Touchmote, the non gloviepie WiiMote Config Tool for windows 8

Eya, I came along this nifty third party app and after having google, search this site for any traces of it and found non I decided to make a post.

http://touchmote.net/

Touchmote is an app for Windows 8 which you can configure your wiimote as an input device.

It's graphical interface is straightforward and crystal clear letting you drag and drop functions, key strokes and behaviours to various buttons of your wiimote ( and it's peripherals, nunchucks etc.).

It can emulate mouse and touch input, but what I like most about it, is that you can define configurations and have it hook into a Windows Process.

For instance if I configure the wiimote to control the mouse cursor and assign mouse clicks to buttons B and A and define it to use this configuration when I start Nestopia it will behave like your mouse for the duration that you are running that NES emulator.

basically it means that you can define Process specific (read applications/games) configurations within minutes, without any programming skills.

Unfortunately This app is Winows 8 only but I like where it is going.

Thanks for posting this, just a shame it's not windows 7, but I know why they have done so.

I've setup a wiimote as a light gun before, but the set up is a bit clunky, so something like this would be ideal; maybe one day.

It sounds like it's xpadder for a wiimote. If xpadder supported the wiimote, you could do all that with hyperlaunch already.

This program is awesome.

I'm playing Nintendo zapper games and Super Scope 6 games with the wiimote because of this app. This app plus a cheap wii gun shell = instant modern cheap lightgun for htpc users.

Also guys this program can do a lot of sick things. If you get the wii blaster addon that houses the nunchuck as well, you can start playing fps with this puppy. Could be fun.

Thats pretty awesome, Does the wiimote replicate mouse for gun games? I haven't set up any gun games yet.

Also would this be compatible with dolphin or do the drivers take over the bluetooth device?

I played some gungames.

Dolphin is compatible with wiimotes dont think you need touchmote for it, only a supported bluetooth device

Give it a try, it's pretty simple once you've done it a few times and you have the correct hardware.

I just use Touchmote to pair up and then if using Dolphin I close it because it crashes if I don't.

And yes it does replicate a mouse, so you can use it with Mame etc.

Just wanted to chime in here, some emulators/games that use the mouse as lightgun cursors DO NOT like the mouse emulation scripts that touchmote uses.

EG, I wanted to use the wiimote for Sega Master System Lightgun Emulation/Menacer on Kega, and when you point the wiimote at the screen the cursor flashes all over the screen like it's on speed.

Another example is I wanted to try to attempt playing the original Aliens versus Predator via the wiimote with the nunchuk attachment. Same behavior, point the wiimote at the screen and it's all over the place.

I think these programs are using raw input for mice though.

But I can confirm Nestopia has no problem using it as a lightgun, I'm always playing Duckhunt with it:).

for mame I use the wiimote to joystick function in wiimouse... The app I talk before... And configure the games in mame to read light gun input from the virtual joystics... Its not easy to setup... But you can even use 2 wiimotes at the same time. For kega it is impossible even with direct input mouse simulation... And no other emulator supports the genesis light guns :(

Just set up touchmote and configured it to 'emulate' a mouse for MAME.

It works great, mouse moves around MAME game directory BUT when I launch and enter a game it quits responding..:/

Any ideas on what I may be missing?

Are you using a version of mame compiled to support DirectInput?
