All the themes have to be made on the Website... you cant just sub in your own art.

Why?

Cause theyve assigned a code 0a2a1637-bfca-4828-9bc6-08dc3b328f31 <--- Like so...

To each and everything logo, theme, cart art etc. Meaning that you cant even use the same code for the same game. And you cant use the same theme, for other games.

So technically... every piece of art... has to have a unique code, predefined by them... in which you make the art on their site... you pick the game... the code gets assigned to that art... its downloaded and used on the setup.

So basically they control every step of the process. Because the codes are baked into the Hyperspin.exe or theyre encrypted into one of the databases that get stored on the C drive.

The only things that dont have codes... Seem to be the videos. But I cant seem to add my own videos anyways. (I believe you can with mame... but the others im not so sure... Having trouble doing it.. still learning)

I also need a way to turn off syncing... It keeps trying to sync with emumovies at random times.

I was feeling bad for being overly negative the last few days.  I stopped my testing of HS2 because I was uncomfortable installing it alongside my existing HyperSpin 1.5 installation.

I'll jump back in with a fresh start and a new PC tomorrow. I needed the piece of mind of keeping my old installation safely preserved and unaltered.

Your assessment sounds bleak but it's still in beta.

Hopefully we are only handcuffed during this testing phase.

Theme.json has an entityID... this is used by hyperspin to identify which game the theme is for.

Who can honest say that even the visual effects are better than Hyperspin 1.5 ?

I thought I would be blown away by the difference, but even that is Meh ....

So far literally EVERYTHING about it doesn't work for me ..

Media continually defaults to C:\ even though I have set it up on D:\ (about 20 times)

Themes won't download, it keeps asking me to update HyperHQ which in turn does not exit correctly (meaning i need to exit via task manager EVERY time)

On top of not being able to use your own media, half the games i install have missing media from EmuMovies (which I have but can't use) it really has a loooooong was to go to get to even the level of it's predecessor.

Did you just drag your previous RocketLauncher setup into your new Hyperspin folder, because no matter how many times I try this it won't work.

I have used exactly the same folder name for my new setup as RL used before BTW.

I have it setup exactly like this and it keeps giving me errors.

I have used the exact same install as for HS1. What error are you getting? Check the RocketLauncher.log, you should see something like this:

I think you are not sending the file name, you are sending the game name.

John, I'm afraid there will be no coming back to normal.

We have a new normal now.

But you are raising a very good question. Are we still allowed to post stuff in the forums for the "old" Hyperspin ?

If yes, for how long ? Do we need to have a special section for us, ungrateful people who wants to keep their old meticulously crafted Hyperspin setup instead of starting over with the new one ?

And by the way, how should we call the old Hyperspin now ? The legacy Hyperspin or maybe the Stupid Hyperspin ?

Looks at your command again, you are missing the "" around the %rom.filename%

I started testing HS2 again and was about to submit a bug but I'm seriously concerned that I'm aiding in the destruction of legacy HyperSpin.

It would be more assuring if this new application was given its own website.  The beta release isn't concurrent with the original HyperSpin, it's surplanted it and shutdown the communities ability to continue uploading and accessing legacy content.

Doh !!!!!!

That was it.

When I asked previously someone sent me these same commands but they didn't use the "" aound the %rom.filename% so I kept using that.

Why would you think that's a good idea ?

You have focused everything around stopping people selling the drives and forgetting about the users.

We have spend over a decade compiling all this media, enhancing it, re-sizing it getting it to be the best it can be only to see it's all now useless.

If EmuMovies had EVERY logo and EVERY video for EVERY game then fair enough, but they don't.

Even the first system i added ATARI 2600, there was missing media everywhere (that i already have) but can't add to this setup.

I think you are going to find this is all going to fail very quickly unless you have a major rethink.

Also, can't use a controller to exit Hyperspin (you need to use a keyboard) ?

Also EmuMovies videos download to C:\Hyperspin by default even though my setup is on an external drive ?

When you then copy them back to the external drive they don't show up in Hyperspin ???

There are a million other things that i don't like but this is for starters.

So disappointed after all the excitement of hearing Hyperspin 2 was coming (thinking it was going to be a superior version of what i had currently)

Sadly, this is just like Launchbox was 5 years ago (and that's not a compliment) 😢

 

yea they even tried to take down videos of sections i made 100% myself!! still not happy with them

I strongly agree here. The way this new platform is designed is going to scorch the earth, and i don't think that's a good thing in this case.

Reading on what is going on here.

It would have been better, for the Dev's to release the Source Code, to original HS and let the members Develop it, into something that they wanted.......

All the HS1 forums and DLs are still alive and over the next couple of weeks the forum will slowly change.

The forum servers have just had massive updates and decisions were made to stop the forum from going offline.

Give it till then end of the week before you worry.

One of the Admins will clear these things up I’m sure

All the main people are snowed under with updates, additions and HS2 releases. There’s only so many hours in the day
