A general discussion but what do you guys think are the most impressive games on a Hyperspin setup Arcade Cabinet?

So far from what I have seen:-

- Ultra Street FIghter 4
- Mortal Kombat 9

- Outrun 2

- SFX Tekken

But unfortunately I do not have them, guess they are not part of hyperspin

They are PC Games and probably available on Steam and even more probable is that they will be in the summer sale. Look out for Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition which is in the sale.

hmmm ... more input :) - so you can get a PC / steam emulator ? - i noticed that my hypersync has an option to setup pc games so I can get all the vids, themes etc.

You know... there's nothing like having old fashioned Pac-Man on there. Seriously. People freak out when they see its the actual game and not some console version. It's just cool being able to play those old games that many haven't played in years.

Yes you can setup Steam and PC games to launch from Hyperspin. I wrote up a tutorial that I'll post for you that should help you set it up.

Lots of awesome and cabinet friendly PC games:

Ultra Street Fighter IV

Mortal Kombat X

Street Fighter X Tekken

Pinball Arcade DX11 version

BroForce

Kung Fu Strike

on and on and on...

But the most awesome Steam/PC/game in general to have is: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+

It's the entire reason I even built this thing.

Outrun 2?.. Do you guys actually mean Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast?

I followed gigapig video.. Easy as hell.. I have each game in each folder.. And made a txt file exactly named as the game folder.. Make a xml within the whole pc-games and use the file extension (txt). So 50 game folders.. Will have 50 txt files (empty) ones fot the xml creation.. ;) then add the module pclauncher... And setup each game.. The exe location.. The close process.. Bla bla.. For me it was rather easy

You know when I started the words dummy files and empty text files were completely alien to me, wtf. I had no idea what people were talking about, but once it is explained or tou watch it then it does make sense.

yeah, but you know what we mean

Actually I didn't. I went looking for an Outrun 2, but after reading up realized it was for consoles, but they didn't make a PC version with that name.

I'm gonna need a bigger boat! ...

So maybe I was being a little optimistic buying a 120g SD harddrive for the operating system and a 1tb Harddrive for roms be enough. So If I was to include PC games I will atleast need another 1tb drive. Its a shame Mame is so bloody big!

The worst part of the PC game setup for me was that the "rom settings" window never shows your games unless you drag the window down.  I went there a thousand times to try to complete the process as told and displayed in screenshots by other people, only to find nothing.  Then finally someone said, oh you have to drag the window down, because it's small by default.  Having an important window for completing the setup process not show anything on opening is just crazy lol.

I'm assuming you're referring to the MAME CHDs at 350GB and not the roms (around 50GB split set)... Unless you are using the CHDs for seeding / upload at PD (which they are great for) it might be worth checking which ones you actually need to keep... Eg. The only CHD game I play is Killer Instinct but I keep the set for seeding.

if you buy another HDD, look at 2TB and 3TB sizes... Not sure if same everywhere but here they are way cheaper per GB and save you filling your PC case :)

I'll also be checking out PC game setup soon... Steam sale is on... Just bought pacman DX especially for HS :) ... Hopefully a big discount on Ultra SF4 is coming :/

So to keep size down should I be searching for 7z pc games to run on hyperspin ? and then bascially listen to gigapig video on youtube for the correct way to serup ?. hmmm I wonder if anyone is sharing a pc gaming experience with all vids, artwork etc like the other emulators

Right now I have a 1tb main drive and a 2tb rom drive and it's to little. I'll be replacing my 2 with a 4tb for a total of 5tb's. Hopefully that will do it.

There is a lot of good artwork out there for PC/Steam games but not like other systems as it's a very big library. There 61 themes in the downloads section and there may be others on the ftp.

But your starting from scratch so you can add them one at a time, so search for artwork as you install them.

You mentioned 7z, you won't be using that as nearly all PC games need to be installed. If you had a large Steam libraey I would suggest using the app "Steam Wheel Creator" which will create an xml, wheel art, theme and video for you.

Ultra SF4 already WAS discounted something like 50% a week or two ago.

It is right now too as part of the big Steam Summer Sale.
