How to set up gamepad without xpadder?

I have used xpadder and have had some issues recently. I use a ms Xbox 360 wireless gamepad and h e read there is no need for xpadder any more? Can someone explain how I do this?

You'll still have to map the controls somehow, though, right?

Yes controls will still need to be set up in the emulator.

I'm curious as to how in the world that would work.

I simply cannot imagine a gaming PC without Xpadder.

I use antimicro for my mapping, it allows to map the xbox360 guide button!, I like it over xpadder.

...WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!? I'm going to research this right now lol Makes me wonder if it will do the same thing for my 'turbo' and 'clear' buttons on my Sabrent 12-button.

I use xpadder right now but I find it buggy at times. With the post here I am trying to understand setting up the a dual dos box controls. The issue I see is each game uses different keys.... Pain

Also, Pinnacle Game Profiler is great for a hyperspin navigation profile, and a ton of pc games.

I have used anti-micro and it has worked well.  I have had trouble with the right and left stick buttons - tried mapping them to insert coin and player 1 start.  I read in another message that someone was using Xpadder and Anti-Micro at once for the 360 button support.  I am going to give that a shot in the future.

How do u get around the differences per game as many use different keys each game

Which games are you referring to and on what platform?

Generally your keys are locked in per system so you shouldn't have to reconfigure per game.

But computer based systems eg Amiga or ms dos always use different keys where you would need to reconfigure per game.

Just do this with your favorite games.

This can all be done via rocketlauncher.

I have just purchased the PGP and intend to use it for my Hyperspin setup.  I have PGP installed and it works, but i do not know how to use it with RL/HS and I can't seem to find any tutorials.  Do you have any links or can you provide any assistance?  going to use PS3 controller.

When you buy PGP, you get Padstarr as well, right? Why not use that, it´s the updated version? And you can have a look at my thread as posted above.

Well for me I solved this!! With my wireless gamepad (Wamo) there was a combo I had to press to install it as a gamepad, not it works great in retroarch!  I had to hold home and x to get it to work... it was on youtube somewhere but it now works,  thanks!
