dougan78 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I am a C64 Kid and the existing XML was missing a few of my favorite games (River Raid, Gold Box AD&D, Buck Rogers Countdown to Dooms Day, Drelbs, and so many more), then Wahoobrian released an updated database! People get told to help and well, I hope this is helping! I am using the scans from SFODB to create artwork and they have some nice scans! Thanks SFODB! I have been using the existing wheels (if the make sense for the box art for the game) and converting them to no intro naming and a little more: 1. Create Wheel for Game ( Or rename an existing one that makes sense) Wheels are available in the downloads section: 2. Create 2D Cover for Game (Artwork3) has been submitted to download section here: 3. Organize for Hyperlaunch/HyperPause Media ( Folders are: Front, Back, Inserts, Media, and the Manual Scans) 4. Put the Raw Front of Tapes/Boxes Scans in Front Folder (Named Frontx.jpg) 5. Put the Raw Back of Box/Tapes(typically instructions) in Back Folder (Named Backx.jpg) 6. Guides have been submitted to emumovies here: /_HyperLaunch Media Submissions/dougan78/ 7. Manuals that were available: has been submitted to Emumovies here: /_HyperLaunch Media Submissions/dougan78/ 8. PNG Screenshots for video has been submitted to Emumovies here: /_Other/dougan78/ 9. Hyperlaunch/Pause Artwork has been submitted to Emumovies here: /_HyperLaunch Media Submissions/dougan78/ 10. Database is using the Official Hyperbase C64 Database available in the downloads section here: [url=http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/7849-commodore-64-hyperbase-database-official/]http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/7849-commodore-64-hyperbase-database-official/ 11. Wheels sounds are here: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/10923-commodore-64-wheel-sounds/ Long Live C64.
craiganderson Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Wow! http://craigandersonthemes.weebly.com/
dougan78 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Wow is right! I just checked and I have organized 7611 Files for use with Hyperspin/Hyperpause. That is a lot of files so far! Lovin' it! When you go to hyperpause when Playing Ultima VI, you can go to inserts and check out the scan of the moonstone that came in the box! I was at a store recently and thought about buying it again for by my C64 used, I did not because someone put a fake rock in the box, a river stone(river rocks don't pass for moonstones). Jeez.... yeah I like c64.
Agrajag Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I was a Spectrum kid, but I do want to add C64 to my set up at some point so thanks for the hard work! Sent from my phone using Tapatalk, probably while at work... HyperSpin behaving oddly? wahoobrian Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 The "Official" C64 database is basically complete - I'm gonna add a few more Brolly found recently... Maybe throw your efforts towards the HyperSpin Project, and then can rename all the assets with the names in that DB, so no renaming will be necessary... Thanks for the effort on this!!! I was also a C64 fan growing up, which is why making that official DB was a labor of love for me. PM myself or Brolly if interested.
gigapig Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I was lucky enough to be both a Spectrum kid and later a C64 kid, I still have 2 in the attic and a box of games. Thank you for all your hard work.
dougan78 Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 Another 43 Games reorganized for No intro. Would like to do 50 a week for a bit. Will see how it goes, life is getting busy so the momentum I got last week was slowed up a bit and will depend on the complexity of the artwork needing to be generated. Updated post 1 list. 511 total.
dougan78 Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 Well I got confused so I made sure I uploaded the wheels. Lol. So it was 59 wheels. and the total is 526. This week will be a good mile stone. We will be surpassing the existing XML wheel count of 529 so There will be more wheels than ever before. Which is not hard considering we can borrow off spectrum and that is at 1500+ wheels. Rock on! Post 1 Updated at wheels and artwork 3 updated on FTP. Cheers.
craiganderson Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Thank u for ur great work all the time it takes to put together. http://craigandersonthemes.weebly.com/
dougan78 Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Todays Update: 125 Wheels. Updated Post 1. Total wheels: 653. While working on this I realized how in the world am I going to remember all the games I found interesting? Some games you just don't remember even though you spent many hours as a kid playing others you have never seen and look pretty decent while working on artwork. At any rate I figured while I was at it I could showcase a few games that are worthy of a play even if you never even seen or had a c64. These games I feel are a must play at least once and it will help me remember so can build my Favs easier when I am done with all this. Times of Lore: This game is great. Action/Adventure game with a top down perspective. The map in the game is pretty expansive and once you are in the game it doesn't load at all when traversing the map! It is truly amazing. You will appreciate this if you have play Ultima VI or Faery Tale Adventure on 64 (2 steps load 5 minutes, 2 steps, load 5 minutes). Highly recommend giving it a play. First stop is getting the magical AXE! Archon: My brothers and I played this gave for hours. Chess that when you land on your appointment your fight it out. Each piece has different powers. A must play. More fun with 2 humans. Eagles Nest: Top down go rescue guys in a military base. The exploring aspects of the game are fun. You only get so much ammo so use it wisely! Chop N Drop/Internation Karate/IK+: Another 2/3 Player Game, best with you and your friends. Fighting game with bonus stages where you block bouncing balls, break bricks, etc. AD&D Gold box Games: Take your Pick and Play one. They are all pretty good. I just like wondering around once you got some levels to kill guys and get some loot! River Raid: Best version is on C64. More levels, better graphics. Just all around great flying through the canyons blowing through ships, choppers, airplanes and balloons. North and South: I just like the cartoon nature of this game. Have not played it in a while. I know it is on other platforms NES, is one. I always played it on C64. Impossible Mission: Action Puzzle game. Find the map pieces. Go to the main computer and match stuff up. One of the first games I had with voice at the beginning. Another Vistor.... Stay awhile. Stay forever! Those are a few anyway. Too many wheels to post all of them as I get them done, however I wanted to remember these at the very least as I saw some others that looked great and worth playing and don't even remember them after looking at 653 wheels/boxes who knows what is what any more. You have some games you like on c64? Let me know as I am a c64 nut and really like to test new ones out that are fun. Cheers!
Styphelus Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Is there a XML file to go with all these new wheels?
dougan78 Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Is there a XML file to go with all these new wheels? Not just yet. You can use Dir2XML if you have the C64 PP or other No intro collections out there.
dougan78 Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Not sure how I missed the background area by the eagles head. Fixed it up.
sic Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Damn, really looking forward to test this out when I have some time over to set it up .
Styphelus Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I have the No-Intro set. Are you using only the PP set? There's a Tape set and another set as well. Should I just ignore those 2 go with PP only?
dougan78 Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 I have all 3. Some artwork I am doing is not in any of the 3. I have not set it up yet my self I just use the 529 wheel one. When I get more completed I will cut over to this instead as things are coming along nicely.
dougan78 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 Updated Post 1, and FTP. Added another 53 wheels. Some really great games this round. World Class Leader Board: When I think golf games there are only 3 games the come to mind as great golf games. Tiger Woods on Wii, Golden Tee and World Class Leaderboard on the C64. Great golf game. A must play if you enjoy golf games. TechnoCop: Has a driving element, side scroller shooting elements. Go to location X and get the bad guys. Really fun game. Highly recommend this one. Roadwars: This game just looked neat. Thunderblade USA vs Europe: Just thought the different artwork was interesting and it is a decent game. Cheers! P.S. I make some of the wheels and some we get from ZX Specticles HS Ready ZX Spectrum setup and others are borrowed form existing systems. So thank you to all the artwork contributors out there. Been stealing some from SMS, Amiga, Mame.
goofers Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Great job Doug just got my new laptop so tell me what you need help on bud
gigapig Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Also if your having trouble finding anything let us know, at the very least I can get the box of C64 games down from the attic and see if I have them.
dougan78 Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Great job Doug just got my new laptop so tell me what you need help on bud let me reorganize a couple of things on my end this week and I can have a folder of scans for you to work on if you like. I did not think about the prospect of help when I started and I need to be a bit more organized so we can crank some stuff out. Thank you for offering!!
dougan78 Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Also if your having trouble finding anything let us know, at the very least I can get the box of C64 games down from the attic and see if I have them. I will keep that in mind once we get to 1068 I will circle back and whip up a generic xml if needed, rename videos to match and game base png game play pngs to match and we will have a good start. Not to mention double the size of the existing hyperlist setup. It will be a long while before we get through all these scans and its good to know someone has a c64 cache at home. My collection was all downloaded at 300 baud so not much artwork to be had. My handwriting was not very good either so not worth scanning my discs. ; )
brolly Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Also if your having trouble finding anything let us know, at the very least I can get the box of C64 games down from the attic and see if I have them. You should do that and scan the spines of the cardboard games anyway
dougan78 Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Updated Post 1 to reflect all the games listed as of today. Updated 33 Wheels/Artwork3. Total at: 736. Excellent progress. I am really happy with how good things are moving along. Some highlights from this update: Ultima IV: My first intruduction into the Ultima franchise. Really great game. It has been release on many different platforms. The C64 version has the best music of any in my opinion and the SMS version has the best graphics. Worth a play to find out what becoming the Avatar is all about! AD&D Curse of the Azure Bonds: Its a gold box game, what more do you need to know? I love them all. So grab your party and go get some loot! Faery Tale Adventure: I remember this game was take 3 steps and load 5 minutes. Hopefully with a emulator you can leave the drive on warp speed and that would actually make this game playable. Never got very far as it took forever to do anything with all the loading. Might be worth a try. I know it had a Genesis release and probably other platfroms (Amiga?). Just worth mentioning for the loading it did. Infiltrator wheel update: Before: After: Wacky Races: Was not in any of the 3 No Intro sets just like how the wheel turned out. Blood Valley Wheel Alternate: Wheel1: My Alternate Wheel: Cheers! Cleaned up my wacky races to get rid of the edges showing.
dougan78 Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Updated Post 1. 58 Wheels/Artwork3 added. Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday (USA, Europe): This is rather a unique game imho. It is like a gold box game but in outer space. Story is great. Another one that is a good game to play if you are into RPGs or Sci Fi RPGs Drelbs (USA, Europe): Fun puzzle game. Make as many boxes as you can with out getting caught but the square thing chasing you. Good time waster and fast paced. Mighty Bombjack (Europe): Pickup all the bombs to get to the next level while flying/leaping around. Another good game to play. California Raisins, The (USA): Never played this one, but figured I would just mention it as a throw back to the era. I heard it to the grape vine..... 796 Total Wheels so far!!!!!!!
