@thatman84 wait so only animated SWFs cause issues? Not smoothed image SWFs? If so, there's nothing I can do to help with that for HS1.4.

@CriticalCid Thank you very much.

No there are other issues static swf's also, there can be a green glow and sometimes the scale doesnt translate. Ocasionally a theme will crash HS on droid.

I have decompiled the swf images in the last then resized them to work nicely with the shield.

Up to you how you want to proceed but shout if you want them testing/converting on android.

This is how far i got when testing themes

Cheers for that. Will add them when I get home tonight. I noticed there was some art on EM I'll have to check over later.

Amendments:

  • "Electronic Handheld Games" has been renamed to "Electronic Games" after seeking council from @MADrigal. This is due to the fact that a number of Electronic Games were tabletops and not handhelds.
  • Sega RingEdge and Sega RingWide added to audit list courtesy of @JoeC3109

Fairchild Channel F added to OP and uploading to HyperAI FTP.  This is the first system filed under F and F my life this took a while XD Had to find the optimal sizes for all the awesome artwork this baby has for HS1.4's themes. This system is basically ready for UHD. Point is just a teensie bit fuzzy and could use an upgrade to match the style of the default/neonrage themes.

@fr0stbyt3 this system's wheels also make me see value in us keeping certain deprecated artwork around as an "Archived" version accessible via advanced settings. Basically stuff that looks good, has its own unique feel, and maybe a lil history with HS that'll resonate with some users but that for QC reasons shouldn't be immediately accessible to users w/o having to take an additional step to see them.

I have added Super NES CD-ROM System to the system/audit list. That seems to be the official name used by Wikipedia for the unreleased device with aliases including SNES CD, Super Disc, and Nintendo PlayStation. @Kondorito @ci2own and anyone else interested, what are your thoughts on the name I went with?

I have done the Bezel with "Super Nintendo Entertainment System CD". @KlopjerO sent me the logo.

Ok I'll go with that.

As the Official for SNES is "Super Nintendo Entertainment System", i would use "Super Nintendo Entertainment System CD" for this new one. Just to follow the name convention. this is just my opinion.

Aye the only reason I deviated was cuz of Wikipedia since it's an unreleased proto though in general I hate using the shortform like that.

Tricky naming.

Just to be sure, this is not the same one as the SNES-CD that both Nintendo and Sony made, right? I see that the system theme shows the Sony-Nintendo console, but in reality this is just an audio hack for the Snes, so I do not know.

In the Nintendo official Wiki page is called SNES CD-ROM, but then again, it is refering to the joined effort between Nintendo and Sony.

@KondoritoFrom the video I feel like they're all one and the same, based on the titles included.

Ok, then the official naming is "Super NES CD-ROM System", with two variations "SNES-CD" or "Super Disc".

I do not like the fact that the S of NES means system, and after CD-ROM says System again. I also prefer to have full names for the systems in the db (i.e. Playstation2 and not PS2). So, "Super Nintendo CD"/"Super Nintendo Entertainment System CD" works for me.

Dont think there is anything exclusive, just enhanced snes games. Has better audio and some with videos added in. I just added them to my snes wheel as a second option for the games with a msu-1 tag

Dumb question but are there any exclusives here? What games are even on the wheel? Wasn't this a one of a kind prototype? What would the wheel even include?

@KlopjerO correct me if Im saying nonsense, but no exclusives, and you can expect SNES games with enhanced audio (real music) amd video sdupport. Users keep creating audio patches for the SNES games and a lot of them actually sound beautiful. For example real orchestral music for Zelda.

Had to deal with some of the former FTP's shenanigans so no new systems added to HyperAI today XD My apologies. Gonna rest and get a fresh energized crack at it tomorrow.

Basically, there were several thousand instances of files where users made a folder structure as though they were trying to pad the length of a highschool essay @_@ For example, stuff like:

Quote

/Unsorted Submissions/_Themes/_Presort/<UserName>/<UserName>'s Super Nintendo Entertainment System files but only the ones with puce overtones in the upper left quadrant of the side panel of the 3D vectorixes space balls shenanigan hat llama popsicle/<UserName>'s Super Nintendo Entertainment System files Carts 2D resized for use with this theme I like from <OtherUser> but that might not work good with other themes and who want to learn to read good and do other things good too/Ys - Supercalifragilisdger yhosrtiuyg/ YOU GET THE IDEA AND NOW MY BRAIN IS BLEEDING WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THIS OMG @_@;;

Essentially folders named like this:

Kuzco+s+poison_96f00a_4663190.jpg

But that's done now :D So back to the actual fun auditing tomorrow! The good news takeaway from that is that I've finally downloaded the entire unsorted FTP and dipping my toes into it I'm excited to start sorting it to help the whole community take advantage.

Ow boy. This seems to be de-railing. Okay. To differentiate. We have the snes cd. And basically no games are known. But the collection that was made by one of our members was based on the efforts of a group of people that are patching existing snes Roms to make use of digital streaming audio. They program this against the MSU chip. Which is what it's says in the system description and is the sage technique uaed for the streating dinitial audie used for thw satell view games.

So no.. its basically a hack job. But it looks and sounds so awesome I thought we should pay some attention to it..

I hope this helps.

Yeah that's cool, still going to include certain major collections like that in the long run so still worth it imo.

My 5, more technical, cents:

I would just simply call it “Super Nintendo Entertainment System MSU-1” as MSU-1 is the official name of this custom virtual enhancement chip. It certainly was inspired by the Nintendo PlayStation because it does what a real CD-ROM add-on would have done (and even more) but as far as I know it has nothing to do with any real CD-based prototypes from a technical standpoint and was made completely custom by byuu (the developer of the bsnes/higan emulator). The only known Nintendo PlayStation prototype hasn’t even surfaced at the time of the development so there even weren’t any “official” technical specifications he could have used for designing it.

It works like an enhancement chip on a cartridge (like the SuperFX chip used for games like Star Fox) and not like a “real” SNES base-unit hardware upgrade or attachment. This decision was made to be able to support the chip even on real SNES hardware through flash cards or other custom created cartridges and therefore it wasn’t designed to support the CD format as a whole in general (again, it’s an enhancement chip for a cartridge and not a disc drive) as it also goes way beyond that like having support for files up to 4GB.

Of course everybody will understand what this system is supposed to be if you just call it SNES CD but from a technical standpoint it’s just wrong. So basically it's simplicity versus accuracy ;)

EDIT: Actually there is a homebrew game specially designed for the real Nintendo PlayStation hardware called “Super Boss Gaiden”. I doubt that we will see a lot homebrew games/hacks which will go this route as well but personally I think that the system "Super NES CD-ROM System" should be reserved for these kind of games and not MSU-1 hacks.

Cheers @CriticalCid. Thanks for the thorough explanation. I just heard about this system yesterday, so still getting knowledgeable about it.

I dig “Super Nintendo Entertainment System MSU-1" and with your input it does make sense. So SNES CD and this system are different actually.

@Avar, thoughts about updating the name from CD to MSU-1?
