rastan Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 perhaps off topic not exactly sure where it fits in but anyways I've been thinking about getting a new contoller for my setup... currently using one of those generic USB ps2 type controllers which is cool but I'm looking for something that will be more PC game friendly as PC games are a pain in the ass with the amount buttons that need to be mapped... with my current controller it has 14 buttons and the two analogs... tho I've never been able to map the second analog. I was thinking wireless and possibly the Xbox controllers but I think they probably have the same amount of buttons/controls?
THK Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Xbox controllers are great, until you want to use the d-pad If you've ever used controllers on consoles and think about what you're favorite is, get the newest iteration of that. No idea about the Steam controller though ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Avar Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I use Bliss-Box and recommend it to everyone, which also opens up a LOT of options for using controllers with more buttons. That being said, if you want a standalone USB controller you'd be hard-pressed to find a better solution that a XBox or PS3/4 controller.
Black Hazor Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 or buy all the controllers for all the systems and use the bliss-box . I would say thats the best thing to do but also one of the expensivest ones... Edit: 2 Idiots - same Idea
Avar Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Yeh I've made a conscious decision to do just that actually and it is not cheap @_@
Black Hazor Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I actually have all the controllers (as I am a collector) but havent bought the box yet since u cant get the cables on their own right now and for me it makes no sense to order 2 times. I will just wait till I can buy everything in 1 bulk.
Jdubbs Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 xbox360 controller, plug and play works with just about everything. They are a little cheap though, I'm on my third over about 3-4 years now

hardcorehubz Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Wii U Pro Controller, hands down. Tried plenty and this is the one i've been happiest with. Plus the battery life is insane!

I will just wait till I can buy everything in 1 bulk.it comes with like 13 cables. You will be able to buy cables in bulk at an unknown time, who knows if you will even get that chance as it's just the dude doing it Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
Avar Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 No they're factory made in bulk, it's just to keep the cost down Bliss-Box had to order them in that kit orientation. There's a good chance there's a new Bliss-Box Kickstarter coming down the pipe though which might be a good opportunity to pick up cables and there's sometimes standalone and rare cables available on the Bliss-Box forums.
kylecp1979 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I use a 360 controller myself. a lot of pc games are just plug and play and some emulators are setup for it too like mame, mess, and retroarch.
progets Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 xbox360 is by far the most compatible with everything. You're running Microsoft Windows and they have made everything about it play best with the Microsoft xbox360 controller. If you want easy of use and minimal mapping I don't think there is a better option.
Oldgamer51 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 ive only had 2 360 controllers for my pc i got a second one when i found out you can hook up a wireless controller for the pc i was in happy yay no more wires! so i vote 360 gamepad for your gaming
damageinc86 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I use 360 gamepads for most PC games, and genuine console controllers for NES/SNES/Gamecube/Wii/Playstation with USB adaptors. Takes a while to map all the controllers, but as long as I don't switch the usb ports, i'm pretty much set from then on out. Love genuine controllers, and as long as I don't have to use the d-pad a lot, the 360 is great. xbox one was also pretty good, but I'd like an official wired version of it.
SkyHighGam3r Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I primarily use USB Sega Saturn pads in my setup for older games, and then switch to an Xbox One controller when I need an analogue stick. That being said, The "Xbox One Elite Controller" has 4 extra paddles on the back for input. No idea if they actually function as 4 extra buttons though through some kind of keymapper.
Retro Goonie Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I'm currently using the Nes30 Pro. Cool little controller that can be used wired or wirelessly, with a generic wireless USB adapter, and has a built in rechargeable battery. Updated the firmware with first use and the plug and play works as good as an XBOX controller. Great D-pad with 10 buttons...12 if you count clicking down on the analogue sticks! My Artwork! Carts: GCE Vectrex 2D Carts (Realistic Version) 1.0, GCE Vectrex 2D Carts (Vector Version) 1.0 Pointers: NEC PC Engine Pointer(s), NEC SuperGrafx Pointer(s), Sega SG-1000 Pointer(s), Sega TecToy Pointer(s), Sega Mega Drive Japan Pointer(s), Nintendo 64 Pointer(s)

I almost bought a couple of these, but they don't have z/c buttons. They really need to make a Sega Saturn style one. THAT would be the ultimate Retro Controller.
Retro Goonie Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I almost bought a couple of these, but they don't have z/c buttons. How do you mean? Similar to the Gamecube controller 'z' button? It has 4 shoulder buttons if that's what you mean?! My Artwork! THK Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Just bought me some cheapass controllers 2x NES 1x SNES 1x Super Famicom 2x N64 Before anybody starts cursing on me, yes I know they're probably crap, but I don't care That's what happens when online shopping for a PCI-e SATA controller (so I can add a 9th & 10th drive to my rig) and drinking.... controller > controller ej ej!.... ah well, throw away cheap anyway Was thinking of at least adding a couple of Genesis/Saturn, Gamecube and maybe some PS iteration (the only original controllers I have left are 2x XB360 & 2x PS1) Anyone have some other recommendations? ..........................back with a vengeance........................
THK Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Yeah, got myself 2 of those as well for as long as I can remember ..........................back with a vengeance........................
SkyHighGam3r Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 People often don't think of the N64 as a six-button controller, but it totally is. It's one reason I'd love a modernized version of the Saturn pad like that NES-30. I wish like CRAZY I could get my Original Xbox controllers to adapt to windows 10. The one adapter I bought from Mayflash didn't do the trick because the drivers were bulit for Windows ME or some nonsnese lol.Still, I kind of like using the Xbox controller for it. Mapping the R-Stick to the C-buttons feels very intuitive to me for most games.EDIT: Of course... with the XBOX controllers, you'd still lose R1/L1... UGH... All I want is an X1 controller with Z/C buttons... why god... why is it so much to ask!?
THK Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I wish like CRAZY I could get my Original Xbox controllers to adapt to windows 10 Had a crystal original xbox with 2 crystal controllers and a 200gb hdd. It got stolen from campus when I was on vacation, fckrs left me a cable and 1 controller, so I gave it away..... grrrr^%#* ..........................back with a vengeance........................

THK Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Have these on order at the moment: 1x 1x 2x 2x 2x 1x 1x (more expensive, so waiting how it works out before ordering a 2nd) ..........................back with a vengeance........................
