this is brilliant but you could also include a fuction where you just press a number or key and it would bring up an alphabet or numbered type game perhaps even support it for machines basically type in sega it would jump into sega or say type in super nintendo the wheel would jump straight down to it and go in ill test this feature for you mate thanks for making it your a true legend.

needs support for keyboard gamepad and even a mouse or arcade stick as well

i just tested it i can press buttons but nothing shows but now that horse found the answer i could use the arrows and enter only also the ablity to type stuff in rather then click the buttons would make it nice and more user freindly and even more simple to use while making it run in the background rather then popping up in front thanks to horse i know you can close it with back space i love the idea of how the search works where it will bring up a list of diffrent systems for the same game thats impressive

on a side note it works great but like i said haveing the ablity to type stuff in would be even more effciant and quicker and maybe even the ablity to add a number or a single letter just to bring up a list of games would be more effciant

Sorry, I see. You can only use arrow keys with enter and can only close window with backspace?

Add mouse, keyboard and esc inputs ? I don't see why not because it's not conflicting with hyperspin whilst that window is up. At least add the option to have those inputs enabled or not.

Maybe add a quicker way to get back up to the top so you can go through the systems. = Home key works in listview

I searched for Dizzy which was really fast and my C64 is 16,000 in the xml and it was pretty much instant.

For detecting the 'current system' you could hook into the LEDBlinky interface, which is triggered whenever you change systems, start a game or whatnot...

Thanks but how does that work exactly? I haven't used it yet....

Well it's already standalone so I suppose I can just make it not depend on Hyperspin.exe being present. It will always require the HS media and DB layout though.

Why don't you use HS? Themes and videos give such a nicer experience...

The original idea was aimed at the 'cab experience' where the full keyboard is not present. But I agree and it should be easy enough to just allow normal input. I was just concerned about the type of key configs people setup in HS and possible conflicts.

Yeah I also thought about that but if your list is too long your not doing very specific searches :) And I was again thinking of the cab experience. I'd like to get away with as few buttons as possible. We could still have a dedicated button, or maybe use the "Back" button...but I was actually thinking of something like "left left" in quick succession.

Yes mate , left left, right right , all good. Using ESC to go back/close window has gotta be more inline with most peoples setups to normally back out?

I think I may still have ledblinky ahk in my folder in ftp, that should be commented to give a good idea on what does what.

Well, if it's left to just using arrows & enter and being specific it would take just under a minute to navigate the characters, I could probably get to the game quicker through the wheels.

Great idea piete! Hopefully be able to try this soon.

I use a different FE most of the time which has videos too. Though I really appreciate the effort people put in (and actually like *some*) I feel that game themes often create a jarring experience while browsing a library.

1 more request when you start typing it will bring up the search bar rather then having to press f3 to always bring it up another request would be having enter work with search as soon as you press it basically once you type in your search and press enter on the keyboard it would press search once rather then click on search to make it work,

As for your first request, how exactly do you see that working without conflicting with the normal operation of HS? So if someone configured P2 to use WASD to navigate, F for Favourites, Q for exit etc...How do you see "just typing" work with that?

I don't think pushing one specific button is a chore...

And as for the second request, use CTRL+ENTER for now

If you do manage to hook the ledblinky command line parameters hyperspin sends, Can you add forwarding support for the parameters to a custom list of programs? I assume it would be some settting file with the full paths to the programs. This way it would be easier to incorporate this program with other programs that like to use the ledblinky command line parameters.

Not related to the original purpose of this program but maybe you can consider adding an info display feature as well that fires off on a specific button like the search feature does.

Thanks,

Also, is there a way to have a key needed to be held down for say 3 secs before the search engine comes up? I am limited to buttons on the keypad.
