relic Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Hi guys so after i saw this amazing achivement in history of gaming i thought why dont we start listing the games we play or which would be worth playing Galloping Ghost arcade tour has bourght back the franchese of supporting old school as well as the arcade business so many memories and fun just for 15$ you can play it all in the us its like a dream - but where i am its preety much dead the only place that exists for me with arcades is timezone there was a time where everystore every mall or even movies had arcades everywhere you went now not so much my guess cause it costs alot of money to keep them in tact and working like they should but the fact we have so many options to play the old school for any type of machine or device for free wether your out or at a house. People just dont care so much anymore its sad but there you go and suppose many are more into modern games these days well not me so much old school gaming still lives more in me for fun rather then modern gaming scene dont get me wrong alot of the remakes are awesome too but the old school scene was special and a great way to get together with freinds and family And what made them even more fun the games were simple and plain it didnt take much brains to get into them and start playing now you have to figure out stuff on your own with most modern games theres so much more to do its like you ask your mum or dad or any other your family who grew up to play the game with you but they just arent as good as they used to be at mordern games compared to the old school scene example games like joust frogger pacman defender galaga rally x glaxian donkey kong were simple to play and didnt take much effort or brains to figure out how to play them every single person could pretty much get into the scene and start playing while the other players joined in with no probs. overall im gonna start listing games i recommend people should play or discover 100%

djvj Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Because every other month someone creates another thread just like this one. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4. "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."RocketLauncher's Official Home If you appreciate my work:My Apps:Window LoggerIdle Volume AdjusterExplorerRestorerRom Folder CleanerModule UpdaterMy Guides:How To Mod Guncons with Aimtrak
gigapig Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Those games you mention Relic and many more had one purpose, to make money. So they were perfectly marketed to young males, bright, noisey and like you say easy to play, but to make money they were hard as hell. Nowadays if you want an arcade you need to follow the Chuck e Cheese model and have an arcade in places like bowling alleys etc. Shame. Anyway my go to games are in order of preference. Defender Burger Time Mr Do! Galaga Marble Madness Tapper Hyper Sports Phoenix Mooncresta Popeye Centipede Knights of the Round Splatter House Donkey Kong Golden Axe Ghost and Goblins Dig Dug 1942 Paperboy They all raise a smile. I have a Mame screensaver running most of the time which throws up some interesting games to check out. I'm going to try out Stargate (Defender 2) soon.

darkskwirl Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Lately, I have been having a lot of fun with the Sega Model 2, Model 3 and Naomi games... I love the backgrounds and gameplay. I really enjoy when I have a buddy over and we can get into a two player game. I have been playing a love of... Death Crimson Time Crisis Virtua Cop Virtua Fighter Dynamite Cop Power Stone 1 and 2 Power Smash (Virtua Tennis) Daytona Guilty Gear EDIT: Zombie Revenge is another one. So much fun to play. I know its the newer stuff but it can be so fun with a friend by your side.... Powerstone to me is like Bubble Bobble on steroids! LOVE IT!
gigapig Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I know its the newer stuff but it can be so fun with a friend by your side.... Powerstone to me is like Bubble Bobble on steroids! LOVE IT! Just tried out Power Stone 2, what the hell was I playing? LOL. It was a bit like Super Smash Bros, and I had no idea what I was doing. Good recommendations. Edit: Zombie Revenge is cracking since when did zombies learn to use shot guns. Will be revisiting that one, not just for the acting.

8bitbobby Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 My favorites at my local arcade in the day were: Exciting Hour (Mat Mania) Wonderboy in Monsterland Robotron 2084 Outrun TMNT Ms. Pacman Altered Beast Punchout
darkskwirl Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 @Giga Powerstone is like smash brothers but you have to make it through the maze of the level. You want to live to the end. Main object is to collect 3 gems which gives you a temporary power up. Depending on which character you are, you have certain abilities. Lots of fun for coop. I also would play that with 4 people every man for himself. Pretty intense! Zombie Revenge.... provides hours of drop dead entertainment!!!! Story line isn't very exciting, but it's just fun! Imagine trying to beat that with a hand full of quarters! EDIT: Always a big fan of co-op games. Double Dragon The Simpsons TMNT Metal Slug Lot's of fun with company!
HazzardActual Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 metal slug for sure, i cant walk by one of those machines without putting at least 3 bucks into it tron Spinal Breakers is a great game, quarter hog though Road Blaster was a fave of mine at the local pizza joint Warp Warp was shown to me by a friend, great game for having a score battle on dig dug 1 and 2 ill come up with more later

Agrajag Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Cracking list yourself! Of course I played most of those on the Speccy as well, but I keep meaning to delve into C64 emulation to see what I was missing out on all those years ago. Jeff Minter has been releasing games on iOS recently but I've not bothered with them on my crappy old iPod Touch. There are 2 games on Steam that I must get around to buying though, and I just grabbed the Gridrunner freebies for the PC and Android from the Llamasoft website. More tea, vicar?
