relic Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 heres what i found as far as xbox pc emulation goes the results are looking great especially for cxbx heres the news http://shogun3d-cxbx.blogspot.com.au/search?updated-min=2014-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&updated-max=2015-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=3 and all the emus in progress - http://forums.emulator-zone.com/showthread.php?t=21032 So as you can see, Xbox emulation is not dead or inactive. In fact, it's more active than it ever was before! I know all you people care about is playing a few of your favourite games on PC without having to worry about your Xbox crapping out on you, but you still have to appreciate what little progress is coming forth. The biggest issue in the Xbox emu scene is not the lack of people working on them, it's the lack of consistent contributions! Too many people coming and going but the fact that there are people still coming is better than nothing. 100%

relic Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Awesome news. One day I hope this will cease to amaze you big time Cxbx: Xbox Dashboard (3944) Last night, I got Cxbx to run the original Xbox Dashboard (XDK 3944). It's not perfect, but it's mostly working. It's has lots of visual bugs and no sound right now either, also you can't view the system info section or view view the memory section properly. relic Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 That post is from December 2012. aww thats to bad but cxbx is not dead the guy is still online and around also he posted this message up only a month ago so its still in heavy development. TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2014 XQEMU: Smashing Drive Ingame Okay, we're moving along here faster than I anticipated. Just a few moments ago, I added a few texture related fixes to XQEMU, and now Smashing Drive goes ingame! Although there isn't too much visually impressive in this game, it's proof that LLE is a feasible idea. In my experience, Smashing Drive has always been the easiest Xbox game to emulate (the game is only 90mb, making it the smallest known commercial Xbox game that I know of!), so I'm not really too surprised it's working this well. You're probably wondering why the colours are inverted, lack of colour keying and depth testing, etc. The emu actually doesn't appear to implement any render states at all at the moment, and we're still working out how certain texture formats should be interpreted in OpenGL. Other than that, everything runs with minimal issues, minus the random freeze likely caused by race conditions. So, just wanted to give you all a quick update on XQEMU's progress as of late. Thanks for reading! 100%

Trnzaddict Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Ahh, I'm in no rush for xbox emulation. For one a soft modded xbox can be built for 40 dollars, it is so simple to do its a joke. Drop an hd in there, get a torrent of xbox games, FTP over, voila. Second, except for a few exclusive titles, most of the Xbox's games came out for PC as well, which you are better off with anyway because you are able to upscale to 1080p, and chances are with hardware nowadays you can run every single game back then now at a solid 60 fps. I just downloaded Area51 for PC which I have for xbox as well, man what a visual/performance difference. And for other games in between, almost all of them came out for PS2 and GC, which we have excellent emulators for anyways. So for me personally, I can wait. I am......Machine

floatingyeti Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I thought there were around 90 exclusive games and some multiplatform had enhanced ports on xbox. There is defineatly a need for an xbox emulator.
Dime333 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Not to mention that for some people (like me) emulation is a hobby. It's not all just about playing games. So to have a major console like the XBOX emulated would be pretty big for me.

Trnzaddict Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Well I've had my soft modded xbox since 2006 and I have a huge amount if games with a huge hard drive inside and most of the exclusive titles....The emulator is going to be much less than perfect, I just don't see why people would want to play with bugs and such when you can build an xbox museum for cheap. Not to mention you can launch xbox games from HS. Also no offense but I'm a little puzzled by the previous statement "It's not all about playing games." So then what is the hobby of emulation? Rom hoarding? I am......Machine
zerojay Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 "It's not all about playing games." So then what is the hobby of emulation? Rom hoarding? Learning and appreciating gaming's past.
brolly Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 True dat. You will never play 10% of the game library you have on your whole lifetime.
relic Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 thats what i dont get why do people want every single game on there machine its not like you would play them all anyways and not only that is it worth playing every one of those games and teh fact you have to have at least 10 terrabyte or more hardrives to fit it all the answer is ? well its to show off preety much and display not so much for play 100%
zerojay Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 It's missing the point. It's being able to say "I feel like playing X" and just having it or "I don't know what I feel like playing", hitting random and never knowing what you're going to get. I'm plenty happy with my setup and enjoy gaming on it quite a bit and it's a blast streaming on Twitch while people are throwing game suggestions at you. So don't have all the games on your hard drives if you want. I'm having a complete fucking blast having them all personally.

Rom hoarding? The hobby of emulation is emulating. Ever since I saw the C64 version of giana sisters beeing emulated on PC 20 years ago, I have been fascinated by emulation. I simpy Think that it's fun. If all I wanted to to was to play games. I don't Think I would spend this craz amount of time setting up emulators and tweaking stuff on a cab. I would probably just fire up my XBOX 360 and play. I'm not very interested in playing with bugs, I am however very iterested in seeing an emulator evolve and maby becme succesful in emulating a game, a few games, or even many games. So... I's a hobby
Dime333 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I started using hyperspin in December. I have spent many hours since then setting up systems. I'm at 57 right now. I Always try to perfect each system before moving on to the next. That include finding the best available Wheels, box art, cart art, themes. Making a favourites Wheel, setting up the genres, adding startup sounds. Maby using some postlaunch scripts and so on. I have fnally come to a Point where I don't feel that I constantly need to add more systems. I just play some games. I must say it feels pretty good. There are still a few systems that I want to add but I'll just do it when I feel like it. It can be pretty frustrating to set up an unsupported system when you're a perfectionist like me.
MLSchleps Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 It's all about collecting. I can pretty much guarantee that I will not be playing "Barbie Horse Adventures" on the Xbox, but it is part of my collection. What I'd really like to see is Hyperspin for the Xbox.
brolly Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Wait, there's a Barbie Horse Adventures game for the Xbox? Damn... need to find that iso now.
horseyhorsey Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Wait, there's a Barbie Horse Adventures game for the Xbox? Damn... need to find that iso now. Lol, you know that is one game that always sticks out for me on the Xbox. Never played it though , you have to believe me. True dat. You will never play 10% of the game library you have on your whole lifetime. Well this was one console that I did play a lot of, I reckon I easily did 70%. From that point on I never got hooked on a console ever again. In fact, don't play them at all. Also no offense but I'm a little puzzled by the previous statement "It's not all about playing games." So then what is the hobby of emulation? Rom hoarding? You know it is for some people. I stripped my Mainmenu.xml from 105 systems right down to 40. Was getting ridiculous scrolling through all that gash I'd never play. Weed Me! relic Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 Yeah your right horse its ridicolous having machines you dont need on the menu you should just keep it nice and simple at most follow by the hyperlisting system database and add them to the menu only is the way to go. but if your serious and a collector by all means add every system and game possible is the way i see it 100%
Polemicist Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I'm just happy to see work on emulators for anything. It means that long into the future these things will still be around.
