Starting a new thread to hopefully list all of the clones, bootlegs, hacks & prototypes that may be worth un-cloning (starting with MAME 175)

 

Much of this was done previously by scottjen26. I went through and updated it, re-formatted it, added a bunch of games, removed others that no longer apply, added the Manufacturers so it's easier to make changes for people with Manufacturer wheels, made a database and added additional 2 Player game info.

These 2 Neo-Geo games are already Parent roms, so no need to un-clone them. However they don't show in the normal Neo-Geo MVS database. They are both AES to MVS conversion and if you want them in a dedicated Neo-Geo wheel you'll need to add them manually.

Okay so is this the parents and the worthwhile clones on one XML?

 

There are no parents in that XML. Just un-cloned clones directly from the list in the 1st post. For some reason some people wanted a DB.

That's what the list is for. You do it the normal way. Go through the list and manually un-clone them directly in your database.

Just change "<cloneof>GAME</cloneof>" line to "<cloneof />", just like it looks in the database above.

I thought that they mase Xmen 2 Player the parent in the later MAME releases. There are a bunch of other 2-4 player games I'll try to check today and add them if needed.

I suppose. Although it seems like you could just merge them into your XML, or manually update them whenever you update MAME (didn't take me to long.

 

This morning I un-cloned all the new games I added to the list, then went through all the 3-4 player games and set them all to 2 Player mode. All done, now when I update MAME next I'll just need to copy/paste the CFG's for those games... the work is already done. Since I un-cloned all those games I also went through and made sure they all had their themes/vids/wheels renamed and working too.

 

I'm also removing World Beach Volley from the service menu list as I couldn't find a matching game (went through all the Volleyball games... didn't see it.)

Great list, I like to add the fast versions of jr pacman and puckman as well as jungle boy because its got a diffrnent title and wheel art. Also afterburner is a clone that needs to be added.

Great list, I like to add the fast versions of jr pacman and puckman as well as jungle boy because its got a diffrnent title and wheel art. Also afterburner is a clone that needs to be added.

Ha! No. I have no plans to do that, it's been enough work as it is. People can copy & rename their own art for the clones they want.

Yeah i have seen a few posts from Metalzoic that state he takes Phulsofs XMl adjusts it fixes a couple of things and gets it down to around 7000.

 

One of those post lead me to this thread. I trust his skills and would prefer to use his XML if its availiable
