Andyman Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Don't they know I lack the time to floss out my HyperSpin setup properly? They gotta go and dangle THIS in front of me. ... I just bought the big dog (the one on the right). Couldn't resist. Merry Christmas to me!

dark13 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 OMFG "Alpha chassis with NVIDIA® GeForce® GPU 2GB GDDR5" they don't even say which model is used, there's no SSD and they expect you to milk out $899 -.- Anyway design is terrific as usual Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
THK Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I have an Alienware M11X R2 (dell), it was nice as long as it worked, but yes, too much issues. I bought it because it was the only compact power solution at the time as I'm done with full laptops and tablets weren't a viable option yet. Had the motherboard & hdd replaced, it's a vacuum cleaner most times I start it as the fan has a mind of it's own, no matter the replacement parts, bios flashes, HWINFO, etc. And the hinges are now completely broken (design flaw) to the point I don't use that piece of shit anymore. Was a nice compact powerful laptop when it was working fine. Unfortunately, during that period I didn't need it for my studies anymore, used my desktop and a friend of mine use it when his laptop died. So my personal experience is, stay away from that overpriced crap. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Trnzaddict Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Meh...the console is the best looking htpc case I've seen. The specs and the price they want for it, NO. That i7 is a t variant, and like Dark said, they do not even tell you what kind of video card is in there. I am......Machine
marxkemp Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I agree with the opinions above. But i would still like other solutions or opinions from others to achieve a low profile htpc with wii dolphin capabilities. HazzardActual Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Was this before or after dell took it over? it was before. another stupid thing they did; I had to sent it out to get the motherboard replaced(laptop). they sent it back in a big ass box that said ALIENWARE GAMING PC. it got stolen from the fed ex facility and they sent me another computer that ended up having more problems than the first go around. I ended up just giving it to my little brother.
dark13 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 ... and suddenly the thread changed from "how cool is alienware" to "alienware sucks" :D Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin

I had an X51 before this, and it was outstanding. But thanks for the warning.
rdhanded2 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I have had an Aurora for a couple years and had no issues. I had an Alienware before that (pre-Dell)and it had motherboard issues but the fixed it under warranty. My Tekken 3 pedestal conversionBasement Bar / Arcade
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 If you built a PC for the price you would buy one of these you would have twice the PC. I just cant see how they can charge soo much for a label Simply Austin's YouTube
Andyman Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 I'd have one twice the physical size, definitely.
