The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Now for something completely different

Looking at the date of me officially joining the ranks of the HyperSpin forums, thus beginning my real passions of writing and news media

28 Feburary 2009 I joined the site.

Jesus, 8 years, being part of a community which still to this day continues to amaze me. With theme and artwork being created for more than just Hyperspin. Hyperspin Community as done more for the emulation scene in terms of little things rather that the actual app. No disrespect for BadBoyBill here because he created this scene and set the standard for the future of frontends.

While Hyperspin is going through a lull in terms of development. Side projects and themes and artwork are the real reason with Hyperspin success. Too many side project have evolved into full blown projects or simple app designed to just simply make things work within Hyperspin. The team behind apps like RocketLauncher (formerly Hyperlaunch) made something clunky (the early version of hyperlaunch) to a multiuse system. HyperSync is another success story but it has a colored history and is also marred with a little controversy. Currently its been evolved as well speak by Jhabers and Frostbyte. Evolution is where we are going here, as everything does. Something to make things better, sometimes to forget the mistakes we, as a community has made.

Giving honest opinions has always been my strong suit and it has helped both me and the community. While I do check the facebook page more often seeing as between me and Circo run it. I've been taking more of a back seat. But don't think I have forgotten my post. Don't worry I plan on writing again sooner or later, don't sell me short yet because I remember how many people actually read my old blog before I I started my site before late last year I had to retire it. Emumovies I have somewhat found a home (major thanks to Circo) but in reality I'm finding it hard to get motivated as I once was. maybe I'm getting too old for this game and don't have same level of enthusiasm as I once did. Work is not helping much, with me working something like 13 hours a day some days.

During my time at Hyperspin. I have met many people, some of who i call true friends. I've tried to be helpful and honest with them. If this sounds like a leaving letter then you are actually wrong because more than anything it a need to recharge and rethink everything going on upstairs in my very distracted head.

its 2am here in the UK so I need some sleep I close on this. how long have you been here and what is your achievements because it really time I would like to thank you guys for inspiring me to write in the first place

Time really passes much faster when we are adults, I barely remember how was my life since I'm 18, jobs, college, etc. My time here doing stuff for retro games is a way to recover sweet childhood/teenage memories, unfortunately there isn't much else I can recover, not everything can be digitalized, a pity. I also discover a lot of stuff I'd like to know when I was a kid, if I could see me now when I was 10, I'd say one of my dreams became true, I have all video games!

Maybe what I'm saying here is a little off, but I'd like to share some thoughts.

I bet those 8 years passed so fast you can't even believe it. Our time is passing so faster, is time flowing faster or are we much more entertained? Everyone is saying the same thing, even people younger than us!

Our minds work on assumptions. When was the last time you broke with your routine and did something completely new? In an environment that was not your usual? Ever noticed that when your on vacation in foreign city time slows down? Your paying attention to everything. Where am I? Who is that? What street am I at? How do I get to the museum? Where are my kids? Bullet time for your mind. I tend to have taken that as an explanation why time seems to be going by so fast. Routine makes you notice less

Not to mention that when your young, a day was a much bigger chunk of your total life lived than it is now. You're also learning and doing so many more new things, that it feels like the time holds so much instead of the routine we have now as Klopjero mentioned.

Also, spending too much time doing the same thing gets old, so no worries about taking breaks from HS, we need those!

Also you frontal lobe is not fully developed until you are 21 years old, which explains why we are a little crazy when young and don't appreciate time and  life's excesses. Sound familiar Tim? :)

I remain very much under 21, more like 12 and still enjoy being here and acting my age.

Don't you mean 21+12 in my case? Just one more year and I'm fully developed!

Yeah I was thinking that and it looking like I'm going to India for a couple of weeks in July. I need time to think of new strategies and make a idea work. I find at home there are too many distractions. Each time I went to India I come back rejuvenated and refreshed with new ideas to approach something. but for 5 years I have lost the will because my real life has invaded my passions and with a not so understanding wife who doesn't understand the passion I have for this, its difficult. But I'm finding more than just writing to cover my passions. what with youtube and podcast as well (both of which I plan on doing)

This topic is a battery charger. Cannot agree with you guys more.

Year was 2010 and making plans to get independent. I was excited to finally be able to make my own MAME cab. That's when I found out about HS and the beauty in it. The joy of remembering old games (a lot being forgotten in some deep place in my mind) was and still is a delightful experience.

Something that I have always thought, and was able to confirm sometime now (as I started being a more active contributor), is that this community is one of a kind. It is like a group of passionate, creative, smart geeks, who keep creating day after day incredible things, and I believe that is what differentiates this artsy community from others.

Currently resetting my hyperspin setup with all the tools.I am doing this from scratch rather than getting gigapig's already complete setup. I need to know if I can still do it from scratch using the tutorials provided by Avar and Simply Austin.
