thcdgaf Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Looking for compatibility list for SSF figure out a way to get near perfect games to play using different versions of ssf to do this don't us RLUI, but i'm assuming its the same as HLHQ, And you only have to do this for games that your having problems with, some games just require some settings changed. Goto Global Then select Emulators Tab Click + Add Emulator a Window will pop up in there Type in the Name of your SSF Version i do mine like this "SSF 09 R3", Then select the path to the version of SSF, then select the Module which is SSF. Then select Sega Saturn, then Select the Games Tab, Next click on tab Alternate Emulator in there click the + Add Button this will list your games, select the game for the alternate version of SSF and a window will pop up Select the System Sega Saturn, Select the Emulator path, then select the Emu Info you just created SSF 09 R3 and so on. THANX tonycrew for this infomation
JoeC3109 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I actually have a settings file that has the specific version of the emu I use for each game, based on a compatibility list that doesn't exist anymore unfortunately. I can post it later when I'm home

Aorin Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 If I recall correctly, DOOM and Virtua Cop aren't playable in SSF as well. Aorin
thcdgaf Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 tried doom its unplayable to me not virtual cop yet
cowbells Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I've always had problems with Astal. I can load the game, but I get this: Anybody have an idea of what this is? I've tried multiple SSF versions, multiple disc images. This problem is with 0.12 Beta R4
cowbells Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Ok, I got it. SSF v0.12 Beta R1 is making this game run flawless for me now. First time I've been able to get it. I thought I tried that one before, but I must not have. Whooop! Edit: Man, now I can't get it to load in Rocket Launcher. This game has always given me problems. Oh well, at least I can play outside of HS now.
Aorin Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Didn't try that one, but when I do I'll already know what to do because you've already sorted that. Aorin
JoeC3109 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 You have to have "SH1 Cache" enabled from what I remember regarding Astal. Looks like you at least got it starting though, so I doubt thats the problem
Styphelus Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Thanks for this list. Went to try out SSF and got a black screen. It was working fine last time I tried it. Man oh man. Why do these things happen???
cowbells Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 You have to have "SH1 Cache" enabled from what I remember regarding Astal. Looks like you at least got it starting though, so I doubt thats the problem Yep! The setting is actually SH2 Cache The problem I'm having is that the game launches and plays fine outside of Rocket Launcher. When I launch with RL, I get a black screen. This is the weirdest thing, if I mount the game and open that same version of ssf, I can see that RL has messed with the settings (for example, after launch I can't uncheck SH2 Cache anymore) and it still doesn't work, but if I open the settings, close them, close the emulator and relaunch it, it works every time. Rocket Launcher is doing something in the module to screw up me playing Astal as far as I can tell. Does anyone have this game launching fine using Rocket Launcher? Btw, I'm going through all my Saturn games to see if they launch. Most games appear to work, but some are giving me problems. For the problematic games, I'm simply checking this compatibility list: http://www.segasaturn.org/ and using the recommended emulator version. So far, everything I've tried has worked fine once I make an alternate emulator. I'll post a guide on how to make every game work when I'm done. So far, everything has been hunky dory except Astal. Best I can get is the messed up screen launching from RL. I've known this was a problematic game for awhile now. If someone can help me with that one, I'd really appreciate it.
gigapig Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Thanks for this list. Went to try out SSF and got a black screen. It was working fine last time I tried it. Man oh man. Why do these things happen??? Windows 10 or DT Lite 10? I had to change the drive letter in RLUI from L to M due to a change since installing DT 10. I also had to set "Use SCSI" to false and then games load. Now I have no sound at all from SSF, but I will work on that tomorrow.
gigapig Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Cowbells. I don't get those graphics issues, I can play the game briefly but it does crash for some reason. Some thing else to figure out.
cowbells Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Cowbells. I don't get those graphics issues, I can play the game briefly but it does crash for some reason. Some thing else to figure out. Hmm... wonder if it's because I'm on Windows 7. I'm going to come back to this issue later. I read on another forum though that you can enable SH2 Cache, load Astal, create a savestate, then disable SH2 Cache. Next time you load, you can load the savestate and the game will work without crashing. I found this works for me too, outside of RL at least. With Beta R1, I've had zero problems with the game at all though. My only issue is launching the game from Rocket Launcher, but I'll look at it later.
JoeC3109 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I found that whenever I got a black screen it had to do with the wrong CD Drive number set up in rocket launcher. Sounds like you probably tried that already tho. Glad you mentioned that site, it was down for awhile so I wasn't sure if that list would be gone for good. Great news that it's back
Styphelus Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Windows 10 or DT Lite 10? I had to change the drive letter in RLUI from L to M due to a change since installing DT 10. I also had to set "Use SCSI" to false and then games load. Now I have no sound at all from SSF, but I will work on that tomorrow. Windows 10 and DT Lite 4.49. No SCSI installed. Maybe it's time to update DT? I was always scared because I heard the RL would not work with the new DT. DT will load the game, however SSF won't load it. I was able to load a game only once by fluke. Not sure what I did. 99% of the time I get a black screen or a DirecX9 error. DX9 is installed. No issued with DX9 games so I'm assuming it's not that. EDIT: I'll be damned. Changing the drive letter to M worked, Still using DT Lite 4.49. Why would that make a difference? Also, I do have full sound as well. Thanks Gigapig once again for your help.

SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I was told that Daemon tools 6.1 works fine with Windows 10 and SCSI drives? Simply Austin's YouTube

Spent most of the morning dicking around with this (Mainly DT Lite which you can continue to use version 4 with windows 10 as long as "Use SCSI" is set to false) and it's now working without crashing. It may have had something to do with my sound issues which I've switched to Optical instead of HDMI Here are my SSF ini files if you want to try them, you'll just need to backup your own and set controls. cowbells Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Awesome! Thank you! I'll take another look at it tonight. I'm in the process of testing every game still. So far, I have 357 games launching just fine with one single SSF emulator set up. Many more that I've tested didn't launch or had buggy graphics or other problems in game. I'll be attempting to fix all of these issues one by one. I'll post a compatibility list for what I come up with when I'm done. I'm going through the playable Japanese games as well.
