thanks for the update.

any chance of adding a

Add games from XML(list) option to the XML editor portion of this program.

A remove games from XML(list) would also be helpful.

I'm currently using Don's tools but it adds an <exe>XML Name<exe> line to each game in the combined XML.

when the XML is merged, I have to fix the XML by opening this program and saving the XML to remove the <exe> line from the merged XML.

in rocketlaunch guide folder how do I get it to delete folders I don't need to match my roms thanks.

Hello, here's the way to do it :

- go to "cleanup" tab

- in "selected system", choose a system to verify

- click on "Perform Check"

- the list under will fill-in with files/folders which don't match your xml entries

Then, look for the ones which contains your RocketLauncher/Guides path and, "Check Selected" them, so icon on the left on the list is checked

- to delete them : click "move/delete" (depends on which option you selected above) them using the button located on the right side of "Uncheck ALL"

- to reassign folders/files regarding your rom entries : click on the matching rom in the list located bottom right, and click "rename to match selected ROM". Warning, you have to do this for each entry.

Other options should be clear enough that I won't need to explain them all ...

Inquisitom,

I cannot start this SW. On the fist time I run it, it asks for a folder, I give the directions of HS but if gives me this error.

http://pastebin.com/Vfv4m1En

Setting the Debug I got only this log:

2015-08-16;03:13;Info;SaveHyperT00lsParameters;Config saved ...
2015-08-16;03:13;Info;LoadSystems;Func LoadSystems : reloading Systems in Treeview

I am using Win10 x64 and HS 1.4 015

Here is my current Main Menu.xml

http://pastebin.com/si3tp3Uz

Any ideas of what is happening?

@32assassin : if you go to "Roms XML", you can either select the entries to delete and click "Delete XML entry", or even press the "delete" button ^^ - I'm wondering how you didn't find this by yourself :)

@10cold :

You have a double entry for <game name="Philips VG 5000" />.

Remove it, and it will (should) go flawlessly :)

(and yes, I'll add a control to prevent this ...)

I saw that, and I used it when I genereated an XML from a dat file.

The main problem is with MAME ; Their are more than 5000 games I like to delete, I'm not going to select each one to remove it.

I can auto generate an XML or a list of the games I like to delete.

if their is an option to delete games from an XML or list, it will pretty much automate the full process.

even an option to delete all clones would be helpful.

even an option to delete all clones would be helpful.

If your XML clones are specified in your XML :

- in Roms XML, click on "cloneOf" column in order to sort by this column

- identify the first clone entry and click on it (select it)

- identify the last clone entry and clik on it while keeping shift key pressed. This will select all clones ...

- delete them

I'll try to look into the approach of deleting xml entries from file, but this is (to my mind), the contrary approach. You should do it reversely. Being able to generate a XML of games you want instead a XML of games you don't want ;)

thanks, its a very simple and effective way to remove clones.

Generating a list of the games I like to keep would solve most of the problems.

Unfortunately most of the software that can do that, will not include any of the additional info (year, manufacture, genre, ect)

I can generate a generic list or XML without the additional info.

then use that list (XML) to remove those games from the official XML; this process will keep the additional info in the XML.

he main benefit of generating a list of the games you don't want is,

When a new version of MAME (XML) is released.

I can use the same list to remove the games I don't want from the XML. any new games added to the XML will not be removed.

@32assassin : I'll give you a nice approach if you mind it, tell me if it would fit your needs.

Keep an XML version of all the games with fully additional info into it, the latest version if possible. (eg: full_mame.xml)

Generate a list with the games you only want, and set it as your Mame database XML - even with missing info.

In HyperT00ls, go to "Roms XML", and load the Mame system (only your selected roms should appear, and with missing info) ... click on "Fill missing entries from other XML" -choose the full Mame XML- and let the job be done.

You'll get a new fresh XML with your selected games, and filled information from the "full_mame.xml".

Looks like this is a very useful program.

Problem is it didn't seem to download with any instructions and I don't see any in-program... Am I just overlooking them somewhere?

Without them everything is a guess and it looks like you could really destroy a setup by doing the wrong thing in here.

Mostly I was hoping it can create/break-out new XML's from MAME based on the manufacturer.

This program appears to have a major bug. And when I say major, I mean ultra-major.

I was using the "CleanUp" feature to delete mame themes for roms I didn't have in my collection. When I went to delete the files using the program, it froze, and completely nuked my entire "Documents" folder.

Thank God I have an external backup that I make weekly - combined with Recuva, I managed to get everything back.

A bug like that is completely unacceptable and ridiculous. I'm pm'ing the dev about this, but I'd recommend that until this is fixed, use this software at your own risk.

Edit: It went further - most of the files in my "Emulators" folder are gone too.

I like the program - more intuitive than Hypermint in my opinion.

However, there's a bug I found. When is saves back the XML file (e.g. when you disable a few games) it sometimes messes up the coding so that it won't subsequently load.

This is the error :2017-04-01;14:23;Error;LoadSystemRoms;Cannot load : C:\Mame\HyperSpin\Databases\Atari 2600\Atari 2600.xml --> ABORDING

It just looks like nothing happens when you click on "check".

The reason is as follows (from the XML file). What should be:

"<cloneof>Immies & Aggies (USA) (Proto)</cloneof>" is coded as "<cloneof>Immies & Aggies (USA) (Proto)</cloneof>" on the XML write-back.

Notice the missing "amp". I don't know much about XML though I take it & is a special character you can't use alone in a string.

This happened twice in the 667 Atari 2600 XML list.

I hope this helps someone find the XML glitch faster than it took me!

I sent Inquisitom a message about this as well, but i experienced a glitch as well when performing a "cleanup" on my "Future Pinball" system. See attached screenshot

Looks like Inquisitom got banned from this site long time ago for a non explained reason ... he was unable to read the private msg sent to him, neither connect to this forums to update the software or whatosever.

He was a platinum member, and was always proud about being part of HyperSpin community - even if participated into "alternate" frontends. But it ended without any reason one day ...

For transparency reasons, he made the sourcecode of HyperT00ls available freely a long time ago in GitHub :

https://github.com/Inquisitom/HyperT00ls

The source code was also shared with the guy who wrote HyperMint before being available on github.

Inquisitom tried to maintain his software up to date, to have it bugless, and regularly upgraded.
