relic Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Hi guys so i was coming up with an idea of would it be ok if the whole member group work on a project for hyperspin with a complete artwork only package with out roms or emulators just artwork pack with the correct listing of hyperlist to match as the hyperspin project 2.0 was shutdown and as the prratko one is out of date it would be nice to have a new updated project complete for hyperspin only with its artwork and once complete hosted on the ftp or whichever you prefer so with a click of the button its all set for you and then all you need to do is get teh games etc yourself. thx regards relic 100%

relic Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 How about we start showing stuff off which is being worked on and as well have a voting system which ever artwork etc wins the voting comptetion those would be the ones to go offcial for hyperspin 2.0 what you guys think of that im sorry its just its hard to find updates on what artwork is being worked on or added to the hyperlisting 100%

Last thing we want is a voting for anything. Simply viewing a few examples to make sure art is upto par, then the assignee can run with it. Project covers way more than anything you have seen on these release threads. Things need to move along, not get bogged down by voting. We have the guidelines up front, if they are not followed, than that art is not part of the project. If there are any errors found later, that's OK, just swap out what's bad. brolly Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 yeah more workers and less chatters is what we need.
bb_neo Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 relic, man that was a hell of a sentence! You beat my lawyers. :-) Do you sometimes use punctuation?

Because if we had it were people had visibility to it, it would have the usual leechers who only get in there just to take then push to have it finished instead of helping. Hence why my 2 database/artwork projects is locked down that only me and manic have access to it and the 4 artists helping on it dont. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 4 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Styphelus Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Because if we had it were people had visibility to it, it would have the usual leechers who only get in there just to take then push to have it finished instead of helping. I don't agree with that at all. Some people might leech but not everyone is a talented artist or has Photoshop or even knows how to use it. If you keep people out, they will eventually move to a different front end. Hyperspin is extremely hard to set up from scratch for any first time user, especially the new hyperlauch and git and all that other stuff that needs to be setup. You really have to be in these forums all the time to know what's going on. Preventing people from accessing art work is not the way to go about it. It frustrates everyone and they eventually move on. I do agree that it should be closed just to get everything in order, but it should be made available to everyone once it's complete. Just my 4 cents.
nogarth Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 And as I said once complete it will be released. The artists do post the images they do to the forum but the final images are in a private drop box that I own. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 4 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Just my 4 cents. 1) Its always released when its finished. 2) This whole setup is for the long haul. 3) If people wont wait then whatever.. 4) Its comments like this there worried about, hence the reason why the Hyperspin project is locked down. Styphelus Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 My comment was directed at calling people leechers. Don't think it's fair to call people that. Whatever!!!!
brolly Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I don't agree with that at all. Some people might leech but not everyone is a talented artist or has Photoshop or even knows how to use it. If you keep people out, they will eventually move to a different front end. There are a lot of other ways of helping besides doing Photoshop work, so sorry but that's not an excuse. Those who are really interested in helping out have no reason not to. That being said everything will be available eventually like it was originally stated, we will do it in our own timings though. Personally I don't care about people moving on to another frontend, everyone is free to use whatever frontend they feel like. The goal of the project isn't to get more users into HyperSpin, but to use those that are involved in it right now and want to put some effort into making top quality minted sets. Hyperspin is extremely hard to set up from scratch for any first time user, especially the new hyperlauch and git and all that other stuff that needs to be setup. I highly disagree with this, if you take the time to read the instructions you'll get it working in no time. It might have a learning curve, but if you put a bit of time into it you'll get the hang of it pretty fast.
bandit721 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Styphelus, I think a leech can be defined as someone who only takes and doesn't contribute positively to the community. Over the years we've all seen how some members feel entitled to updates or new artwork, or whatever - not appreciating the amount of time and hard work so many contributors (from BBB on down) put into this project/community to make it great. I don't want to speak for Nogarth but those are the people I think his comment was directed towards. If that description doesn't fit you, why get upset? Btw, you had mentioned in an earlier post that not everyone is an experienced Photoshop artist so they couldn't be part of the project, I think djvj mentioned in his thread announcing the Hyperspin Project that ANYONE could volunteer as there were plenty of things to be done besides artwork. Cheers
Polemicist Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I think it should be locked down. Hyperspin works perfectly fine with default wheel art and themes. The hand made wheels, boxes, themes etc take a lot of work and are very time consuming and really they are just eye candy overall. In fact I'd go a step further than locked down and say to have access to the new art we have a new user class above Platinum. Just by 2 cents.
zomboided Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Some of you need to get a grip, the majority of the community are leechers. Here are the stats that are presented to you when you log on : There are currently 419 users online. 98 members and 321 guests Most users ever online was 1,615, 09-24-2013 at 06:46 PM. Threads 27,313 Posts 269,146 Members 97,145 So even if 10% of the members are currently active...I can't believe we have more than 10% of those members, so < 1%, contributing to the art, databases, utilities, etc Me personally, I couldn't give a shit. I post stuff up that I want to work on, and I'm happy for whoever wants it to pick it up. I'm not interested in being part of some bullshit Hyperspin apartheid platinum community. I'm also more than happy to tell someone who thinks doing this stuff is my full time job to jog on. I don't argue that it'd be good to have more contributors though. We should encourage this for sure. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
