maddags
Hey chris, Where did you get that shaker from! Do you have a link where I could get one or one similar And If I could also get the exact model numbers of the cree led's and the componets that you used. I also seen on that website that they have these http://www.led-tech.de/en/High-Power-Supply/LED-Profile-CoverLine-c_106_151.html . Could this be used and top mount it onto of the back box. Another question, How is it all conected to the cree leds. So the four wires one for common power and four for ground for each color. Do you have to solder them onto the board directly or is there a connector.

You have to solder some wires to the cree star-board. Check this thread for a direct shoplink to the cree led. klaus (wolfsoft.de) will order some shaker for the forums. shilmover
klaus (wolfsoft.de) will order some shaker for the forums. Hmmm. I wonder how much they would cost and how much to ship to this side of the Atlantic...
shilmover
Here is the first test of my flashers. They are not hooked up to the pinball, but are running off my laptop. These are the RGB LEDs I got from China and while they can display white, there is a bit of color bleedoff with displaying white (you can see a bit of the RGB colors off the lens refraction. Also, this is running with 5v. I am planning on running it with 12v. The resistors are 29 ohm, 5W so they should be good for the 12v too. They are currently running with no extra heatsink, but I will add those when they arrive from china. It may not be noticable in the video, but they are bright and will give you a headache if you stare right at them for a prolonged period of time... Chris, I hope its okay that I posted this in your thread. If not, let me know and I will move this post... greHfgBTtb8
shilmover
And a quick experiment hooking it up to music... There should be more LEDs hooked up and its not the greatest quality, but gives an idea... This is what my touchscreen jukebox will be doing... aRRDJpaSuVY

chriz99
I think I found the "perfect" dmd resolution for my cabinet Resizing manually the dmd (via software) causes unproportional dot matrix dots --> looks bad. I drive my 19" dmd screen @ 640x480/16bit with a doublesized pinmame dmd. It's nice and clear, but there was always a 2cm left/right black border. Now I use a 570x460 custom resolution (16bit/doublesized dmd/25%AA)... which fills my screen perfectly I love it! I use PowerStrip (http://entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm) to create custom resolutions for my dmd-screen. Works like a champ!

I will try that... maybe it can help me with my Future Pinball problem. I have my backglass set to 1280x1024, but that option is not available in Future Pinball... shilmover
I'm blind! Hooked up the LEDs to 12v (actually, 9.6v as I did not want to blow them... ) and man are they bright... I actually accidentally connected 12v into the USB on my laptop, at which point it went completely dead! Had to disconnect both batteries and wait 30 minutes until I could get it running again... LED-Wiz board is okay too! I thought I was in trouble... Anyway, here is a short video with 12v driving 3 RGB LEDs: SEXbia6PP3k Compared to 5v (same test): greHfgBTtb8 It does not look like it, but they are much, much brighter! shilmover
And a night video... terrible video, but you get the idea... Not as bright at the Cree ones, but lights up the room. WednCa4diGM Disco in my kitchen!!! WQPdo-t0wvM

Guest gstav
Yes! Shillmover, which leds are you using! Thought of pointing my setup against the player, so your brightness seemes to be perfect for me. Did you bought them on ebay? regards!
shilmover
These ones... I bought 10. 2 have been having issues, but they are working with me to replace them... http://cgi.ebay.com/3W-High-Power-RGB-Led-6-Pins-1pcs-/380289340496?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588b02d450 I also ran these for about 30 minutes and they only got slightly warm, so I am not sure they need heatsinks... shilmover
Thanks mate! Have you tried to display "white" light with them too? Yes. It comes out white, but if you look closely at refraction against the wall/etc you see that its made up of the 3 base colors... most people would not notice it... lettuce
Woooo, Shilmover and chris - alot of progress have been made on this i take it nothing has been scripted to work with a actual table yet? Also are people looking at installing lights inside the cab, by the side of the LCD PF screen if theres room to simulate flashers on the PF? Chris has the beta software, so his are ROM driven from actual tables. I dont have the software yet so I am holding out wiring the actual cabinet for now. I have thought of installing some small 5v RGB LEDs (I have several) on the sides of the monitor to see how it looks, but I have not had time yet... Not sure how reflections off the glass will look...

I will test it with both voltages tonight ...

I have also been working on mounting small RGB LEDs on the wood frame I have around my LCD Bezel. so that the lights come from the sides/top of the LCD under the glass. I will post my updates on that as I move forward...
Guest gstav
Sounds great guys! Ordered the same RGB as you Shillmover. So hopefully the reflection under the glas turn out well! Can´t wait for your test!!

Can´t wait for your test!! to be clear. I think the 3W LEDs are too bright to be used under the glass, but regular RGB LEDs may work...
