Ok test it again 2068 is the number I came up with I removed dupes and a few more. Manually by comparing the 2 databases. Looks like when I get home I have some more roms to delete :). Well atleast now when something gets screwed up it will be easy for me to make a new xml.

Cheers!

What are you using to manipulate the db?

Would it be possible to easily add the rating field to the db?

I would like to start going through it and adding all the info to flesh it out.

Thanks,

Ron

I want to help but I don't want to read through all 1031 posts in this thread.

1. What rom set is this officially using and has someone uploaded it so I can be on the same page?

2. How much of the database is filled? There are many on FTP which are we working on?

3. Are all needed media files in Dougan78's folder or do I have to look in multiple places?

For Floatingyeti and Ron. As far as adding stuff to the database I believe I got the names of the roms right so they are just Gamebase name (region) so. If you crop the region and do a vlookup in excel you should be able to add whatever info you want to the xml with excel in a matter of minutes. At least it sounds good on the surface anyway. All of the files/database/stuff you need is all in post 1 on where to get it. The only thing the database has now is name and description. So I do not think it would take much effort to add in the rest of the info assuming Gamebase database has the info we need which... I am sure it does(years,mfg,etc). If you are not familiar with excel vlookups and using MS access to view the gamebasedb to dump the tables to excel I can take a look at it after I am done adding artwork.

Cheers! and thank you both for your interest in help and c64 goodness.

I'm not sure anyone needs to spend the effort updating the database. We already have a completed one as part of the HyperSpin Project. Honestly, It may be more helpful to try to source as much artwork as possible, create videos, etc... Give myself or brolly a shout if you want to help and we'll get you the database. Not trying to come across negative, just want the c64 effort focused on what still needs done, for all of us. Thanks!

I agree we are 25% of the way there on wheels already. How impressive is that! ? Who would have thought. 6000+ more to go. But if 1 dude can get us that far a little help would probably go a long way. And surprisingly there is quite a bit of artwork actually available rather easily. Thanks brian.

yeah I will work on artwork but I need to know I'm using the correct and complete database first with all the roms

Pm wahoobrian then or brolly.

Fyi i worked through most of sfodb.com c64sets.com and i am working through commodorehdcovers.com right now. So any thing else you can find have at it. ;)

I just noticed that the description for most if not all multi-disk games are missing the disk info in the DB. It didn't used to be like this, did it? Example below.

<game name="4x4 Off-Road Racing (USA) (Disk 1)" index="" image="">

<description>4x4 Off-Road Racing</description>

<cloneof></cloneof>

<crc></crc>

<manufacturer></manufacturer>

<year></year>

<genre></genre>

</game>

<game name="4x4 Off-Road Racing (USA) (Disk 2)" index="" image="">

<description>4x4 Off-Road Racing</description>

<cloneof></cloneof>

<crc></crc>

<manufacturer></manufacturer>

<year></year>

<genre></genre>

</game>

When scrolling through the games in hyperspin, you just see "4x4 Off-Road Racing" two times. It looks like it's the same game added twice.

Good to hear. I was afraid it was lost.

Nothing is ever lost, except my sanity. But now that my roms are all cleaned up it takes 2 seconds to make a new database. Cheers!
