Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 Not as deep into systems today as I wanted to be but I diverted my attention back to some global assets. Namely: Converted Genre Backgrounds to 4:3 SD/HD Audited general genre background/wheel assets Added all the intro videos I can find Added all the No Video vides I can find Added 4:3 HD Exit/Favourites screens Added SD/HD nomenclature for all SWFable content Audited/added special artwork. I believe there's more out there than I could find so if you have any not on the list please let me know. Starting at Acorn Atom tomorrow and should hopefully be done backpeddling to global assets until I hit universal themes down the road. 3
adamg Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 To some extent, I have already done something similar to this but this was about 6 months ago. It will be worthwhile for you to continue as you probably have a better eye for what is 'mint'able and what is just ok. I just went for what was available disregarding quality. If you are interested in what I had, I could make that available to you. Like I said though, your process may be better. Also, I think ThatMan84 uploaded all of the pointers in nearly complete set. I do not know about the rest but I think the ones I did would qualify as HD options. Then again, I am sure mine could be improved upon as well. In line with the discussion and perhaps direction, would it be possible to make .psd files for all of the 3d artwork that we create. This would start a standard that could be used any time the xmls are updated. 3

thatman84 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 @Avar FYI android has some trouble with swf images so please if you come across plain png assets dump them in a seperate folder for safe keeping. Mainly MM and default themes but so generic images for box+cart wheels etc have placement issues or scale issues in swf 1 Hyperspin 2.0 Latest Download Hyperspin 2.0 Documentation -------Pre Hyperspin 2.0 Below---------- HS Android Overview & Install HS Android Base Pack Download My Tutorials
Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 @thatman84 I am, don't worry. It's to make the app for everyone so assets are being stored in 4:3 SD/HD, 16:9 HD, with UHD backups for later. @adamg You're welcome to upload it and I can cross-check it against everything else. In a lot of case there is no mint set yet so it's just a matter of finding what exists. 1

EyMannMachHin Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 @thatman84 but that is what @Avar does with this thread ... separating the good from the bad from the maybe. Although ... Avar Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 As I go I'll post some overall direction as to what's needed but I find HS Content Creators in general have a wonderful knack for getting the aesthetic just right!
Avar Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 Finished FTP/personal/DL/internet check for the following Acorn BBC Micro Acorn Electron ALF TV Game American Laser Games Amstrad CPC *Missing tons of roms for Acorn BBC Micro and Amstrad CPC but it doesn't matter atm as most of the assets for these systems don't exist yet. Incomplete systems are much more of a pain than complete ones but I hope to complete 5-10 per day until the job's done. Unsorted submissions are daunting but I suspect the vast majority of those on the FTP will be either repeats or already in my collection. Once primary audit is complete I'll be auditing completed arcade games and the like, which will be easier than it sounds. Longest part will be transferring screenshots to HBL. 4

Is there anything we media creators can do to make auditing easier for you ? For instance we could pull the muck that is currently dumped in the downloads section and place them on a dedicated ftp or cloud storage. 2 | My themes / downloads | Get the MS-DOS Wheel sound pack | Get your MS-DOS game themes here | Get the MS-DOS wheel set here | My YouTube channel | WarcrafT - Lord of the clans |ZeroJay's Ultimate DooM archive
Avar Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 I greatly appreciate the offer but I don't want to redirect the efforts of talented content creators to menial logistics. I gotta catalog the screenshots and everything as I go anyways so I'm not sure how much time it'd save. Best thing people can do is just keep plugging away at whatever projects they're passionate about and watching the thread to see if they know of or have anything I missed. Another thing that'd help, which is totally up to the individual creator, would be if new uploads had mult-complatible zips in em (ie. 4:3 SD, 4:3 HD, 16:9 SD,16:9 HD) but it's not a big deal if they don't. Basically there's four types of users: i) People who HS on a potato need 4x3 SD ii) People who HS on a modern rig but still use 4:3 need 4:3 HD, iii) Modern rig + widescreen = 16:9 HD, iv) Android users = 16:9 SD. Whenever I have time or if something is important as I'm going along I do the conversion myself but it's pretty fast if you already have the assets handy. Again, no pressure for anyone to do that it's just extremely convenient and it lets the entire community enjoy every release to the fullest.

Loving your work and as an onlooker with enough passionate projects on already im bummed i cannot help. Should have been here a few months back lol. My only suggestion is for people to be able to help then logistically they need to have details and be working on the same or not the same files. Ie central spot to dump it then sort it. Like what art dudes do with source. Also to sort it correctly you could do with dropping a fixed naming convention for finished sets 16x9 Main Menu ..... 4x3 SD Wheel set etc. And the database to at least start naming to. Obvs taking time away from your audit to do the framework is not ideal but if someone can see the process they can just go and start which could earn your time back Just my opinion. Ground up. PPP=PPP and all that. That saying does not reflect you as you are working at uber standard and speed. ?????? 1 Hyperspin 2.0 Latest Download Hyperspin 2.0 Documentation -------Pre Hyperspin 2.0 Below---------- HS Android Overview & Install HS Android Base Pack Download My Tutorials

adamg Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Avar, here is a list of what I have in regards to specific systems. I have not sync'd in several months so it could be a little out of date but that is where i got to. If there is anything listed that you need, please let me know. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hy5rRTE32fZPwwczkb1Ozm_7IYC7WJJteBUX13oohhY/edit?usp=sharing If a system is not listed, it is because I do not currently have anything for that system. I have not determined what quality what I have is so that is something too. Anyway, hope it helps. 1
Avar Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 Completed and noted initial pass/assessment of the following systems: ArcadePC Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Atari 8-Bit Atari Classics Additional 16:9 conversions done for Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, and Atari Classics. Additional .txt notes attached for Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Atari Classics. Began assessing wheel plating for clarity/readability and re-plating where necessary (since that's the whole point of plating in the first place). Will re-assess wheel visibility on earlier systems on second pass. Note: Results not yet uploaded as I'm still downloading the Unsorted FTP. Initial pass is now 10% complete. Cheers! 3
