emb Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Hi Don,I've been configuring ZiNc and found a discrepancy in the naming of the roms. HS wants roms naming "aquarush.zip" to run but obviously they won't audit as the xml wants numbers also. List generator wants everything naming "63.zip". No artwork/media shows in HS unless its numbered so we end up with media being numbered and roms being letters. As your program uses the xml it wants numbers. So both HS and LG need both naming conventions which seems mad. Any thoughts.? I've ended up with media numbered 1-71 and roms named. Tricky!! Cheers I have no idea what you just said. potts43 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Haha...No probs...ill send some pics - it was very odd to set up. You'll see what I mean.
potts43 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Hi Emb, sorry if I confused you earlier. I think it is an anomaly but it took me a while to find out I wasn't going mad! I setup ZINC outside of HS as normal. I had no problem getting the roms to run but noticed that the ROMS were numbered and not named. They were 1.zip, 2.zip etc. When I started to set it up inside of HS I noticed that this was an issue. The games wouldn't run and a dos screen would pop up and then after about 10 secs an .AHK error would show itself. I was lost. I did some research and discovered that the ROMS must be named and not numbered. After a while I worked out what 1.zip was supposed to be. For the examples I provide 63.zip was renamed to aquarush.zip. Once I did this they ALL worked without issues. I read the official Hyperlist XML script and it clearly shows that the roms are numbered and not named. However, my roms were named: This obviously clashed with the official XML as it was looking for numbered ROMS and not names. Therefore the Hyperlaunch HQ game Audit showed 0. However, I tried renaming the XML from numbers to names and that didn't work. The only way roms would run was if they were names. This is aquarush.zip running - 63.zip would not run. When I load your program it uses the same XML program and therefore shows RED cells indicating that there are no roms available. The Wheel and Video for aquarush are green but that is because they are numbered 63.png and 63.mp4. If I name them then HS doesn't see them because of the XML entries. Confusing hey? So we have roms named and media numbered. If we don't do it that way then the roms won't run or the media can't be seen! I believe that ZINC is hardwired to run the roms by number but why HS couldn't be programmed to send number 63.zip for aquarush.zip and have an XML that has names and not numbers I don't know. BUT like I've said I've tried changing the XML and roms to match but it doesn't seem to work. The next issue I saw was that I have both vid snaps and stills in the same folder as we are supposed to, so that if there is no video available it displays the still. However, regardless of whether there is video or not the video cell is green - ONLY if there is a still present. If there is neither still nor video then it is red. But either then green. Would it be possible to have separate cells for still and video? I would like to know if I only have a still without having to run HS or go looking. Can I ask you why the Artwork cell remains red even if there is a still available - it only goes green if there is artwork in 1-4. . Also...would love to be able to select cells and be able to enter data directly and then save it. I know from posts that lots of people have struggled to set Zinc up. It took me a few days to see this issue. I'm not really sure what you can do about the naming issue but it may help other people out there. Possibly, if you can look at the cell queries that would be fantastic.

emb Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Regarding the ability to edit cells. Its a low priority feature. I'll add it to the backlog. There has not been a strong demand for it yet. potts43 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Emb, would it be possible to be able to choose to deselect roms/artwork to rename using the "Dons HyperSpin ROM Renamer" - when it gives you the results could there be an option to not rename a particular match if it is clearly wrong? If there was a ticky box option for rename on/off I guess that would suffice.

monkeychunkuk Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Will this work with older version of hyperspin

emb Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 The rom renamer does not touch the artwork; unfortunately I cannot help there. That is quite obscure that the roms are numbered. The rom rename matches by the name tag for the rom itself and not the description. Why do the roms have to be numbered? Ive never used zinc, but I would think that the name fields in the xml file should be updated to be the game name. potts43 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Don't know why but it is as if the emulator is hard wired for the 71 roms and will only run them numbered. Maybe that's why they're numbered in the xml too? It's just bizarre that they won't run correctly named aquarush.zip from HS they must be 63.zip or whatever that roms number is. That causes issues as then the xml wants numbers so the artwork has to be numbers or HS can't see them, hence that's why your prog sees artwork but not roms. Not sure why HS was set up like this??

potts43 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Do you know why the rom names in the xml are numbers but if you number the roms to match the xml they won't run?
