Hi , potts43 , the validate button is the "OK" button of results gui , depending of your previous choice.

for ex : if "show" is selected , you need to select games to copy temporary then "validate".

For sizing columns : for the moment listview auto-size all column in order to not have to resize each of them and just have to scroll listview , it's more easy to be controlled with a joystick.

But i will attempt to add this function for HyperXMLspin window screen view because that view is most of time controlled with a real mouse.

I will add also the system logo instead the Wheel game name and add the Wheel game name to artworks preview.

I'm currently on holidays but i will did it next week.

Hey Romano. Glad to see ur still at it. Can you test this with hyperspin 1.4 beta that is available to platnium members? Hypersearch doesn't work with it so pietie needs to fix it if that needs to stay working. If he doesn't then ur tool would be the only think usable to search ;-) thank you

Hi ninja2bceen , i cannot test 1.4 , it's only for platinium members. As soon as it will be downloadable for every full members i will check this version to be compatible.

I use the hyperspin startup script that enables x360 controllers so that you can control hyperspin and after that xpadder takes over for different tasks.

 

Potts, how did you activate HS to use X360 controllers?

It's a little long winded but the HS beta has fixed the bug that stopped joysticks working. Until it is fully released this works really well.....

1...Get startup script and configure the ini file so that joysticks are turned on.

2...go into HSHQ and have it launch the startup script exe when HS runs.

So when HS launches you now have native Xbox 360 controller use of all HS functionality.

What I did then...have Xpadder launch with the HS script. Created Xpadder profiles for HS and HL/Hpause. Then when I run a game Xpadder loads that system profile. Then when I quit the game Xpadder loads my hyperspin profile. When I quit HS the HS script unloads everything.

Romano, hey I've been spreading the word of your app with Potts where I can. The common complaint I read is the duplication of all the media wheels and video. Is there any way to program the reference of folders rather than copy into a new one. I must add it would save a considerable amount of space

Hi , because of folder structure different & independant for all of systems Wheel , and because of hyperspin app.

There is currently no way to do  not duplicate artworks & videos : when opening a system Wheel hyperspin app read the system.ini for the correct path.

Actually there is  only 2 solutions : 

1 / create a single folder that contains all artworks & videos with only 1 path defined.--> no copy needed

2 / Keep all systems Wheel with independant artwork & video path --> copy needed

 

The solution will be an update of hyperspin, (maybe 1.4) that allow multipath for Artworks & videos.

Thanks for Looking at this. Pardon my ignorance but you couldn't hard code the paths in the app? Like it wouldn't be editable and if you look up say a gameboy search it would look at main menu/gameboy/wheel? Since this is its own wheel that's it's trouble. If it were a layered app u could do what hypersearch does BUT you wouldn't have the genre wheel like we have. I think I get it.

Something to consider if it's easy, also make a layered hypersearch that sits on top of hyperspin like hypersearch. Pietie doesn't seem to be around anymore and it's not working with the new version of hyperspin.maybe take a look at hypersearch too, pietie found a way to lookup video, wheel art without storing it anywhere. It doesn't support png video or game themes though. Maybe you could utilize something similar or maybe u could see how he did that and utilize it within hyperxml?

The problem come from the main program : hyperspin don't allow multipath for videos and also not specify path for artworks.

Hyperspin have to be updated to solve this problem of Hyperxmlspin copy.

As you said i can try to add the layered hypersearch function to HyperXMLspin, i'll update next version with this function if possible.

Thanks romano. Keep at hyperxml, if you have time and think you can make a replacement for hypersearch, that would be good too so folks can pick their preference. Hypersearch doesn't appear to be actively maintained

There is another solution. I use this for my combined wheels. Use the native win 7 symbolic link function. The command line tool to make the links is called mklink. Google the Internet to find usage instructions.

Forgot to mention why mklink is so good. It will make a link to a file or folder that to every program looks like the original file. The link itself does not take up any extra space on the hard drive.

If you want a nice shell integrated utility for creating links and junctions, try this one, http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html. I have used it for a long time. It is quite flexible and that page really explains the different types of links that can be made, the pros/cons of each, etc.

 

As ArcadeBliss said, creating links and juctions is where its at as far as saving disk space and not being forced to duplicate the media files.

Hi ArcadeBliss & dragon57 , those Tools are the solution to do not duplicate artworks & videos , program have really good features to prevent copy et duplication.

Yes of course, if i create a link creation with Link Shell Extension  of all artworks & videos source folders : all artworks & wheels can be showed without copy , as if i've copyed all of them in a single Wheel folder.

But they cannot be launched because :

Hyperlaunch need to know the name of system , so my solution with hyperxmlspin was to put in each xml game name tag : game name and system name ,and also rename all artworks & vids with this new game name tag.

But in this case hyperspin will not find the new game name artwork or video and need to be copyed with the new name.

 

Use Link Shell Extension --> No copy Needed --> Hyperlaunch doesn't know the System

Without : Copy Needed --> Hyperlaunch Know the system

 

Also if i add a new tag in xml like "<System>NES</System>" on hyperxmlspin.dat (database) i don't have to change game tag name but there is another problem : games with same name but with different system.

The best way to use Link Shell Extension or similar  and solve this problem is hyperspin will use a new tag in NES.xml : <System>NES</System> if present , instead of <game name="NES"/> on main menu.xml , when launching Hyperlaunch.

Maybe in the future.

Hi ninja2bceen , look for main post , there is the changelog from previous release.

i've added something like hypersearch : you just have to press a key or button to show/hide hyperxmlspin, and some others modifications.

With this new forum , it's a bit difficult to paste text, i don't know why but on my phone it's possible and not on my computer.

The new launcher seemed to have renamed everything. I'll bet the hypersearch app also doesn't work. Romano, can you have a version that is compatie with both the original hyperlaunch and rlauncher that was just released?

hi ninja2bceen  , i need 2 files to know modifications please post me your new "settings.ini" and one of your system.ini file (not main menu.ini) located in hyperspin/settings/ folder.

I will try to enable hyperxmlspin working with rocketlauncher.
