I'm designing a high-tech "global theme", what do you think?

As much as I love the skins of hyperspin, there is no consistency across all the different systems.

Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that - I just wondered what a "global theme" would look like, that is consistent across the board.

I loved the theme 8bitmonk designed, but he decided not make it available...

So I decided to give it a shot, and as I love the High Tech/Industrial look, I came up with this:

I could also change the base color easily.

Here is pretty much what it would look like on an actual cabinet:

At the bottom of the theme, there is a fog effect, made with particles. (I tried recording a video with Fraps, but couldn't get it to record :hmmmm2:)

The Top glows are animated too, and sort of move up and down.

The pointer at the bottom also works, and the image you see behind the Box-Art is actually the video.

I couldn't figure out how to centre align the game-info text yet (does anyone know?)

Would anybody be interested in a "global hyperspin theme" like this, or am I just being silly here?

PS: I have not made the main menu theme yet, but it would have a similar graphic style.

I really like the idea of a cool global default theme. It would take some of the pressure off of adding new systems that don't have a plethora of media/themes available yet.

Yep. Exactly this.

From the looks of your theme keeper you would only need boxart and an emumovie. Wheels are the things that most people can't get their hands on easily but there would be alot of more complete setups with a global theme.

this is a master peice excellent job love it what program do you use to make really awesome themes just curious

I use Corel Draw - most of it is vector. I then use Paint Shop Pro to add some texture (overlaying the basic design with metal/scratches/etc)

I'm wondering what to do on the sides though - maybe thought of adding some 3D Wires or something as it's very empty there at the moment....

Any Ideas?

well i just love this theme. in fact I wanted something like this for a long time. Yet somehow you went into my brain and saw what I liked and made this beautiful theme. If you're looking for ideals in the left and right corners. I think you should have wires hanging down kinda like they were torn out and maybe have a wire shooting off sparks and slightly swaying left to right. the wires should look like they have components attached to them. the wires also should be different sizes and shapes. your theme is so organized i think a little wire mess can add balance to it but just by itself i love it. please tell me you have a Super Nintendo theme.

I gotta admit... I really like the look and really wish we would have more universal themes created for HyperSpin. I'd also like to see some simple, non-flashy, themes done for those people coming from other FE's such as Maximus or MALA.

Yeah I like this too, would be nice to have alternative sets like these to refresh your setup from time to time.

Actually would be nice if we could do main menu themes where some of the artwork is grabbed from the media folder, for example on themes like this we could simply have a standard main menu theme and then the logos for each console would be on one of the artwork folders, no need to do a theme per system. I think BBB already mentioned something along these lines for HS2.0, but I'm don't remember for sure.

A similar idea was also done by a member here a way back which I really liked:

I think this is koolbrez work, might be mistaken though.

This is a good idea, great work :-)

I'll have a look into this myself too, shouldn't take too long to come up with something. We also need to remeber that this is hyperspin, we dont want to get too far away from what makes it original in the first place, if you now what I mean.

I would absolutely love a theme like this. If you could upload any of this somewhere, I would make it my focal point. I've had a lot of stuff I couldn't put to paper but this is just about everything I wanted. I've done the flashy mario's, sonic's, etc. but I really really want something like this for a cab. I started at Maximus, did that, but Hyperspin is the level above the level above & to me the general them is almost perfect. I have some personal tweaks but this is the foundation I want to be working on. I give it two thumbs up, a wink, a Coke, & a smile. If you ever upload this I'll be there in line first like a Star Wars fan would. :)

These are awesome themes I have to say. Any progress on them? Also, am I alone in thinking the videos should be a little brighter? I see where you're going with it by hiding it in the background and letting the boxes do the talking, and maybe it's just my monitor, but they look a bit too dark for me.
