fromlostdays Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 ^^^ A lot of emulators do this. They store stuff in app data without you even realizing it. Depending on which emulator, you may have to do a quick reinstall. Walter:beerglass:
