Those are sweet!

Was Time Pilot '84 on the list?

There is 29 left. Check the first page of the thread.

Time Pilot 84 in not on list.

Is it different then Regular Time Pilot?

I can't access the first page at work, it is blocked for some reason. TP '84 is very different and a better game IMO.

No rush, I just didn't see it in the wheel list :) I actually already created a wheel for it but haven't gotten around to the table art. Sorhp got me the templates btw so don't worry about that :)

I have a few horizontal themes done that I will send to you to see if you want to include them or not. I just needed some for my cab as I have a few in there.

Little slow at work so tried to bust out a few more. Big thanks to Brian, did jungler and nyny quick due to the superb .psd's he loaned me!

Imago...

This one i'm not crazy on, but I couldn't find anything for this, not even an old B&W pic of a cab, no flyer, nada. So I just winged it.

Don't even think i've ever played this game.

Those look great. I don't think I have played any of those 3. I guess I will have some new games to try once I get my cocktail cabinet.

Keep up the great work.

I loaded up the first page of this thread to watch the video again and also look at the list of games that have been completed. I saw the 3 floor desgins you have, the hardwood, carbon fiber and stained carpet. Well it got me thinking, what I would love to see is some "Arcade" carpet. Something that glows under black lights. Some examples here:

Just a thought...

I've definitely been in a few arcades back in the day that had designs and colors very similar to those. All you need is a blacklight and you're set. :)

Jeepguy81,

I was wondering if you had a template that you use to create these. I would like to try my hand at one of these themes and figured it would be easier to start with a blank template. Are you using Illustrator or some other program? Are you willing to share the template?

Thanks

Jeepguy81,

I got a chance this evening to finally play around with the Vertical Cab themes. I had downloaded them a while back but got an opportunity to try to make them work this evening. I ran into some issues and I was hoping you could assist with. I think you may have redone the Help document at some point and maybe didn't update the pictures, because I had some confusion with them. It looks like this should be a replacement to the MAME theme entirely, which is fine, that is what I would like. Some of the pictures look to be using a "Cocktail" theme so I think that is what initially confused me. Here are my questions:

1. I am only getting the glass layer on the game 1941. When I look at the Artwork4 folder there is only one picture in there and it is called 1941.png. Do I need to copy that for every game and rename it? You reference in the help.txt file a artwork4-glass.zip but I did not see it in the download I got from the FTP. Is there a way to make the glass layer work for all of the themes without having to copy and rename it for every game? I tried renaming it to 1941.png to glass.png, artwork4.png and artwork4-glass.png but none seemed to work.

2. I had a question with the wheel and how it spins. I will need to check but on the standard MAME theme you use up and down to move the wheel and it moves the same way you move the joystick. So if you are on Donkey Kong and want to go to Donkey Kong Jr., which is 2 games below it on the list, then you hit the down key twice and it moves down. This seems to be reversed in your theme. I know yours is left and right, but if you were on Donkey Kong in the Vertical theme and wanted to go to Donkey Kong Jr. which would be 2 games to the right, you don't hit the right button twice, you hit the left button twice. It seems like the difference is that in the MAME theme you are moving up and down the wheel, where as in the Vertical theme, you are moving the wheel left and right. It seems more intuitive in the MAME theme to me.

3. This is more of an observation than a issue. My cocktail cabinet was a Pacman and had a 19" CRT monitor in it originally. It was not working and I have pulled it to see about getting it fixed at some point, for now I will be using a LCD. If you were sitting on the player 1 end of the cocktail cabinet the arcade monitor would be vertical as you looked at it, with the bottom of the monitor being on the left hand side. I thought this was pretty standard for cocktail cabinets. The side that folds down is the opposite side of the coin door. If I used your theme with the original monitor in the cab, then it would be backwards. The top of the theme would be closest to Player 1. Player 2 would see the theme correctly. Currently this isn't an issue for me as I will be initially using a LCD monitor and can rotate it any way I need to make it work. I may swap that LCD out if I can repair the arcade monitor or if I find the right size computer monitor. I don't think I would want to mount the arcade monitor or a computer monitor upside down or opposite of the original mounting design. So my question is, is there an easy way to "flip" the theme so that it would show correctly for Player 1 on a arcade/computer monitor that was mounted the standard way?

Hope those questions make sense. Let me know if you or anyone else has run into these issues and the best way to address them. By the way the theme looks even better in person than on the YouTube video. I can't wait to get my cabinet done and have this theme on it.

Thanks again for you amazing work

No prob, let's see...

1. Yes u have to duplicate that glasstop for each game. This is due to a bug in the current HS, and I did at one point keep a zip of all the glasstops but at the rate I was doing some themes it got old keeping that file up to date. I did mention that if anyone is starting out with these I can zip up the artwork 4 and background layers so you can get caught up. Easier then duplicating yourself.

2. By default ur right the wheel navigation is off using a vertical layout. You can go into hyperHQ and change which of the controls is up and down moving through the wheel, try that and see if that works out.

3. Actually if you look at a few different cab manufacturers, those cabs have been made with the "top" of the monitor in either orientation. I think a handful of us went back and forth on this looking at different cabs and in the end there seemed to be no position that was 100% acurate all the time. When I started these for my eventual cab I figured on an LCD so the orientation was changable. The only way to adjust it theme-wise would be to unzip, rotate, and re-zip every theme, redo the special artwork, and rotate the wheels.

Hopefully that covered your questions, from my phone I can't read as I answer.

Thanks for the replies I figured that copying the glass top for each one was what was going to be needed. I found the Schump's folder and saw that it had been done like that for all of those games. If you get a chance and can zip up your artwork4 and background layers and post them to the FTP site that would be great. I am sure it will help me and anyone later on that will be implementing this theme.

I will try to play with the controls to see if I get it makes any differences and seems more intuitive.

Yeah I figured there might not be any standard as far as how monitors were mounted. It wouldn't be easy to have to unzip, rotate and rezip all that art but it could be done.

Thanks for your answers, let me know if you get a chance to post your artwork and background layers.
