The End of the Line

Greeting friends and family,

After three years of continuous work on the HyperSpin project, programming the website, HyperList, maintaining the server, installing & programming server features and the creation of a massive new downloads sections script to help artwork managers I sadly must leave the community. While it has been my pleasure to serve the community over these years, and help mold and bring new ideas to life, recent events with my daughter and her condition have left me with very little time (Circo knows what I am speaking about, and I will just leave it at that.) The other day I really needed a pick me up so I thought that I would visit the community which has helped me through so many hard times, and what do I see but several post chastising senior members of this website as well as other members whom are valued assets to the community. I was asked by not one, not two, not three, but EIGHT people to please clean up a thread at which time I did what any administrator would do, I removed the posts from said thread, then was accused of censoring post to my own likeness and opinion factor. Long story short, I am not going to name names here, and I have removed all traces of said thread as not to further perpetuate nor implicate any specific individual. However, inasmuch this event was the catalyst for my decision as at this point in my life I simply don't have time for the dramatics.

When I first joined this forum and at which time BadBoyBill was very active on this forum you may all remember that he ran a very tight ship and did not condone lude or insulting behavior of any kind, and why should he, it is his website and his hard work that made this all possible. Many of you may not know but Bill and I became close friends over those years, along with Circo; and I do use the word friends as if not for Circo and Bill I would have abandoned this ship long ago, and they are the type of people that I can call on the telephone with any concern, question or comment and get an honest and blunt answer. Jhabers, later became to me as a brother, a mentor an all around person that I could look up to in my time of need. Baddeolv kind of became like the cool brother while pestering me (not really) to remote in with him like every single day that I could talk straight to, that when stuff got tuff we would always have each others back. Not too mention the dozens of other users I have come to know and in a sense love over the past three years. Then there is Brucelee00 who is more than a friend, for all intents and purposes he did become my little brother, and my friendship with him is I am proud to say closer than that of family; we are brother in arms.

While this is my last post that I will ever make here on this website, I don't think that there is enough time for me to thank everybody whom has touched my life in this community. But I will say to each and everyone of you thank you so much for what you have done, and what you will continue to do not only for this community but for each other. I still have one final gift to give my brothers Bill and Circo, and it is very near completion and when it is released the community will finally I hope realize the power that friendship has to offer, and perhaps they will learn something regarding kinship and kindness. So I will finish the program for Bill and Circo only because they are so very close to me.

As for HyperSync, I will always support that application, but will no longer be answering post here on this forum regarding the application as HyperSync is in the process of moving to a new home and a new server and will have its own forum very shortly as HyperSync is about to reach a new apex of perfection in which users from the world over will be able to do things in which were never even thought possible.

As for HyperList 2.0, I am going to have to drop the project for the time being as a result of this; but if there are any professional application designers/developers well versed in MySQL/C++/ASP.NET please contact me for more information on picking up the project, though I must warn you HyperList 2.0 is intensely immerse and complex (see below for specifications.)

• Server side: 4,384 lines of code thus far (ASP.NET C#)
  
• Server side: 18 Dynamic Link Library References
  
• Server side: 2 MySQL databases
  
• Client side: 14,821 lines of code thus far (C++)
  
• Client side: Built with LINUX header libraries as well as MAC
  

Keep in mind I have been working on HyperList for about 1.5 years and it is very complex and only very experienced programmers could hope to pick the project up (10 years or more of software development, preferably those with a computer science degree.)

So, to all of you my friends, the ones whom have always upheld yourself with a sense of dignity and respect to others I shall miss you and wish you all my fondness as well as my admiration. As for what's next for old RAIN at this point I am not sure as I am really going strong with my INDIE gaming company and the several gaming websites I am opening very shortly. I may take some time to get to know my children a little better, I have been given a second chance with my daughter, a chance that I do not want to loose nor miss. I really do wish Bill the best here, and hope that someday that he restores this website to its once former glory and that he can get control over it, as it's declination has been happening for quite sometime. Please new users don't be afraid to ask your questions, don't hesitate to say hello as there is still a great sense of pride in many of the users here.

Over the three years I have kept exact logs of everything I have done for this website and it is as follows:

• 4,992 hours of remote desktop (averaging 32 hours per week.)
  
• A total of 1.3 million lines of code (spanning 16 applications) client applications.
  
• A total of 742 thousand lines of code (spanning 28 web services and appliances) server applications.
  
• Increased overall server performance 84% vs. 2010 saving Bill and Circo a lot of hard earned money.
  
• Received over 92 Christmas cards, and replied to each one.
  
• Made 7 lifelong friends
  
• Introduced my daughters and my son to something that I have loved since I was a boy
  

Keep in mind that I have enjoyed every minute of it, so my friends, it is with a heavy heart and a sense of accomplishment that I bid you all a final farewell. I shall miss you all, and I wish you all the best in your future ventures and explorations. Hey, it wouldn't be RAIN if I didn't include this:

Very easily. This is a hobby that's based on the goodwill and time of others. We all have challenges in 'real life', nothing gives anyone an excuse to behave hypocritically.

Calling someone a dick by being an even bigger dick -is- hypocritical. If you had a problem you could have addressed it in a manner that showed respect for another human being instead of trying to publicly slander them. If you felt unable to contain your venom you could have done so in a PM instead of by trying to turn a thoughtful and decent thread into a flaming shitstorm. Crap like that -deserves- harsh moderation.

Man, there is a lot of bashing going on here. I do feel matted handled himself poorly in this thread, but I feel Rain was out of line and handled the last thread poorly. Unfortunately, that side has been censored and deleted, which was the issue people took up with Rain in the first place. The entire mood of this forum has drastically changed in the last year which is why I seldom post anymore. It is just not the same place it was, and not much fun anymore for me.
