Metalzoic Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Been a long wait. I ordered the damn thing 3 years and 8 months ago and it's a year and 8 months overdue. Hopefully it arrives in on piece. And hopefully we can wrangle this 400lb beast into the house. If you're not familiar here is a quick vid, although mine is the special Smaug Edition version... cooler and more expensive. Ha! Not the best vid, but since mine was coming today I was watching unboxing vids
jcrowley30 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 That is awesome! If I bought that I would have to live in the box because my wife would throw me out.
ninja2bceen Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Where did you buy it? I've been starting to look at pinballs. They are pretty expensive. Did you pay in payments or something? 4 years? Metalzoic Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 They announced it 4 years ago and I pre-paid for it 3 days after it was announced. Took them that long to design, build and manufacturer it. I ordered it directly from the manufacturer. The Smaug Edition I have runs $9000 and is very limited, but there are some at distributors if you look and they haven't raised the price. They also have a standard version for 8k and an LE for $8500 both easier to find. Sent from my SM-G935V
ninja2bceen Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Nice. Wow so did you do payment plans or just drop that amount? Pinball is expensive but I want one! Metalzoic Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 I paid it in 4 payments since originally it was only supposed to take 2 years for them to finish it.
Metalzoic Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 Just got Smaug Multiball, then stacked on Beast Frenzy multiball, then stacked on Feast Frenzy multiball for Triple Multiball Madness! Believe me this video does not even remotely convey how bright, flashy and intense it is when you're playing it in person. Shortly after this my Wife just missed the shot to start Into The Fire mode for her first time which is even more bat**** crazy.
gigapig Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Looks great Bro, can I pay to come around and have a go?
dougan78 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Oh its one of those ones with the giant lcd. Very nice. I saw it at a retro gaming thing the line was too long if a wait for me to play it. Congrats!

Congrats!Yeah. JJP is the new pinball company on the block. This is their 2nd pin. The first was Wizard of Oz. Their build quality and presentation are definitely a step above what people think when they hear "pinball". Sent from my SM-G935V
iNTiGOD Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 This looks amazing. Congratulations.... take good care of her and I hope she brings you many years of entertainment. I can only dream of having a pinball one day MAME High Score Tutorial For HyperSpin

Their build quality and presentation are definitely a step above what people think when they hear "pinball". Sent from my SM-G935V I saw the wizard of oz one too. Still if I had a spare 8k I would get me a theatre of magic. I can play that forever! congrats again. I know what it's like to finally get something you have neen wanting/waiting for, for a very long time.

I know what it's like to finally get something you have neen wanting/waiting for, for a very long time. Yeah. Theater of Magic is great. So is Tales of the Arabian Nights and Circus Voltaire (my fave) all designed by John Popaduke(sp?). To bad he screwed so many people over on his latest table Magic Girl. An 11k table and he went bankrupt on it so everyone that had pre-paid got effed over. I'm glad I didn't go for that one.
Metalzoic Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 Just had my best game yet and finally beat the default Grandchampion score the machine came with! Yeehaaww!
Metalzoic Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 OK, had it a week now. It's awesome. And I've ordered and added several mods to it. 1. First I added volume up/down controls to the coin slot so it can be adjusted on the fly (without needing to open the coin door) no pic. Just a nice $60 mod pinnovators makes. 2. I added Orcrist onto the lower outlane plastic right betwen Thorin and Legolas since they're the 2 that use it in the movie. It's about 7 inches long and metal. 3 & 4. I also added Gandolfs staff and Bilbos Sting to the right outlane and shooter lane. About the same size as Orcrist. 5 & 6. I added replica Dwarf treasure coins like the ones in the movie and used them to cover some of the ugly, bare metal. These coins are also use on the in-game display graphics, so I put the actual coins on the playfield showing the other "tails" side of the coins you wouldn't otherwise see. I also added a replica of the one ring, gold with the words etched into it (although you can't really see them in the pic). 2 coins on the metal bracket holding the book LCD. And below you can see The One Ring mounted on the clear plastic opening to the pop-bumpers. 1 coin on the left side VUK which hides an ugly metal mechanism underneath the green column/architecture behind it. 6. 2 coins mounted above the right outer loop which hides the bare metal spinner bracket. And behind that I added a replica of Kili's runestone from the movie. It sits above the right outer Kili loop and helps hide another ugly metal bracket. 7. I also added a sculpted Dwarf key and mounted it bnetween the ramps above the captive ball which is actually the Dwarf Key shot in the game... perfect and looks awesome there! And here's an overview if you can even spot the mods. All in all I'm very happy so far

gigapig Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Two things in life I wish I could do, play the piano and play pinball for more than 90 seconds. You may say "Giga, it's never too late to learn", but my molasses brain says I'll have chopsticks down in 10 years.

TITCHGAMER Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 That is awesome! I wish I had a game room! Ime trying to lay my hands on a pinball machine atm but the Ms aint so keen LOL
Styphelus Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 So what happens when you get tired of that pinball machine?
Metalzoic Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 So what happens when you get tired of that pinball machine? Sell it for another I suppose. Probably take a long time though. The guess is that it will end up with the deepest ruleset in pinball by the time it's done. It should be getting a new code update today or tomorrow that adds more to it.It's had about 5 updates since they started shipping 4 months ago and the new one will take it to version 1.3 Their first table is still getting updates and it's been out 4+ years and is at version 4+ something so I imagine this one has a few years of updates to keep it fresh. Not to mention modes & levels I'll probably never be able to make it to more than once (if that, Ha!)
