Blackened15 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 So, I setup an automated process in Photoshop to change the "canvas size" of all the non-template wheel art to 400x175. Then, I automated all images to high resolution and converted them to widescreen. Non-Template wheel images all at their correct aspect ratios for widescreen. I hate how I wasn't doing that a long time ago. Oh well,,,,,,, I have replaced all of the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System Widescreen Wheel Art on my FTP. I must've have explained myself poorly a few days ago, because I asked this exact same thing and you told me this caused lag on your system. I've been using 400x175 for all my system, sizing them down if one or both of the value are higher, sizing them up if both value are much lower, then mass setting canvas to 400x175, and squashing them. I have a few system done already if you'd like me to upload them, n64, snes, nes, gba, gbc, dreamcast, mame, AAE
BakerMan Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 I must've have explained myself poorly a few days ago, because I asked this exact same thing and you told me this caused lag on your system. In fact, here's your question... "Also, you said you use wheel templates so your wheels all have the same width and height, but I personally like the default minted set with just the game logo, but these vary in height a lot. Would just resizing the canvas of those to a common size provide the same effect as using a template?" I want you to know that I did not mean to neglect that question. I based my initial answer off of my past dip-shitness. A long time ago when I was first learning the intricacies of photoshop I tried your theory only with a bigger canvas. Remember, I use to put the images on a 1366x768 canvas and shrink the image size to 1024x768. That's before I knew about using 75% or the trim option. Now, if you're canvases are that big THEY DO cause lag, but in the end... MY APOLOGIES BIG TIME. You did ask that question and you were VERY RIGHT. Good thinking,,,,,and I'm terribly sorry for being an idiot. Try posting examples in the future because I suffer from dip-shitidus. Also, I like to refer to myself as a "malfunctioned nerd." Hahaha... But in the end, and just to reiterate... YOU DID call that out. Thanks, maybe I kept that question subconsciously hidden in my brain. Lol P.S. --- Here's an awesome and quicker way to help you decipher what resolution to use for your canvas sizes... And there ya have it. Show your support for the Most Badass Project of them all! Blackened15 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Already knew about the windows dimension thing, but most bigger sets seems to at least have a few at 400x175 (which is my personal max, if anything is bigger, I resize down, if something is smaller on both width and size, I upsize to 400 or 175 keeping ratio, whichever get hit first). If it's only smaller on one or the other, or smaller on both, but only by a few pixel, it gets canvas-resized to 400x 175. One thing I haven't tried is if they all are on 400 width already, but vary greatly on height is to leave them alone and not re-canvas them to 175, I am unsure about the CPU hit of having more or less transparent canvas. Anyway, I uploaded Dreamcast and Mame wheels on my ftp if you care.
Blackened15 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Here a cool (or at least I find it cool) Modification SNES Super Mario Kart, converted to widescreen, and modified with an infinite scrolling background (ripped straight from the game and pieced together) so it now looks even more like the title screen. Obviously this doesn't show the awesomeness of the scrolling background on ftp in /Upload Here/Blackened15/Widescreen 16x9/Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Themes/ Edit: And just for a little bit of trivia, the swf for the scrolling background is 6kb more then 10x smaller then the original static background.
Blackened15 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 And here is another SNES Widescreen Theme, this one wasn't inspired by the official/minted theme. Animated (although just a small part of it, the Metroid) background In my ftp folder as said in the post above. Edit: Also added Super Mario RPG to my ftp, nothing much changed, extended the background (via Content-Aware Extend), converted to 16x9

Edit: Also added Super Mario RPG to my ftp, nothing much changed, extended the background (via Content-Aware Extend), converted to 16x9=Quote] Very good brother, but let's work on the Background to your Mario RPG conversion. Here' the original thread for the original theme... http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?21154-Super-Mario-RPG-Legend-of-the-Seven-Stars-%28USA%29-s1harvest-%2820121010%29 As you can see the Background image was stretched in the beginning. In my opinion the theme shouldn't have been approved in the first place. So, let's use s1nharvest's source material and see what we can do... Let's first work on the SWF... Next, lets move on to the Background... After that I converted the rest of the artwork via dark13's flash scripts and here's the more desired result... BOOM!! Hyperspin Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars (USA) Widescreen Game Theme (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) And there ya have it. Blackened15 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 After a few hours of learning and trial/error, I finally managed to create a flash script that turns a folder of 400x400 png disc scan into a bunch of self-contained disc rotating animation *.swf Edit: Change to V2, a bit less bumpy 4-3 PNG cd scan to WideScreen Rotating disc swf V2 /Edit Made this because I like to have spinning disc for default theme, but as I mentioned a few days ago, it's impossible to get a good looking spin animation through hypertheme on widescreen. It's not perfect, there is a bit of bumping (a few pixel) due to rounding error. Also thanks for fixing the SM RPG theme.

Hyperspin Sega 32X Widescreen Main Menu Theme (Sega 32X) Also, there was a particular game on NES that I was always able to beat everytime I played it as a kid. i was unstoppable. But over the past I don't know how many years now, I've had trouble with this "particular game." Until tonight....... I can finally rest easy..... Blackened15 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Updated the disc spinning script to make it a bit less bumpy, still not 100% perfect but I dont think I'll be able to make it better myself. It also now support any size up to 1024x1024, obviously if the original image is too far off from a perfect circle, the result will not be pretty. 4-3 PNG cd scan to WideScreen Rotating disc swf V2 I might have to go with decompiling the first animation I posted (any of the artwork4 in the dreamcast folder in my ftp folder) and manually replacing the image inside and "saving as" if this annoys me too much, as those animation seems less bumpy and smaller in size. But doing that a few hundred time gets old quick.

crane_minter Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I thank you for your great work and dedication which is impressive. I think the absence of comments was because the last posts were basically a back and forth conversation/tutorial between you and Blackened15. Conversation that while me being a complete noob in regards of the things you were discussing, I still enjoyed greatly.

Blackened15 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I too install your stuff as soon as I notice them, except a few themes I like the Unified theme better, or my own. Oh, and I plan on widescreening all the American Laser Games tonight, in case you had any plan on working on those, let me know so I dont waste my time
Blackened15 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 And here they are, pretty standard stuff here, no huge modification, except cutting out a lampost out of the background of Mad Dog, and lowering the video angle on the last bounty hunter Also included widescreen wheels, letters and pointer. Also included the special folder (those are the blue joystick animation) converted to widescreen, you can copy those to all your system, as they are all the same. In my ftp folder : /Upload Here/Blackened15/Widescreen 16x9/American Laser Games Crime Patrol: Crime Patrol 2: Drug Wars: Who Shot Johnny Rock?: The Last Bounty Hunter: Mad Dog McCree: Mad Dog 2: The Lost Gold: Space Pirates:

You're starting to enjoy this arent ya? lol Seriously man, I'm addicted to this like no other. I bet we finish everything within Hypersync quicker than ya think. Also, I can tell that your skills with Flash are improving big time. In fact, way better already than mine will probably ever be. With that said... here's something to think about. When dealing with special artwork; Do you think it'd be a good idea to try and make joystick animations for every system? You may wanna think about it - I bet you could crank out some good stuff. Blackened15 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 When dealing with special artwork; Do you think it'd be a good idea to try and make joystick animations for every system? You may wanna think about it - I bet you could crank out some good stuff. Well, I wouldn't bother with it until we get everything else done, which isn't soon Here is the last batch I made, I won't be online for the next few days. Some NES theme Asterix: Bionic Commando: California Games: Castlevania: (fun job with content aware tool, and you can see the original had some too on the mountain under the castle) Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2: (This was a boring theme imo, I switched the logo and video around) Double Dragon: (This one was hard, was either squash the dudes and they don't touch, or stretch em vertically and cut some of they clothes/underarm, I went with the later) Duck Tales: (This one uses a artwork1 instead of background, which was 1920x1080, I squashed it to 1440x1080 and left it as artwork1, to keep the zoom in) The Legend of Zelda: (Pretty mild theme for such a great game, I'd like to have a sword come down or something) All in /Upload Here/Blackened15/Widescreen 16x9/Nintendo Entertainment System/Themes Going to bed while uploading wheel/cart/box/pointer/letter/special, almost 1gb of pictures and my upload speed isn't that great, but themes are already there.
BakerMan Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Wow, I'm glad to see that I've inspired somebody to tag along and help out with this project. Those themes are very good and you've saved me time from having to do them myself. Thanks! Also, you reminded me of some I had already done awhile back. Hyperspin Abadox - The Deadly Inner War (USA) Widescreen Game Theme (Nintendo Entertainment System) Hyperspin Addams Family, The (USA) Widescreen Game Theme (Nintendo Entertainment System) The little blur you see on "Thing" is only due to him moving too quick. Lol. Watching it live is awesome. Next I wanted to comment on your Castlevania Theme up above. Now, I used your background and put it in mine. So, thank you very much for that, As of for the Video Frame I'd like to explain something... I've been consistent in the principles I've been using in order to accomplish flow amongst the themes I post. Please don't think I'm nitpicking, because you're already doing awesome and helping out BIG TIME. I try to stick to the resolutions that emumovies has to offer. Maybe you have different size videos? ... I don't know... But anyways, I did notice that you incorporated 640x480 in some of your themes which I congratulate you on... But some themes contain fixed video frames. Don't let that deter you from doing things accordingly to this thread. I took the video.png from the Castlevania theme and fit it around (proportionally correct of course) a 640x480 box in photoshop... so let me show you my rendition of the Castlevania theme... Hyperspin Castlevania (USA) (Rev A) Widescreen Game Theme (Nintendo Entertainment System) Same goes for the Legend of Zelda theme. Your video is too small (In my opinion) and whoever originally did the theme didn't cut everything out properly. Take a good look at the Gold Shield in the picture you posted. You'll notice a thin squiggly line going along the very top and another thin squiggly line at the bottom that extends onto the video. I had already touched that up a long time ago and here it is... Hyperspin Legend of Zelda, The (USA) (Rev A) Widescreen Game Theme (Nintendo Entertainment System) This next one I posted awhile back, but never uploaded it to my FTP. It's there now... Hyperspin Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (Japan, USA) (Rev A) Widescreen Game Theme (Nintendo Entertainment System) Everything else you did has been added to my collection. Thank you very much! Pretty awesome man. And that's that for now. Show your support for the Most Badass Project of them all! Subscribe to me on YouTube and Facebook!
