nathan1974au Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I absolutely love RetroFE it's simple but elegant. at the moment I transferring artwork over to retrofe giving it a trial. quite a smooth little frontend. (Midlife crisis) some have hot rods, some have gold chains, I have arcade machine with hyperspin.
Awakened Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I made a video of RetroFE using my Flatio layout, plus gameplay mainly using RetroArch: Development has slowed over the last month or so. There aren't any major bugs I've noticed in the latest version; it could just use some more features. Any programmers out there interested in working on it would be appreciated.
phulshof Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Here's a video showing off new layouts, including a wheel based one: https://youtu.be/t2XEkKd6gYk
ninja2bceen Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Looking good. Would love to see more game info utilized somehow. I like the idea of submitting global themes. It may be just as much work though to create as it would be hyperspin though. Like the idea for sure, seems limitless Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
phulshof Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Do you have a link to the Carousel style theme? The theme is discussed here: http://www.retrofe.com/forum/index.php?topic=136.0 TimmyB just finished it for the video, so I think he'll upload it soon to be included with the next version of RetroFE.
phulshof Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Since I was playing around with video recording anyway, I figured I'd record some more RetroFE work:
Awakened Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The Windows XP error sound on that Emumovies preview video for Super Mario World everyone uses in their frontend videos will never not annoy me
phulshof Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 We all work with what we have. [emoji4] I'm no graphics artist. [emoji22]
Awakened Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 We all work with what we have. [emoji4] I'm no graphics artist. [emoji22] Your theme looks pretty good. The graphics aren't to my taste, but the positioning of everything is nicely done.
zerojay Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 The Windows XP error sound on that Emumovies preview video for Super Mario World everyone uses in their frontend videos will never not annoy me Especially since it got replaced quite a while ago.
phulshof Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Your theme looks pretty good. The graphics aren't to my taste, but the positioning of everything is nicely done. Well, I invite anyone to take what I created, and improve on it. I mainly created my themes so people would have some choices available, but I'm always open to improvement.
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I had a go mate... here is where I am at with this now... great work BTW guys Simply Austin's YouTube

I have a pacmaze art theme on one of my bartops, this would compliment it perfectly.. Anyway I can get these themes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
phulshof Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Some, including mine, are included with RetroFE. Some can be found on the RetroFE forums, and others are still under development. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
phulshof Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 I had a go mate... here is where I am at with this now... great work BTW guys Nice work on your theme, SA. As I've said before: I'm very bad at graphical design, and I can produce a decent theme, so imagine what a real artist could do.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Thanks mate. Would really like to go to town on this one. The stuff I was doing was just to see how this worked in my head. Although I'm temped to make a standard one again like this hehehe Its fantastic work you done here mate, I think you have more than you realize Simply Austin's YouTube

Awakened Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I had a go mate... here is where I am at with this now... great work BTW guys Nice work! The Flatio name is just something I randomly came up with, it being a "flat" colored theme by default.
SkyHighGam3r Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Forgive my ignorance, but after watching the video (No audio, so maybe I missed something) I don't see what the difference is? It just seemed like a showcase for various HyperTheme creations...
rust2dust Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I am going to be nit picky.....I just hate the logo... Dont get me wrong....I understand branding ,but the logo is huge on the main screen. Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
marxkemp Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Its a frontend with already great features. The logo in the splash can be changed with your own. Try and read the information on the website, forum and wiki. Play with it. I run it side by side with HS with the same rocketlauncher setup.
Styphelus Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Forgive my ignorance, but after watching the video (No audio, so maybe I missed something) I don't see what the difference is? It just seemed like a showcase for various HyperTheme creations... Well...there isn't much difference. It was supposed to offer additional features like sub-wheels and widescreen support but it's still lacking a lot at this stage. There's also zspin which is similar but also lacking a lot, especially when it comes to themes and a proper user interface. If any of them supported hyperspin themes, had something like HyperHQ and a theme editor, I would jump ship in a heartbeat.
marxkemp Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Next version has subwheels and I only have widescreen monitor.. ive been working with an update they made. Ive you would ask them on irc (or phulsof) they may supply it. Thats not my say as it contains bugs.
phulshof Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 Well, with emb taking a break to enjoy life, I've taken the liberty of creating a new beta release, and while that's cooking I'm taking feature requests for the next release. The next release will be theme focused, with support for themes per collection or even per game, and additional theme features and fixes. I'm also working on getting all the features up and running for zerodreams' Nox based theme; attached some WIP screenshots.
