KlopjerO Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Thk can be harsh but I guess that just makes him dutch.. The populace here tends to speak their mind and be rather critical so I get that. I thank you all for giving me this boost. KlopjerO Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 I love where you're going with these. My only suggestion so far is go a bit bigger with some of your artwork. Its tough to find a size balance when you're working with different size/aspect logos from theme to theme. Just try and minimize that negative space.Good job on the animated backgrounds so far. Looks like you're learning it pretty well! Also, if you're wanting to match them better to mine... snag my high-res video border. I can send you a psd of it... although you'll have to do my flash video border trick to actually display them in theme. You mean the space that isnt used right ? | My themes / downloads | Get the MS-DOS Wheel sound pack | Get your MS-DOS game themes here | Get the MS-DOS wheel set here | My YouTube channel | WarcrafT - Lord of the clans |ZeroJay's Ultimate DooM archive
PacMan7 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Keep it up , Your doing a Great job. It's blended very well and I really like how it feels your moving with it.
THK Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 BTW don't let the criticism get you down. When i first started doing themes i got some real harsh backlash on some of it.THK literally called an old Wii theme of mine "the worst of these i've seen" once It was baaaaaad Luckily I'm not here just to take a piss at people and yes, I'm not always too subtle about speaking my mind If I saw that smiley face on the top of my morning coffee violence would ensue. +1 Have been busy with flash these past couple of days. and with some resultsCommodore 64 background - https://db.tt/uDp1fkkI feedback would be great I mean I know it's not much to look at, but it's a start. I coudn't see any weird jumps in the scrolling so I think it looks okay. Looks stellar ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Polemicist Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I remember that Wii theme. Wow how long ago that was. Seems like forever.
THK Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I remember that Wii theme. Wow how long ago that was. Seems like forever. It's this one. Thanks btw, reading through the thread again cracked me up Though a little rectification, it's by far not the worst theme I've ever come across, trust me. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Dime333 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I'm actually using that one. I Think it was the best one of the themes I found when setting up Wii in my cabinet. Which theme do you guys prefer?
KlopjerO Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 I've been analyzing the megathemes that gibba made. - The system logo's are stroke-less, no stroke, just a subtle gradient - the video border has an aluminum look with an inner frame that matches the gradiant of the system logo - the console always peaks over the video border - the joystick or game pad is always in front of the console and is enlarged creating a nice illusion of depth - the mascotte is on the other side of the video border and is usualy just as large or just a bit larger then the video frame. - The background has the theme of the console or has a reference to the manufacturer in colors that makes the other elements of the theme stand out. this is basically the way these themes are built up. I post this because i feel it might be useful for people to contribute. I know that writing this down is helping me to improve my current projects. | My themes / downloads | Get the MS-DOS Wheel sound pack | Get your MS-DOS game themes here | Get the MS-DOS wheel set here | My YouTube channel | WarcrafT - Lord of the clans |ZeroJay's Ultimate DooM archive

PacMan7 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I am very impressed with that Casio Loopy theme. I didn't expect some one to make one that good. I just bought that system at Goodwill for 5 Dollars because I wanted it so I could take pictures of the console but mine has a few scratches. You got a very good quality image. I only got a test cartridge with it but haven't been able to hook it up because I cant find an adapter for the system online. Keep up the good work.
KlopjerO Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Yes lombano realy did a good job getting the artwork together. I just re arranged some it and added a border and an anime girl that matched the color scheme.. Basically lombano did the hard work. To be honest my heavy metal core can barely handle this much unicorny sparkly purply happy happy joy Joy stuff.. KlopjerO Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 I Was browsing through the theme announcement thread, and noticed the Huge amount of obscure system themes that gamesmame has submitted. brolly Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Am I missing something, what's the point of having a Loopy theme? Is there even a working emulator for that system?
KlopjerO Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 Am I missing something, what's the point of having a Loopy theme? Is there even a working emulator for that system?it runs in MESS, or so I read. This took me 30 minuten tot Cook up as someone else had made a pad for his own theme, and to be honest I didnt even check for emulators, . One of our fellow spinners had posted it on the TT heme announcement section. I might be of help. What are you specifically trying to achieve? And how is flash not letting you do this? What I do to animate the background is: I import the psd . create a key frame, then make a motion tween and drag the background to my desired location holding shift. This way takes way to many frames and I have no control over speed. brolly Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Don't think it runs on MESS at all just by looking at the driver comments.

How much experience do you have with Flash bro? Perhaps make a thread in the Graphics section regarding your questions if you have a lot of them.
manicshere Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I would say you have all the control you're going to need. Don't understand how anything can take too many frames as it's a factor you decide yourself. I want to point out one thing about speed though. When you play around with flash in themes you will notice it acting differently on every PC. The animation is very much controlled, by the PC's performance in HS and it will almost always be different from how it looks and performs in flash. It's something you have to play around with and kind of find a common ground where the animation looks decent on older PC's and not insanely quick on newer rigs.
