sjlewis78
For those like me who struggled to find an inexpensive solution to light gun games on an LCD screen, I would recommend getting the Mayflash Dolphin Bar. http://www.amazon.com/TOTALCONSOLE-W010-Wireless-Sensor-DolphinBar/dp/B00HZWEB74 Its 18 bucks, plug and play, and really easy to switch between mouse and wii mode. Currently adding every game I can that supports a mouse as a light gun emulation. Nestopedia and MAME seem to work great so far. Going to look into PS1 and PS2 next. I originally purchased this just for Wii games, but noticed the mouse mode stuck it in one of those cheap gun holders and loving it. After banging my head against the wall with BlueSolei this was well worth the price. Figured Id share the positive results.
gigapig
I recently received one and it is very good but has a few issues. if you can shed any light on any issue here, if you've come across them; that would be appreciated.
damageinc86
I'd love to see a video review! This sounds like a real great solution for light-gun arcade games!

I have seen zero issues with conflicts with other controls. I have an X-Arcade TankStick and a boat load of USB adapters to use original controllers. I am only using that MayFlash bar for Wii and set it in MAME to be the lightgun by switching the wii controller to mouse mode. Nothing peculiar that I have come across with any of my controls at all. atrain9
Anyway to get the cursor to be lined up for better aiming accuracy when using sights from a light gun peripheral ?

andwan0
I too vouch for DolphinBar. I didn't realise about MODE1 (mouse mode)... it just works seamless and easy to setup. No need for Toshiba Bluetooth stack. No need for GlovePIE. No need for PPJoy/vJoy. MODE3 is also good as a general joystick controller too. marxkemp
But...is it as good as an aimtrak lightgun, because its a lot cheaper if you have a wii mote..?
HazzardActual
aimtraks are over rated as hell. I wish i knew about the mayflash before i spent money on 2 guns
AxelTerizaki
What's wrong with Aimtraks? I don't have one, but I could be interested. Having a gun in hand feels better than a wiimote in my humble opinion. I have a general question thoguh about gun games : how does it work with two guns (for two player games) if it emulates a mouse? I mean, you can't have two mouse pointers under Windows, right? Or am I missing something?
marxkemp
I believe you can with mame direct input
AxelTerizaki
What about latency? A friend of mine said there was some input lag when moving the gun/wiimote? Is that so horrible?
showstopper
A bit off-topic but has anyone managed to pair a fake wii-remote with their bluetooth dongle, in windows 8.1?
robbi1k
I just got a DolphinBar and I have synched my Wii Remote and it works great as a mouse on my PC. But it does not seem to work in Mame. I set Mame to use mouse and I can control with my normal mouse, but not the Wii Remote. I have tried all sorts of modes and settings. I am using the latest version of mameuifx64. I read somewhere that only old versions of Mame work. Any ideas?
robbi1k
OK - Weird. Just tried a couple of other settings and it is working now. Please ignore. It seems to be setting as player 2 thought. I bit more messing and hopefully I can sort it out. Sorry!!!
gigapig
The Dolphin bar needs to be in mode 2 and you should then be able to move the mouse pointer with the Wiimote. Couple of things on the Mame side. Fire up mameuifx and go to the default options. Try checking the box for "Multiple Mice". If that doesn't work try the Direct Input version of Mameuifx. robbi1k
Got it working great and lost an hour playing Operation Wolf and Point Blank. Just done some more reading. Is there anyway to have two wii controls as lightguns in Mame for multi-player games. I can see you can enable multiple mice in mame, but the DolphinBar seems to only support 1 Wii Remote as a Mouse. Anyone tried using 2 dolphin bars at the top and bottom. I would love to get an Aimtrak gun, but cannot import into Australia at the moment as they are classed as replica guns. Would just love to get 2 player working.

Even with direct input and multi mice checked, MAME will still only recognize one mouse because they are emulated mice and not real with Dolphin Bar. In order for MAME to recognize 2 separate mice, they need to be real, like the Aimtraks. This is why people like me and others vouch for them...they are still the best for giving the real experience for 2 players.
potts43
This is really interesting as I've got all options. Bought 2 aimtrak kits but never got round to fitting them yet and also got the mayflash. So would I be right in that if I want 2 player guns in mame I need the raw input version not direct input version ? AND if I use Dolphin emulator I can use 2 Wii motes? Can you use the mayflash sensor bar with the aimtrak rather than having to use 2 sensor bars?

You said you have 2 Aimtraks already? Install them and be done with the issue. I love them, plus you will be able to have dual lightguns in Model 2 as well using Casto's Troubleshooter 2 app and from what I hear the new Demul is very near release and I'm sure with this release there is a good chance they have added raw input support for mice so 2 player gun games can work. I have the Dolphinbar....you can have 4 wiimotes synced at once and use them in Dolphin. Someone mentioned stacking 2 dolphinbars on top of each other as far as lightguns go....to me this is starting to get into the "convoluted zone" to save money. I'm pretty sure MAME will still pick up each mouse even with 2 different Dolphinbars as the same one. Dolphinbar is STILL emulating the said mice and they aren't real. You can't fool MAME that way. Trnzaddict
Just wondered if you could use the one light bar for aimtrak and dolphin. I think I read a post somewhere on here where they experimented with using the Aimtrak lightbar with dophin remotes and it worked, but not perfect. Considering all's they do if provide incandescent light to both devices I don't see why not, try it!
gigapig
The Wiimote as a light gun is not the best experience. They work OK on the actual console but on the D Bar the sight tends to skitter about a bit. It's a cheap alternative though.

robbi1k
I have found the dolphinbar and wii remote quite good for 1 player. If you change sensitivity in the game there is hardly any skitter. Very cheap option. Still want to get an aimtrak. Just no way of importing them to Australia at the moment. We ban real guns and plastic ones:(
