emb Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 I have uploaded a new version. See the first post for the link. Changes include: - A fix for when the list filter crashes when scanning. - Fixed match percent column in rename roms. - Loosened fuzzy scanning match percent in rename roms. - Add match support for things like 2nd vs second or 1st vs first in rename roms. - more UI changes in rename roms. Deadly Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Not sure if I've experienced a limitation or simply just unsupported? I am attempting to use your latest beta/tools against the Pleasuredome Dreamcast set. There's only one setting that picks up any games (System - Other) and combined with fuzzy match it finds 3 games out of 347. I've tried any and all combinations - setting extension to zip instead of *, trying all different romset extensions - etc. PD uses this type naming convention - 102 Dalmations Puppies to the Rescue [us][unk][vga].zip They typically contain .cdi, .mds/.mdf and IIRC there's a few .NRG's in the mix as well. So the question is - am I doing something wrong or is this not implemented/supported? Thanks.
emb Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Do you know if there is any documention describing this naming convention? If you find it I will add support for it. Also, how are the files inside the zip file named? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2 %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
Deadly Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The files inside the zip as I explained earlier are MOSTLY .cdi A fewer amount of images are Alcohol 120 .mdf files Lastly a small handful or NERO .nrg files As far as naming convention - yeesh. No idea honestly only a guess. Cannon Spike[us][ech][vga] Name of game - NTSC - Group who created - (VGA NO IDEA) The problem is there appears to be a bunch of different naming conventions going on.
emb Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Are the contents inside of the zip files named in the same convention? %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
emb Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 I will add support for this convention in a future release. If you ever come across any documentation on this naming standard, send it my way. I would like to make sure the tool fully supports this convention. Deadly Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I asked for info over at PD. BTW there's a mega Sega DC dump coming down the pike around Christmas Time. Still good to have both ways enabled with your program I suppose.
Deadly Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Back with another request. Nothing is perfect in life and this program is no different. Fuzzy matching is kind of weak when it comes to matching multi disc games. With that being said, could you add the option that when a person clicks on a games as "guessed" on the right hand column, then the left hand column "guessed" match is automatically highlighted as well? Not a big deal but certainly eliminates the need to scroll and select. Thanks!
Deadly Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 No additional help over at PD except for TOSEC which I'm sure you're well aware of - but in case you weren't.
Bobbydigital Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Just like to say thanks for this amazing tool! It has saved me so much time and frustration I couldn't be more thankful. Thanks emb!
bmosley Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Every release gets better and better. Love these tools! Keep up the awesome work emb
emb Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 Comments like that are what keep me motivated. Thanks! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2 %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
Faahrev Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Great job man! I''ll read the thread first and will comment on suggestions later. Keep up the good work! Keep on Spinnin' !
AxelTerizaki Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 First I would like to thank emb for pointing me to his tools with my ROM renaming troubles. While the tool isn't perfect, it's certainly helpful when it comes to matching ROMs together. I tried it on my Dreamcast TOSEC set though, and didn't get much results. It didn't guess any of my ISOs (they were all in individual zip files). I could PM you a log if you'd be interested?
emb Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Please do so. I would like to make sure you had your configuration setup correctly. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2 %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
potts43 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hi Emb, I've been using the filter xml today with the purpose of populating empty fields created from a scan of a rom folder. Obviously, I had file names and descriptions auto filled so I had to manually fill 60 records for manufacturer and year. I quickly realised I could turn off the mame columns and then I turned off all but the two I needed. It was so easy to do! Thank you. My only requests now would be to save the config as is...all tabs and ticky boxes etc. as when I reloaded the saved config I had to set everything up again to finish it. Also I couldn't find a way to add a record. I had to open the xml externally, copy a record & paste it back in. Would it be possible to add this function...a simple add/duplicate/delete record. Overall this prog has come along way since v.12 Brilliant!

I will throw in a custom field so you can prefilter out useless portions in a filename (I.e. set your custom filter to "dw-sat-%d-,-usa" to convert dw-sat-0662-Nascar_98-usa.cue to Nascar 98.cue before matching to help improve matching reliability). This should minimize any issues with games having funky naming conventions. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2 %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet

dompau Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hi, just a quick note, speaking of those on/off displays, I don't get why the column I really wanted to avoid displaying because It's unnecessary to me.. hasn't got its checkbox, the "Status" one.
emb Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Hi, just a quick note, speaking of those on/off displays, I don't get why the column I really wanted to avoid displaying because It's unnecessary to me.. hasn't got its checkbox, the "Status" one. There is a status checkbox in the view. Its under the MAMEList show/hide. Is that the one you are looking for? %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
emb Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Fuzzy scanning has been sizably improved. I accidentally had it setup to not filter underscores "_". This would fix all romsets with underscores that were not matching previously. Also added a custom pre-filter option. This should be a BIG help for users with uniquely named romsets. Let's say you have a game named: dw-sat-0662-Nascar_98-usa.cue You can pass in dw-sat-%d-,-usa. This will make the pattern matching compare just Nascar_98 with whatever is in the hyperlist (Nascar 98). (The matching tool will automatically filters out those _, spaces, and other unecessary characters for you). jeanvion Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 EMB first of all, congrats with the great work you did in the renewed hyperspin tool! It makes managing hyperspin a lot easier and now for almost every system which was lacking in the first version... Now, having pampered you and all i'm gonna go to my question: The tool is really easy to use but I still would like to see a tutorial to know that i'm doing what i think i'm doing! Does a tutorial exist for the new version or are you waiting for the end of the beta?
