Great! I'll test the new exe tonight. Can you pm it or post it? I don't use defender but do have my Hyperspin folder excluded which is where this is at. Hoping for it to do it though! Was there anything wrong with Commodore 64 database? It looks funky in the results. Plus that turrican from commodore was displaying as an Snes game? When trying to launch it, it would give an error because it was trying to launch an Snes game but really it was a Commodore 64 game

Yes when i have attempted to create your database without set an exclusion for folder that contains hyperspin (and also hyperxmlspin) , database creation was very very long to create , after set an exclusion to windows defender , database creation process takes less than 2 minutes. I think windows defender is automaticly implemented to windows 10 , i think you have to made an exclusion for your full emulators & hyperspin folder , because windows defender ckeck every files modified or created like artworks , vids , xml , etc...

For turrican issue , i've fixed bug that come from script , now that appear again.

I see commodore 64 games are not wonky again, thanks

when I press exit, I have a white screen instead and the app doesn't actually close unless I press alt f4. I'm using esc as the exit method btw

Unfortunately, I still cant launch within hyperspins wheel. I get the same issue as before. I can launch the app maybe along with hyperspin so its running in the backgroup and it would be fine. Maybe that is what I have to do instead? Then I would just disable the wheels launch option

ok i've change hyperxmlspin to be run as admin , because that is maybe the solution.

just run this executable and when asked to run as admin click yes.

I thought I was ok but when I rebooted my machine hyperxmlspin ran at startup but then didn't minimise then when I ran hyperspin there seemed to be a conflict of which program had focus until I managed to close hyperxmlspin .

Running at start up runs fine for me and outside of Hyperspin. My focus issue if when launching from wheel

Also the newest version doesn't close using esc rather now if goes to a white screen and i have to alt f4 to close the white window

I'm going to try the run as admin tonight

Once we get this figured out I'll bundle my exported best games wheel and genre wheel

Basically I have genres as game groupings like mega man is a genre and I have all mega man games in it

@ Romano I wrote a script last night to toggle minimise / maximise hyperxmlspin it works well except :-

Program runs to fullscreen. I press the hot key and it minimises. I press the hot key again and the program runs again at fullscreen BUT without the background . I soon realised that it is as if the background and foreground(main screen) are separate and the background doesn't appear to minimise or maximise. It sits behind my explorer window. I used window spy to identify the windows but the background doesn't appear to have a name just a GUI reference without a unique identifier. Would it be possible to add a hotkey to minimise/maximise the program when it's ran as standalone and make an ini key which allows the user to determine whether it minimises on launch.

Why don't you use the HyperSearch Feature from HyperXMLspin control panel ? Just enable this function then set your hotkeys for quicksearch and multisearch...

Yes but you just have to press a key or a button to do it.

I don't understand why you want launch it minimized ? If you launch it , that's because you want to use it , no ?

I run it at startup. I have two buttons on my cabinet assigned to the single and multi search function. I can then call it at will but at the moment it steals focus over hyperspin. Am I miss understanding how it works? How would pressing a hot key open hypersearch if it's not already running?

Here is the new executable , with startup minimized.

Go to hyperxmlspin options , check "Hypersearch mode" , then check "Hide on Startup" , then click ok ;-)

That's cool. I may just have to not launch from wheel and instead auto start

I'm about to unpack my greatest games list and dedicated genres. Think genre as game icon dedicated genres like the ghost n ghost wheel and mega man wheel etc. oh and a genre for favorites across all systems. Eww it's sweet.

Romano, to share that is there a way so hyperxmlspin can look up your media in the exported wheel so I can just provide the xml?

Also I wonder if I can delete the media found in the xml folder once I have exported the wheel

Also for media, I've exported everything and now I wonder if I can delete any media from the hyperxml folder since I also see media in the exported area. Just trying to save space. Is it ok to deleted. Hyperxmlspin media from its folder after you export everything? Thanks

Yes , you just have to use the "delete" function from hyperxmlspin to delete full artworks & vids from this list from hyperxmlspin medias folder.

Xml list exported from existing hyperxmlspin list do not copy medias from hyperxmlspin folder but medias from all others systems medias folder.

Original medias folder from all your systems are never deleted by hyperxmlspin. HyperXMLspin can only edit , delete ... xml from hyperxmlspin.

If you need to delete a full main list exported , you need to do that with hyperHq , or manually.

Yes it's possible , i've wrote new lines to the app in order to do that , i've also updated readme.txt from package to explain how to do , look at this part :

HyperXmlSpin application without installation through HyperSpin is only for XML files created with full installation of HyperXmlSpin

Games from this list will be compatible with your games that have the same databases (xml) and same system name.

However a solution exist , to filter and increase compatibility with the list  , provided that you have a wheel artwork for each game from your media directories.

1 / Download & Extract HyperXMLspin_v1.6.9.7z

2 / Launch HyperHQ.exe (use main menu wizard) to add new item with same name than the list you have.(ex: list name : allbestgames.xml , item name : allbestgames)

3 / To the question "Does this menu item have a sub-wheel" click "yes"

4 / Select Where you want to show your HyperXMLspin Item on the list of items (select where you want)

5 / Go to wheel settings , select the Wheel you have created then "emulator"

6 / On Field Executable : Select HyperXMLspin.exe file that you have Downloaded & Extracted

7 / Select Execution : Normal , PC game : Disabled , Use Full Path To Roms : Disabled , Search Subfolders : Disabled

8 / On "Params" field : type , in quotation marks , hyperspin directory (where is located hyperspin.exe - do not add \ or / at the end)

9 / Leave empty for fields : Rom Path , Extensions - WinState : Hidden

10 / select "navigation/themes" , check "use xml indexes" , "Wheels only" ,"clones use parent videos","clones use parent themes" then Close HyperHQ.

11 / Copy XML list to use into directory created : /Hyperspin/databases/*your directory*/

Tip to filter games that are compatible :

Select and launch HyperXMLspin.exe

On parameters : select hyperspin directory (where hyperspin.exe is located)

Then click on "check medias" (Auto mode : all the medias from compatible games are copied , Manual mode : You will be able to check yourself your corresponding system & game name)

"Wheel Only" option from HyperHQ will filter games that you have same path for rom/iso & system ( only compatible games will be shown on HyperSpin )

Do you ever see a white message screen appear in the new version when you push esc then you have to alt f4 to properly close the new version

I've see that just one time , but i've not remember how that have appeared , and i've never see that again.

I think the best way to solve this kind of problems is to create a log file , because each time i ask many question to solve the problem.

A clear example would be say I create a genre of megaman. It's removed from the Hyperspin folder but it's a genre to save space. Say i need to add a game to it and resort. Currently I would have to re add the xml to the xmlspin folder to do all that.

I think this function already exist :

Select "export" then choose an existing exported wheel , then click ok , a window will appear to ask you if you want to edit or add your list.

 

I'm working on the script for the log file , i've never do that , it's takes time but it's not too many difficult.
