hyperhq is set to hidden btw. I notice that if I launch hyperxmlspin before I launch hyperspin that I can launch xml back and forth 100% of the time without problem. If I try to launch the app from hyperspins wheel however, I just get the transparent background when set to full screen. The fields never appear. If I go window mode and launch from hyperspins wheel, I just get nothing. I see in the task bar that its trying to do something and I have to exit the script to close it down. Btw it works great outside of hyperspin. I didn't check the dat creation considering the fix here could mess up the dat fix i'd bet.

Ok , i've rewrote some lines in the script again , it's a bit difficult for me to fix this bug because it doesn't appears for me in hyperspin.

It's very curious because i test with same config as you : windows 10 64b , hyperspin last version & joy2key.

Ya it was the move to Windows 10 that started all this focus issue stuff. Life got in the way yesterday, I'll try testing today

Yes i have same bug on win 7 , i ve found the error , i've fixed it on new executable.

@Ninja....but I'm on Win7 and having the focus issue with these newer versions so it can't just be a win10 issue. I've not tried the latest yet

not only did the latest version not crash, but you appear to have solved the focus issue for me on Win 7 64bt and latest HS updated exe.

Ew can't wait, I'll test focus, dat creation and a few searches that I know it was giving problems previously tonight. Potts post give me hope. I'll let you know tonight

tried everything and still have the issue on windows 10. also note the date file creation took way more than 10 min again. Such a bummer. Any other thoughts on this? it works great outside of hyperspin but cant launch from a hyperspin wheel

Im staying away from windows 10 as I've only heard that it causes issues

This is the only thing g not working since the update. It's true that two Taito games stopped working but that was it. It works but it never brings to focus through rocket launcher

I've got windows 10 & windows 7 on dual boot , and hyperxmlspin works perfectly with wheel through hyperspin , my database creation takes only 3 minutes for more than 80k games.

Of course there's problems that reports ninja2bceen , but they do not come from windows 10.

 

@ninja2bceen: i think your issue come from background  i've compiled new executable that allows to not show background if you re in full screen , try to unselect background image , then test with hyperxmlspin wheel

failed again. I wish there was a log file I could send you. I see it in the task manager and it wont even close unless I stop the script which then immediately closes the icon in the task panel. it works great outside of hyperspin though, wish it worked for me inside of hyperspin. it was great in windows 7 though too. anyhow, maybe you can send me your hyperspin settings, xmlspin settings etc so I have an exact copy of your windows 10 set up to see if maybe its something on my computer? note that my joy to key is running as admin maybe?

I don't recall the dat every having to take this long in prior version but since windows 10 it takes me like 3 hours for it to complete. My system is on an e drive for what its worth? so weird, thanks for keep trying

Have you tryed hyperxmlspin hotkeys to hide \ unhide quicksearch or multisearch if something happens ?

Another test : if you made alt+tab , does hyperxmlspin window exist or not ?

Yes I launch from Hyperspin and alt tab and don't find hyperxml behind it but rather I see it in the task panel and if I right click it I see options to parameters and such when j right click the icon but they are not responsive. What I do see is above those options when I right click I see stop script, when I do that it kills the app. Note that all other options are not responsive if I launch through Hyperspin. Everything outside of Hyperspin works great!

Note that I even tried another way in launching the app through Hyperspin which was to launch through rl, without fade in or fade out and launch as a pc game. It has the same symptoms as the other method you had laid out in the tutorial where I launch from wheel, I notice the theme freezes and xml never appears. If I alt tab I don't see it available but I do see the icon in the system tray but none of the options from the icon are usable except for edit script

Here is the kicker say I launch outside if Hyperspin, hot key to hide it, launch Hyperspin, I can open the search with hot key which is fine I suppose but I have a wheel for the app since it organizes genres nicely.

Maybe Commodore 64 is messing it up?

For example search turrican. There is a super turrican from the Snes which is correct but in the same results you will find turrican II the final fight and it shows up as under Snes system but it's really Commodore 64. The wheel art etc shows the Snes game that is a different name and won't launch the game. Maybe unrelated to the delay in dat and focus issue but maybe not?

I think there is errors from the hyperxmlspin.dat , I need your entire hyperspin databases folder to check the problem. Something is wrong or not usual somewhere in one of your xml and corrupt hyperxmlspin database creation , that s why it s so long to create.

Ya I think Commodore 64 ones are messed up in the dat file. Shows system is like ++++commodore64+++ others don't display like that

I tried to export and edited version of my current top games xml and it says it overwrites but I don't think it does. I removed the commodore game from the list and it was still there so I deleted the xml and reexport it to fix the issue

I wonder is there a way for the letter jump to read the xml so that letter jump works? I have it ordered by name but when I do letter jump, all I get is the ? Letter. Not huge but something nice to have for the export feature

ok finally i ve found the database creation error , that come from windows defender that analyse each time each lines added on hyperxmlspin.dat

I've set an exclusion in windows defender control panel for hyperxmlspin.exe process , and it takes less than 2 minute to create your database !

So maybe can can also test if that exclusion solve the background problem inside hyperspin wheel.
