shitoken Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hi friends Planning to get steering wheel which will work with most emulators, pc and ps4 games with FFB . What do you suggest ? Trustmaster G29 G27 Current owners & experienced user please give your comment. Thanks
Yeuxkes Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I have been racing with a wheel for the past 20 years and mostly used Logitech wheels. I even made my own rudimentary racing cab some odd years back. I started out with a Driving Force GT but quickly updated to a G25 when that came out. I needed my clutch and 6-speed gearbox lol. I never had any issues with that wheel, decent feedback for a gear driving wheel. It also has an option to switch the gear stick from a H-pattern to a sequential one, a feature which isn't available anymore on the G27 and G29. I'm not that fond of their pedals tho. The springs they used for the mechanism just don't translate to a real experience for me. Gas and clutch is ok, but the braking is just too weird to get used to. There are some mods out there to get a better feel from your pedals like a load cell but never got around to actually ordering one. It gets the job done but especially the brake doesn't feel like a real car. If you are planning on using a wheel for the PS4 from Logitech then you would need a G29 cause the previous generations aren't compatible for some reason. I can't really comment on any Thrustmaster wheels since the only experience I had with them was a quick sprint race on some expo with a T500RS, hardly enough time to get a decent feel for it. But from what I remember is that their FFB was way stronger than any logitech wheel I used at that point. Which is logical since they use a belt driven mechanism for their FFB. Pedals felt ok and I know you can easily change the layout from floating pedals to ground resting ones. Another big difference between Thrustmaster and Logitech is that the paddle shifters turn with the wheel for Logitech but are stationary with Thrustmaster. I prefer Thrustmasters way of doing it since the location of the wheel doesn't decide where your paddle is. If you really are serious about sim racing then I would suggest Fanatec wheels, although they are a bit pricier than Logitech and Thrustmaster. They are the next step up from an entry level. But again can't comment on those since you can buy two wheels from Logitech or Thrustmaster just for the price of a wheelbase of a Fanatec one. This means just the base, no wheel, no pedals and no shifter. Yes they are that expensive.
shitoken Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 I was planning steering wheels for VR and PC games only, I do not owe PS4, Will consider G29 or Thrustmaster. But I heard Logitech wheels can change the profiles on the fly and easy to manage.
thomas3120 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I got a good deal on a Logitech MOMO on ebay. (for PC) The original pedals are ok. In the process of making my own with no potentiometers. Also, there is only Gas and brake pedals, no clutch.... http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/momo-racing-force-feedback-wheel I'm not a serious Sim racer. It attaches to my cab and Gas/brake are mounted at the bottom. I've tried Various PC games...It may work with emulated consoles and poss. real consoles ..not sure as I haven't tried any yet. t
THK Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I'll wait for a good race setup for whenever I get a VR headset, way in the future ..........................back with a vengeance........................
gigapig Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Here's my cheap ass solution and I can keep the G27 in the attic
shitoken Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 Here's my cheap ass solution and I can keep the G27 in the attic Hehehe.. I am also using spintrak for some racing games as well, but can't get the real taste till I get the steering wheel set. Checked on some second sites G27 is 150USD . Maybe I will go with G29.Tapatalk を使用して私の A0001 から送信
Yeuxkes Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 At one point I even contemplated on doing a full mechanical setup with pistons and actuators so you are tossed around when going around the track. But as always those plans never came to fruition. Looks pretty cool tho, some day perhaps.
gigapig Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I used to play Grid and Need for Speed Shift with some friends a few nights a week but got burnt out on driving games. Two of us even bought into Project C.A.R.S, but since they released it I haven't played it. I blame HyperSpin and emulation a little bit. Anyways, I get a magazine every month called Custom PC and in last months issue 159 they did reviews of the latest wheels.
THK Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I'd have to sell some organs before I can afford this, and my liver is off the table ..........................back with a vengeance........................

If you need someone to race with, I invested in Pcars back when they had that crowd source thing going on before it was shut down. I pledged 50eur and gotten twice my money back already. Since we both are from Europe it shouldn't be that difficult to line up our schedules. I'm pretty sure you can find me on Steam with the same name I use here on the forums. I often times play together with a friend of mine. I've also got Assetto Corsa and the entire Simbin catalog and rFactor.

badboo Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I was looking to get a wheel a few of weeks ago and I got the Logitech Driving Force GT, because I was looking for a cheap and good wheel. The Driving Force G920 I find it too expensive (around $500), so the options were G27, G29 and DFGT. Anyway, I got the DFGT because i found it for $60. It is great albeit you can't use it on your PS4. But there is a method or a trick that can be done to make it work on the PS4. This is the link to this process: DFGT, G25, G27 on PS4 It may be an extra step but it is a cheap way to go through and these wheels are still great.
Styphelus Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I have a G27. You can't go wrong with it. If price is an issue, the Logitech Momo is a really good wheel as well if you can find one. I still have mine and it works like a charm.

I was going to suggest you not getting a wheel if you got caught by bastard squad, but perhaps you should if you love speeding. If your mum hides your keys we'll help you look for them.
Yeuxkes Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Sucks that the men in blue caught you enjoying driving your car. Giga's suggestion is a good one but even with a steering wheel I didn't lose my lead foot while driving my car. On the contrary it even made me drive more sporty cause of all the muscle memory I gathered running hot laps I do drive more civilized when I have passengers tho, and the few wrecks I've made over the years also helped to tone down my driving style. Back on topic, if it's your first wheel I wouldn't worry too much about FFB and all that. Every wheel you'll get will give you a decent feel and is miles better than driving with a gamepad. Just get something that will fit into your budget. Driving will be a bit harder at first but once you got the hang of it you should be faster than what you were driving with a gamepad.

However, the people commenting about it, say that the DFGT works great on the PS4, with this device. My personal opinion is that the DFGT still rocks, I like the FFB and it is still a good option if you want to lower your costs, but I haven't tried the G27, so I can't really make comparisons.
badboo Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Driving Force GT on PS4Ok, I got what I needed and I can confirm that this Gimx method makes all these wheels (DFGT, G25, etc) to work with the PS4. It feels great and no lack.
shitoken Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Finally I got G27 second hand about 70USD Now I am completely noob how to set this up with emulators example Sega Emulator, Super Model, Demul, Mame, PS, etc. Installed the G27 Software and tested everything. What next should I do so it work with hyperspin racing games?
Yeuxkes Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Congrats on the purchase, it is a reasonable price for that wheel. I haven't hooked up my wheel in a long time but it detects as any joystick/gamepad/controller would. You have to bind the inputs to the appropriate controls. The only thing you have to worry about would be the degrees of rotation in logitech profiler and the combined pedals option. I believe most arcade machines only use 180° degrees of rotation, 90° in each direction. You can play around with this setting if you feel it is too little of a radius. The combined pedals option would be something you have to check for each emulator and will be a case of trial and error. I've read something on the byoc forums that some emulators require it and to be checked and others don't.
