    The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

    We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Swear anytime I see a posting of a "NEW ARCADE FE" and it looks like this, my eyes throw up just a little. Let'em throw their little fits.

Very much indeed, 2nd thought is GameEx anyone?

Yeah, isn't that pretty much what 80% or so of the new front ends look like? That shit is just so outdated lol. Another reason to love HS.

Well, Hyperspin is a little too flashy and GameEX is superior to Hyperspin in many ways.

BLASPHEMOUS!!! ;)

Seriously once we get a good htpc theme from one of the many talented creators here we won't have to settle for the Arcade default theme.

And honestly I said this before Gameex one ups HS only in emu frontends by the fact that tips and tricks /game synopsis and other information can be viewed when selecting a game.

Once djvj releases the new HL, from what I gather this is going to no longer be an issue.

But hey some people like the "simple look" and Gameex does indeed capture that.

A good htpc theme would go a long way, in fact, one can make HS look as bland and "un-flashy" as one wants, though, people's preferences will always differ. But.. effort has to be put in, or one needs to be lucky enough someone else does it for them.

Another feature GameEx has over HS is a good search function as far as I can recall.

No flash? What's the point? I want my machine to be something everybody remembers lol. DJ and his crew can accomplish much, I have full faith in them!

I wonder if people who want less "flashy" themes would like the defaults I've made:

Some have a fair bit of empty space, but I think they look pretty great overall. I do use custom sized boxart though, 525 max width for wide boxes, 525 max height for tall boxes. 450x450 for some of the portable systems that have square boxart, since the image of the system takes up a fair amount of space. I changed the game description text style and location too, so you have to edit the settings inis to make it look like those screenshots.

Yea see for console builds I think themes like this are ideal. I think wheel/default flashy style is for people that are going to run Arcade/console emulators in cabs but for the Retrobox/htpc these win me over.

How many themes do you have done? User Zero Dreams took a stab at these basic themes as well but I don't think he ever released them.

Also imo it makes it much easier to add games because Boxart is way easier to find/readily available than making wheels.

I still use wheels, but I just plugged a boxart into my wheel folder to see how it looks and that works pretty well. I'd just have to adjust the wheel position to get the spacing correct and turn off the wheel fade. I have Wonderswan Color, MAME, PC Engine, PC Engine CD, Famicom, Super Famicom, GB, GBC, GBA, PC, Sega CD, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Master System, Neo Geo Pocket Color, and Playstation done. I tend to tweak them a lot, but they're in a good place right now, so I might post them soon. I'll have to experiment using box arts as wheels a bit.

Edit: It doesn't seem like I can tweak the x of the wheel to move it left a bit to fix the spacing and it scales down my large boxarts, so I think I'll keep using wheels and leave boxarts as artwork (I don't have any missing wheels, since I create ones when I can't find any for a game, even if they end up looking as good as ones made by people with actual PS skills).

Sorry Sudo,I usually agree with what you say but this is just comical.I was a GameEX user before migrating to HS and let me tell you GameEx is no fun.Every time there is a update 1 thing is fixed and 3 things are broken.Thats why its always at a odd release number like 12.07,12.08 and they come out a day after one another. Please when I was using GameEx I spent more time in the config menu (which thankfully can be launched from inside the FE) then i did playing games.GameEX is a jack of all trades,yet a master of none.HS does one thing-GAMES.And HS does games better then all the rest.The only thing GameEX could do that HS couldnt that I missed was GameEX's ability to display game manuals,and I have a feeling that is too be rectified in the near future.

Every time there is a update you can guarantee their forums will be filled with "GameEX no longer works after update" threads

GameEX is a media centre that has a rediculously easy config system but it's boring as hell. if I wanted list I would have stuck with gameex but HS is more of a community than just a frontend forum. truthfully sudo, name one innovation gameEX has over HS in terms of gaming system as for game synopsis, boogieman_nl covered that with hyperspeech :P

New post in topic on klov

And the winner is...XBOX! Hyperspin is nothing more than a Hyperpain! Congrats to all who have it working correctly, but too much stupid b.s. trying to get it to work right. (I've got more than 100 roms that play perfect in Hyperlaunch, but Hyperspin fails to launch them using Hyperlaunch?= stupid).<br />

<br />

And good luck to you guys when the Hyperspin elite change the names on you to stay "special."<br />

<br />

I know MAME on the Xbox is dead, but it is plug and play, and has more than I'll ever need.

I post these because that is the thought of hyperspin on KLOV. It is a major arcade site that has a lot of potential users. It does not hurt to have "brand advocates" for hypsrspin on other sites. Maybe you don't care about 1 person, but those single users add up and unsatisfied users are a lot more vocal than satisfied ones.

Maybe post FifthDread's HS tutorial:

So they can see it's not all THAT complicated.

Lol!! What a train wreck! But much like a train wreck I couldn't look away. But in a way you're right, I think he covered the fact that if if you don't give up and randomly click settings on and off it will eventually work...even if you can't remember what you did...actually this doesn't help our case at all lmfao

Bunch of whiners that don't have 5min worth of patience. Funny if they hate HS so much why haven't they moved on to talking about maximus or gamex. Still talking about HS.....

Well, we should make our own then. Anyone up for it? lol

I've been considering doing one for a while now but the uncertainty of when the new HyperLaunch is being released and not being included among the beta testers means that I won't start on it for a while. Don't really see the point of going through it if so much of it will end up being out of date soonish.
