The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

i have a request regarding the layer structuring of themes in hyperspin. at the moment the layering is not too dynamic and customisable. you get a layer structure that is basically like this (from bottom to top layer): Background - Wheel - Artwork1 - Video(<-this can be put behind the wheel) - Artwork2 - Artwork3 - Artwork4.

I'd especially like to be able to position the wheel layer on top of the artwork layers, so that the wheel is displayed in front of the artwork. generally speaking i wish for more flexibility when it comes to layering.

No they are in mp4 format. HS will only play the audio when using them. There has been discussion about this. Some people have successfylly converted the videos to play in HS. These videos are also available on some torrent sites.

High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265, is a video compression standard, one of several potential successors to the widely used AVC (H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10)

i have been looking into this at the moment for hd rips of movies . one of the series i got was 90 gig in x264 format and now 23 gig in x265 format. looking at them both and cant tell the difference . so if converted right they look great. but some of the other rips i had was blurry so would need to experiment. also i am not to sure how much of a strain on your pc to watch these, and maybe some one with a less powerful computer might not be able to run them. this is just a thought, keep up the good work guys

I'm afraid this is too little too late, at least for me. I've switched to Launchbox. Hyperspin would have to be nothing short of exceptional for me to even consider it again at this point.

So this is goodbye Styphelus? :(  :bye:

Goodbye? Why? No. Their forums are terrible!

Plus they don't have any artwork or anything cool going on over there. What they do have is a very very nice front end that keeps on growing and improving.

Does anyone even know what's going on with Hyperspin right now? All we've been told is that it's in development. That's it! Jason from Launchbox has live development sessions and constantly tells us what he's working on, asks his users what they would like to see and so on. Everything else is handled by RocketLauncher. Launchbox still doesn't have a theme editor but that's coming soon hopefully.

Anyway, I'll still be around. Still doing work on box covers (although this week I didn't have much free time). Just completed a few things that I should be uploading soon.

Let's be honest, we're all here because of the artwork, not because of the software itself.

Speaking of art work, I expect clean dos covers pronto then! ;)

Haven't worked on DOS cover for a bit. I was setting up Arcade PC/Taito/Emu-Board on Launchbox and decided to create a complete flyer collection (for cover art) and wheel set since a lot of those games didn't have anything available. It's all done. I'll be uploading everything as soon as I can.

I'll get back to DOS this weekend.

Personally I am here for the software just as much as the artwork. I have messed around with Launchbox/Big Box, and although I love Jason's enthusiasm and love watching his live streams, I still don't care much for the software itself. I find the look and feel of hyperspin to be far superior to Lunchbox/Big Box.

I have loved hyperspin ever since I first saw it. Glad to here you are going to be sticking around. I would really like to see the day we have good quality artwork for every system.

The ability to set an mp3/mp3 list in HyperHQ and play while searching through system and game menus would be awesome. Stop when launching a game, start back up when back to the menu. Would love to have some tron/daft punk and journey playing softly in the background while looking for a game to play.

Thanks for keeping the master list updated on the first page ninja2bceen. The info is being relayed and good things are happening :)

Any idea when to expect something? Or is this one of those "it's done when it's done things" that can take forever.

Hasn't it been "forever" already? Or at least that's how it feels :) Either way, any development is a good thing and I certainly hope we can see these "good things" sometime in the near future

While I love seeing Hyperspin development continue, I would like even more if we could get all the stability issues ironed out with 1.4. The 1.4.16 seems to be improved on my Windows 7 machine, but the memory leak like problem persists on my Windows 10 machine running identical software. Plus on Windows 7 still locks up on exciting emulators sometimes.
