Arcanthur Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Hey guys! New to the forum, but I've been planning on working with Hyperspin for a long time (as soon as I could afford to get a cabinet). I have a graphic design background and I have done some skins for XBMC in the past. Now that I've started work on my cab I've turned my efforts to Hyperspin and wanted to share what I've done thus far: Arcade Classics logo variations: The theme itself I will upload later -Arc
gigapig Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Welcome Arcanthur. Really nice work, that would work as wheel art instead of Mame, I never did like the name. Look forward to seeing more.
Polemicist Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Quick run and hide before THK and Brolly grab you and drag you away into a cold dark room to churn out artwork all day. If you look real hard you will find many familiar faces in that gloomy room. Nice work bro. You got skills. Oh and Welcome to the madness.

LMFAO thanks brother...that was good xD And i am looking forward to what other things you have for us sir Arcanthur xD
Arcanthur Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Thanks for the kind words guys. Here are some screen of the theme as it stands:
langersld Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Nice work mate... cant wait to see the final product
Polemicist Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Nice. What sort of background are you thinking of?
Arcanthur Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Nice. What sort of background are you thinking of? Here's where I am at the moment: alot of the fine details are lost with the image compression. Also made the joystick and buttons so that the colors can easily be swapped
gigapig Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 alot of the fine details are lost with the image compression. The art guys would say to use a photo hosting site, I think photobucket is one. Is that a marbling effect on the joystick? I do like that. The only other thing, which is personal and only down to my age, are the characters. Is it possible to do a 70's/80's centric version for us oldies? Great job.
THK Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Or imageshack, which I use. Either way, I like your design. I personally would choose different chars from different games, but that's all to personal preference. I did however spot the not-so-well rounded corners on the red to yellow rainbow edges. How did you achieve these artwork parts? ..........................back with a vengeance........................

Yes it's a marble texture, which I can remove for more variations. Same goes for the characters. I will do a few different versions. Or imageshack, which I use.Either way, I like your design. How did you achieve these artwork parts? I have a photobucket account, just haven't used it on here yet, I will use it next time. Those "rounded" corners are unfortunately what photoshop does to the stroke effect when using it more than once or more than a few pixels. It's just temporary though, I plan to trace over it with the pen tool later to make it smoother.
THK Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Use illustrator or go with inside strokes in stead of outside ones. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Arcanthur Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Use illustrator or go with inside strokes in stead of outside ones. Thanks for the tip! Anyone have any character suggestions / requests? I was thinking of a version with Dirk and Daphne.
gigapig Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 How about bad guys. Here's my crazy retro list. The Baiter from Defender (bastard) Those chomper things from Mr Do! Donkey Kong Clyde from Pac Man Space invader or the UFO Bear Hugger from Super Punchout The mothership from Phoenix Bluto from Popeye Those pesky customers from Tapper Not really a bad guy but maybe, the Jason character from Splatter House. That was fun.

That was fun. Maybe a good guy vs bad guy version. With good guys on the left and bad guys on the right. Hmm... I will see what I can come up with
Arcanthur Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Ok progress update, I'm liking it so far. I'd say it's about 80% or so: I need more bad guys, but having issues finding decent sources to pull from. I will keep looking
gigapig Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Outnumbered? You have made my day and brought a big smile to my face. I just hope others like it also.
SORHP Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Can I suggest just 2 buttons, most games that are in the classics usually have only a few... Good lookin work! My Arcade Machines...
Arcanthur Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Can I suggest just 2 buttons, most games that are in the classics usually have only a few...Good lookin work! Thanks! Two button variant: What color would be the most "classic" for the buttons?
Deadly Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Man major thanks for this! The good VS bad is perfect. I would however suggest "maybe" posting the arch nemesis of all on the left to the right. I never much cared for the default MAME theme. Please post this thing!
THK Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I'd go 3D characters and/or 2D characters only. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
doc000 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Hey, I was wondering if this theme was uploaded to the FTP site
THK Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Last Activity 05-12-2014 07:36 PM I doubt you'll see it around soon if it isn't available yet ..........................back with a vengeance........................
