#188...

I can't follow that either... damnit!!!

EVeryone keeps making instructions that go off about module explanation!!

Past 2.1 on the instructions it starts going off in another direction. What I'm looking for is like

simple easy to follow instructions.

Step 5: Configure and enable EDS within your favorite Front End. Within HyperHQ, set the path for EDS root folder and enable LED Blinky.

Seriously?... *sigh*..

Ill check out the posts, thanks

what your serious issue?

I just need to take a nap and realize that there is nothing I can do to make this work. I have an IPS monitor, all the artwork, but i just cant seem to get anything at all to work

Why does it have to do that??? Explanations in tutorials are confusing. Here is the problem. Explanations (all together should go at the very introduction before the step-by-step process starts...)

then it should go step 1, step 2,... until it is complete. Methods and explanations just mindf*** the f*** out of the person trying to follow the instructions

if it that much of a issue.

make it yourself?

seem like the whole thing you are experience is completely personal issue all together.

nothing perfect.

this is a project in the making so everything is still being made for it.

i know it can be done, regardless of what phase its in ... everyone on youtube is just like HAHA! I got it to work, but Im not telling you how, and thats annoying.

I have no issue helping anyone period here on this project.

if you really need support/troubleshoot is my role here.

but if you want to overcome your problems then you should probably discuss with me outside of the forum to get you some result

this is just my personal statement from me... this is really hard to do for computer beginner or for the individuals whom just use web browser. you have to computer experience on your belt.

in order to even config this,

it require some understanding of basic of CLI and how programs use it.

let me be clear about this, hyperspin doesnt do everything on it own, it need addons to get more out of it.

that why Antos, himself alone, made these programs to achieve that.

to get anywhere, understand what the purpose of each program does, then it might serve you some good of how it function contribute to the next.

To Antos and SevenSeal (and everyone else involved in creating HyperMarquee),

I just wanted to say a big thank you for a wonder piece of software! I've been reading in the past few days of people having many troubles setting HyperMarquee up. I'd just like to let you know, from my perspective, yes...it does take some learning to get your head around it (just like HyperSpin, or MAME for that matter). But once you've got it running, it gets easier exponentially.

And just so that Antos and SevenSeal will know that their hard work is well appreciated, here is my current setup using MAME, HyperSpin and HyperMarquee:

Thank you guys!!! Keep it coming!

Happy Saturday!

Ad hoc TIP time. :D

For the ones who like to communicate information (Text, Image & Video) to gamers about the current selected game, this is easy using external sources of information. HyperMarquee is compatible with HyperList & GameInfo. They provide the possibility to display text and images based on game tombstone data using fields (wild cards) like; [GoodName], [Company], [Year], [GameType], [Language], [NumPlayers], [series] & [Rating].

1. Configure HM by pointing to the proper source files

1.1 - Game Info within HyperLaunch! [system.ini]

1.2 - HyperList! [system.xml]

2. Use the fields (wild cards) within your favorite media!

I did a small update to the marquee. The actual marquee part stays the same, but what I'm now calling the "billboard" above it will now be just that, a billboard "advertising" various things that would have been from Flynn's Arcade. I wasn't too sold on the displaying "metrics" of each game selected thing. I wanted the display to be a bit more fun. I think this idea fits the bill. The "billboard" image changes every 20 seconds (...so, wait for it!) and each image in the "billboard" I created myself. I think it looks pretty snappy, if I do say so myself. :-)

What do you think?

Question...from my previous post, I was showing off my new "billboard" marquee design. With it's current configuration, I can show one primary image and 5 alternate images. And as far as I know, that's all you can do. Is there any way now or in future releases to display random images from a specified folder?

Yes absolutely, you can display random artworks that pertain to a folder.

use the [RandomFile] field/wildcard in the Artwok section.

C:\Users\Desktop\HyperMarqueeTest\artwork\[RandomFile]

Check cycle and the duration.

Ok, got it. That works beautifully. Now, another question...

So, I now have this random artwork running...starting up as the front end starts and stays running. What I want to do is for it to STOP running once I select a game to play. THEN, start up again once I stop the game and come back to the HyperSpin menus. I've tried a few different combinations of event id's, but can't get it to perform this behavior.

Any ideas??

From what I can see, the only way to achieve this is to close this instance on game launch (using EDS) and launch a similar display (just no cycling), still on game launch. So 2 different instances for two different menus. That should work, let me know.

you want to put a 4 in your close filter in eds for your hypermarquee config for that display

I did originally have a 4 in the close filter, but the random artwork kept functioning and not shutting down. If you look back at my last video I posted, you'll see that artwork displaying above the marquee. The ideal thing is for that random artwork to stop when a game is selected and then start back up again when the game is exited and you're back at the HyperSpin menu.

then lets try a 9 as well

Tried it with 9 in the close filter as well, still not correct result. I'm going to look into what Antos say in his last post and give that a try. But if you have any other ideas, please feel free to share. :-)

Ok...so that I'm straight on what your saying, let me recap. Create two separate instances, one with the cycling artwork and set that one to close on game launch. Then the second to launch on game stop, but with not cycling.

Is that correct? If so...then this might not work out because I still want to retain the cycling option after game stop.

Ok...Antos and SevenSeal,

Here is my current EDS_Settings.config. The one I'm concerned with is labeled "MAME-Banner_Artwork", where it should be running while no game is playing, but turns off after game select. The other, "MAME-Marquee_Image" works as it should...meaning it stays off while not running a game, but turns on after game select.

Any advise would be most helpful.

Thank you for the reply. Too bad.

A suggestion for a workaround:

What about adding an optional checkbox for Marquee style "Hyperspin Theme" on the HS Theme tab "Use artwork file as background when Background.png is not found" (or words to that effect). This way, if you have a theme with only a .swf background at least you would be able to place artwork in the folder specified by the "Artwork File" location from the Artwork tab to display a static background. (Or if it makes more sense to you, or seems too confusing to "recycle" the use of the artwork file path in this way, just add a place to specify the artwork location on the HS theme tab)

Just a thought...

Regards,

dinodino

Hi Antos,

Wondering if you happened to see this post regarding a potential workaround with SWF animations used for theme backgrounds. Just curious if this would be a technically feasible approach (before I modify a bunch of themes ;) ). I'm not sure I've succeeded in describing it well, so if the description is unclear or you have questions please let me know.

Again many thanks,

dinodino

Sure,

As of now, there are two ways to achieve this that I can think of.

1. Just use the background artwork that you can parameterize within the 'Global Setting' section. When there is no background theme displayed, then the background of your choice will be displayed.

2. Place another instance under the theme instance with a transparent background for the theme. Then when there is no theme background available, you will see artwork(s) behind your theme as a background image.

I tested option 1, it worked pretty well for me. Here is a screenshot.

Let me know if this works well for you.

Hi.

I sent you a request on skype as well as an email. I'm looking for some help please. I still can't get all of my system artwork to display on the marquee. About half of them work. While I'm in the EDS configuration utility I'm successfully able to display the mame logo for example. But it doesn't work while in hyperspin.

Please help me out.

Thanks

Junky
