THK Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Only 32 left. Nice, hahaha. When I read/realize this on one of my projects, I cry! ..........................back with a vengeance........................
TGov Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Please forgive me if I have missed this, but is this theme available to download yet? I understand that it isn't 'complete' yet, but I have seen some videos of people using it on Youtube but I can't seem to find a link for it. Amazing work by the way!
jeepguy81 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 @THK, actually I think I cried when Greg told me there were an extra 20 more to do lol. And yes these themes, up to this point, are up on the ftp in my folder for download. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project

TGov Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Before I throw down $20 right now for this theme, will it fit ok on a 3:4 monitor vertically?
jeepguy81 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 The themes are all done at the standard 1024x768, so yeah I guess once u rotate the monitor its 3:4 Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
TGov Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Awesome, thank you for the reply. Great work.
TGov Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I got everything downloaded, but I am failing to get it to show up in Hyperspin. I followed the directions the best I could and it seems like it should work, but I still get the default theme with some of the wheel images showing up, but not all of them and the background is just the default hyperspin theme. I have worked on it for a few hours now and have read several different threads trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. I also can't find the "artwork4-glass" file you talk about in the instructions. Any help or giving me a nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
jeepguy81 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 @TGov, Take a look in my folder on the ftp, look in help file and you should see a folder labeled "Sample Cocktail File Structure". Grab this folder and look through it, it has a few samples of artwork in each folder it needs to be in. This should help you make sure the artwork is placed properly. Just remember, if you did create a new wheel and want to use that, then in the media folder instead of using "cocktail" folder, your would be whatever your new wheel is. Or if you just use the default mame wheel, it would be mame then. Same with the Cocktail.ini file in the Settings folder. Either rename this to your particular wheel, or just rename it to mame.ini and drop it in the installed settings folder. Give that a shot and see if that steers you in the right direction. Also..... Here's Halleys Comet.... Mostly redrew parts of the marquee and game title. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
TGov Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Did you change anything about it because for some reason I can't connect to the FTP server right now. I downloaded that file you are talking about the other day, so I should still have it. I think I have gone over it a dozen times
TGov Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 *EDIT* ok, I figured out what it was, the 'wheel' folder was named 'wheels'. Took off the 's' and it works
TGov Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Anybody else have any issues with Donky Kong 2? I get the theme to load fine and the video shows up fine, but as soon as I select the game, hyperspin freezes. The video continues playing, but I can't do anything else and have to force quit Hyperspin. I have checked my XML and it seems to be ok. Any ideas? It seems to be the only game this happens to.
cmoses Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I just picked up my first cocktail cabinet over the weekend. It is in need of some work and I will need to make some decisions, currently has a non functioning arcade monitor with some burn in. Do I fix it, replace it with another arcade monitor, find a CRT computer monitor, go LCD, etc. Anyway, I started searching for cocktail and ran across this thread. I was considering a X-in-1 board possibly but now that I have seen this thread, I will be MAME'ing for sure. WOW, I was blown away with the amazing work and amount of themes that have been done. They are all so well done and look great. I think the similarity with all of the themes is what makes it so great. I have seen many posts about trying to come up with a more standard them for HyperSpin in general. Well this nails that right on the head. I can't wait to get my new cocktail done cosmetically so I can begin working with these themes. I ran through the thread pretty quickly so I might have missed the answer to this but have the themes for some of the horizontal 2 player games been released? I saw one for Food Fight and I think I saw mention of Mario Bros., Joust and a few others. I know these are not vertical games and some also may not have been cocktails but I know I would enjoy playing these split-screen on my cocktail once completed. If anyone has an update please let me know. Once again, great work Jeepguy81 and all those that have helped and contributed.
SORHP Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 @TGov, I think you may be looking at a MAME issue on the freezing, My theme for DK2 is good, dkongx, I think is its mame name, I believe I had to find that rom in a special place, but it's been too long to remember how it all came about. make sure the letter case is the exact same on everything in the naming... @cmoses, go to byoac.com ? and check the forums on refurbing your monitor if you want to save it, otherwise, I use an lcd hdtv, and with some tweaking everything looks great, unless you are looking to get exact lo-rez graphics, then you will need to research a bit further My Arcade Machines...
jeepguy81 Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 @cmoses, You haven't missed any themes, you are correct in that there are a few great 2player horiz games that are great in a cocktail mode. I will get to those games but only after I am through the main list first. Don't worry they will get announced and released. Great to hear more people getting use of these themes. Look forward to seeing some pics of ur cab. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project

Yep, you are right. I just compiled .147 this morning and everything is working fine now Now if I could just get the now broken games to work.... I can't get Raiden to work win .147 now. I might have to go back to an older version, but I have problems compiling those for hi score saves.
SORHP Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 For the shmup games I use shmupmame3b? It runs a lot of the popular Japanese shooters that do not run well in mame, for everything else, regular mame patched for high score and nonag is used and works well, don't be afraid to use different versions for different functionality, I also have a few pinball machines emulated as well My Arcade Machines...
TGov Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It looks like the download links for shmupmame aren't working right now
SORHP Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 hrmmmm, maybe look in some different forums, for maybe shmupmame 2.3b? and maybe mame 147( or is it 137?) with the cave drivers My Arcade Machines...
TGov Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 not sure what cave drivers are, but I will check it out. I got Raiden working at least by downloading the Japanese version.

Hope you get the rest of the list done so you can work on the 2 player head to head game themes. Mario Bros., Joust, NBA Jam all come to mind. I am hoping that I can have a trackball on one side of my cocktail cabinet and a spinner on the other side along with the obligatory joystick and buttons. With this in mind would it be easy to reverse the video one of these themes to indicate which side it is played on? Example you are sitting on the player one side with the joystick, buttons and trackball. You are going through the list and they all show as normal facing you. When you get to a game that is spinner controlled it shows the video but it shows it upside down. This way you know it would need to be played from the spinner end? Hope that makes sense. Let me know what you think. Clayton
jeepguy81 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Well you could adjust the video settings in the theme itself for whichever game u need it for I guess. All the artwork would still be the same, not sure how that would look. There is an un-used artwork layer, you could add some graphic displaying the spinner or something maybe. Just a thought. jeepguy81 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 Video Hustler.... Not much to work with on this one, eh, slightly along the same lines as the "lil hustler" marquee. Hot Shots Tennis, Again not allot to go on, roughly copied the look of the flyer kinda. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
