Hyper Control (Main Menu Config & Apps Wheel)

Hi All,

In my time tinkering with Hyperspin I have noticed that when its running the program tends to import files into some magic place and does not flag them as in-use... meaning on the fly alterations seem to work fine and reflect on refresh of the wheel. For those that have Hyperspin setup as the main shell also it can be a pain updating, configuring and adding new content to your setup.

So why not have a wheel within Hyperspin that allows you to load Configuration UI's and Useful Config/Media/Utility Applications on the fly without having to resort back to the OS itself.

With blessing I would like to take up such a task.

I have released before a simple Main Menu Wheel Item for Explorer++ which allows you to load a File Manager without loading Explorer for Windows and getting the Start Menu and everything back.

Also a Proccess Sharing Application Item Named BOINC for helping contribute spare resources to valuable projects.

But... I want to take it that step further so I am creating a Full Wheel with Sub Items.

 

Within this Wheel I would plan to add and them and not limited to:

Most of these things can be loaded though PCLauncher I would think which should make it easy enough to setup.

I will plant to release on the fly Databases, Wheels, Themes and Pointers as I go and hopfully a complete pack at the end so stay tuned and feel free to drop a reply with suggestions/comments.

Just a WIP Preview of the Main Menu Theme I am working on.

The background is an animated 1min loop which seems to be ok .. but would like it to transition just that bit cleaner and looking to create a preview of some of the tools and add more icons/information. If anyone has a good png of the HyperHQ and Rocketlauncher UI Icons let me know or drop em in here if you may.

I have seen plenty of YouTube vids with bare black background and default wheel text.

It seems I cant get the previews to transition correctly. Is there anyone skilled in video editing able to make me a short video with these images transitioning between each-other.

Or guide me on how to do it.

I can seem to get them into Aftereffects, setup their time length of 7 seconds each and transition them with 2 seconds in/out. All seems fine...

But when I export to XFL and try and make them a SWF in flash and then run them in Hypertheme I only seem to get about 300 frames and they it vanishes.

Probably best to just do it as a FLV?

PS. Yes for some reason the only thing I have played in winamp is the Wololo priest sound from Age of Empires II....

@wesfranks That is perfect!! Bar one mistake on my part..

I forgot you cannot resize once embedded... and I was transforming them to be smaller so they fit in the theme.

Any chance you could re-do it with them at 40% original scale?

Let me know if its difficult to resize and I can upload them again at the correct scale.

The swf is smaller- about 745x665 (your original size). I tried an mp4 thru imgur as a demo, but this forums BBcode translated to static image, so I went to YouTube which full screens the file to its frame and made the text look blurry.

The swf is also approx. 7 sec run with 2 second fade to next layer (video is a little fast). Some of your pics show jaggy lines especially at the top. Looking at it, seems the pngs are a couple of pixels different in size. Jaggy's are not really noticeable until layered on top of the other pngs of a different color. Or may be a Flash thing with the skewed png at a low resolution.

Run it through HyperTheme and see if it is acceptable.

Also, how's this gonna look in when stretched 16x9. If I recall you prefer widescreen (as do I).

This is what I was just thinking.. I have remade them to be smaller and also skewed they 71% on the X axis so they should re-stretch ok.

I know the text now is unreadable but thats fine to be honest. It was more of a general app overview than a detailed one and actually prefer it almost non-legible.

That being said if anyone would prefer to create something more for a video snap please by all means. I am sure we have some bored talent out there. 

I hope this project will allow all of us with cabinets running Hyperspin to be able to launch 3rd Part and In-house Apps easily to make them more than just an "Arcade Machine"

Launching HyperAI allowing people to download and update on the fly without having to resort back to native OS would handy also.

I will be sure to add in an Option to Launch the On-Screen Keyboard for those that don't have a Keyboard also as I forgot to add it to the list.

Any more suggestions or additions just jump in people, as this is for everyone not just me.

Its sorta large overall (16.3mb) as the background I used is 1min long but I am happy with the quality to size ratio and the result thus far. 
I am sure it will evolve and new versions may come out over time. 

To add it so far, just create a new Wheel in HyperHQ and call it HyperControl and let it have a subwheel.

Ok, I am having a creative blank at the moment it seems.

Trying to do up a theme for Hyper HQ but unsure on the background and how to draw up the text to suite the program.

The colours I would like to keep Green as that's the colour I think of when I think HyperHQ.

I was looking at this for the background ....

But thinking that the items can just be simple wallpapers .. 

 

As for the Text/Title is there anyone able to Reproduce/recreate the Hyperspin Logo for me but change it to HyperHQ?

If I do choose the Animated route I will probably do the same for all the themes in the set as I would like to unify the wheel as best I can.
