dougan78 Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Side note. Buck rogers says its volume 1. I see they released volume 2 for dos. Will need to check that out some time. Thought that was intetesting 2 as I always wondered if there were more of those and there is! Cheers!
dougan78 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Updated Post 1. 54 Wheels/Artwork 3 Added. 848 total wheels. This last batch really got me excited about C64. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Forgotten Realms Vol. I - Pool of Radiance (USA, Europe) First gold box game I ever played. Great game. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Forgotten Realms Vol. III - Secret of the Silver Blades (USA, Europe) I love gold box games. Play them all! They are worth a play! Little Computer People (USA, Europe) (b-savegame) This is like the Sims! Before there were sims games! 2d version of course. Driller (Europe) This game just looked interesting and wanted to mention it so I remember to test it out. Test Drive 2 - The Duel (USA) The test drive games are good ones. Pass any low flying planes lately? Ultima V - Warriors of Destiny (USA) I never played this ultima mutch as I think it had no music on C64 and you needed a C128 so it could play music as it needed the extra memory if I recall. I also remember the flying carpet was cool once you got it. Wasteland (USA, Europe) A lot of people say this is a great game. Never played it another one on my list of worth a play and for me to remember about later. Loving the progress so far. So many games for just 1 system it is hard to remember them all. I hope as I go along this list will help others decide what to play or at least have a good starting point for games to check out. C64 has so much to offer! Cheers!
dougan78 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Forgot to mention this game: Trains (USA, Europe) Great little train simulation game. I played this a TON.
craiganderson Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 amazing work! http://craigandersonthemes.weebly.com/

rfancella Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I am going off scans. The scans are not named. It may be in there some where. I will keep an eye out for it. Have thousands of files to go through yet. Wow. I have been watching this project with anticipation! Making me want to rename all my C64 stuff to No-Intro and check it out! Thanks for all your hard work! Thanks, Ron Code Monkey and all around Command Line geek!If you like what someone has said or done for you, be sure and 'Thank' them. And if they changed your life, send them a Beer!
dougan78 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Updated Post 1. 61 Wheels/Artwork3 added. 909 Wheels. Smash TV (Europe): How can anyone not like Smash TV? Good game on any platform! Street Sports Soccer (USA, Europe) All of the Street Sports games are fun 2 player competitive action! Super Wonderboy (Europe) Wonderboy is a good platformer! Robocop (Europe) Beat'em Up action! Percy the Potty Pigeon (Europe) No idea, it said Potty and has a pigeon. What is not to like? Worth a play anyway! Skate or Die! (USA) Not even the NES could say Skate or Die! Die! Die! Die! Great game! Best version too imho. Fun stuff! There were a few others Bart vs. Space Mutants, Temple of Apshai, Vendetta. So many games.......... I will be dreaming c64 tonight!!! Cheers! Edit cleaned up potty pigeon. Those edges always get me haha.
dougan78 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Oh and Skate or Die 2 had the voice in the intro not 1. The music is still better imho on c64.
dougan78 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Updated Post 1. 89 Wheels/artwork 3 added. 998 total wheels. Wonderboy (Europe): Good platformer. Pirates! (Europe): Great game. Amiga version is better I think. I played this a lot thought. Driving my ship around and sword fighting! Worth some time! L.A. Crackdown (USA): Was quite pleased with how the wheel turned out. So then go look up the game and most give it a .1 out of 5 or a 1 out of 10. Crap game with a decent wheel. lol Super Pipeline (Europe): You are a plumber who makes sure a bunch of water drains to a bucket. Dodging scorpions, spiders and fixing any blockages that may fall if anyone makes it up the ladder! Mission Elevator (Europe): Like this game better than elevator action. If you go in one of the doors you get drunk and all of your controllers are backwards. Tough to play that way! Love it! Creatures (Europe): Stop creatures from getting killed! Or don't.... it makes for a gruesome 8-bit death. Other good ones in there too. Pitfall 2, Predator, Robocop 2, WWF WrestleMania. The list just goes on and on! Cheers!
dougan78 Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 1 Day 2 Updates? That is weird. When matching up these scans I was having a hard time here and there finding stuff I was looking for. So I decided to go through the existing 527 set and rename those. Thanks to whoever made the existing set your work is much appreciated! (DJVJ?). Anyway I don't include compilations of games nor do I include games that that is the only box either so a couple got left out. Updated post 1. 74 Wheels and Artwork 3 added. Milestone achieved: 1072 wheels! Over double the original set! 2 x the C64 love so far! Bounty Bob Strikes Back (Europe) My dad liked this game and it is fun. Considered a classic by many and a great platformer. Bubble Bobble (Europe): Another one released on a lot of platforms and just a good game and multiplayer! Choplifter! (USA, Europe): I just like the C64 version of Choplifter the best. Not sure why I just do. Can play this for hours. Great Giana Sisters, The (Europe) I did not have this game personally, I believe I had the clone version called Super Mario Bros. Which I believe essentially was the same game. Could be wrong... I am only human... Giana is a great game and worth a play! Jumpman (USA, Europe) This and Jumpman Jr. are good games! Definitely worth a play. I was surprised to find it on Colecovision as well! Fun platformer! Kung-Fu Master (Europe) This game is good on Mame or C64. Again I prefer the C64 version for some reason. Something about the music I just like the sound of the SID chip better. Worth a play and a very good game. I think I only ever made it to like the 2nd or 3rd level. It isn't easy! I think I will finish renaming the existing ones. Then refocus on Videos, Manuals, Multi-Disc, etc. Then come back to sorting scans and making artwork again. Switch it up for a bit. Cheers!
craiganderson Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 incredible work! http://craigandersonthemes.weebly.com/
Wally Wonka Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 This is a massive undertaking for one person. Very nice work. I have a question about the roms your are using. You said you are using the No-Intro C64 sets. I have all 3 sets, CRT, NIB and TAP. The (PP) set are in .nib format which winvice does not support. You'll need to convert .nib to g64 to d64. When you successfully convert these file types they still won't work in Winvice. Most of these games use a copy protection of some sort and need to be cracked in order to run on various emulators. I tried many different roms from the No-Intro sets and I couldn't get any of them to run in Winvice or CCS64. Are you using cracked versions and simply renaming them using the No-Intro convention? If so, do you plan on sharing your roms folder when you're done with this project?

If so, do you plan on sharing your roms folder when you're done with this project? Great question. Was womdering about that. I converted 4x4 off road racing just fine to g64 and plays fine no need to go to d64. I planned on filling in the gaps manually from tosec. I like the original discs because no cracktros and trainers. I guess I will test converting them and playing some and see what happens. Doubt I will be able to test them all. Another good question is what is that official 8000 games database going to use? Brolly or wahoobrian would need to chime in as that is supposed to be no intro and I wanted this to be as compatible with the new database as possible. Thanks for your input! Cheers!!
dougan78 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Also winvice does support .tap files 4th and inches loaded fine from tap. Now the disc version did not convert from the nib so it will be hit or miss so testing them all will be the only way to be sure.
dougan78 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Winvice supports crt images. So those nibs will be the crux of things. So should not be so bad. Can fill some disc ones in with tape counter parts possibly. Or rename tosec. I think it is doable. Testing them is daunting.
Wally Wonka Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I don't like most of the intro and crack screens in Tosec roms, but they are needed to work in emulators I guess. I still can't get any of the converted (PP) games to work in Winvice, not even that 4x4 Off Road Racing game. A C64 HyperSpin ready rom set is very far off, but keep up the amazing work on the wheels and stuff. Very useful for custom C64 setups and for other systems like Spectrum and Atari ST. I think I am going to rename all the Tosec roms I have in my setup based on your xml.

Brolly or wahoobrian would need to chime in as that is supposed to be no intro and I wanted this to be as compatible with the new database as possible. Thanks for your input! Cheers!! The upcoming C64 database was primarily sourced from Gamebase, as that already contained the "best/playable" version of each game. We went through the gamebase database and did about 4 stages of filtering out the junk, then the remaining games were renamed to match the "HyperSpin/NoIntro" naming standard. Actually doing some final tweaking to the HS database this week, I had set it aside to work on some other things recently, mainly Atari800. So, the easiest thing to do would be to grab the latest C64 gamebase and then can use the CRC's in the HS database to rename them all. Also, remember that the database is really nothing but the names of the games, year, publisher, etc... If you don't want to source the roms from Gamebase for whatever reason, you could rename whatever you want to match the database names, but obviously the CRC's wouldn't match.... The games are playable using WinVice and the roms have the following extensions: d64, d81, g64, prg, crt, t64, and tap
guyverjay Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Will the database be released ?? I know that the huperspin project has this 'system will be complete before release rule'. But considering it has over 8000 games, I cannot see it being completed until 2018 lol
dougan78 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Updated Post. 63 Wheels/Artwork 3 Added. 1135 games. M.U.L.E. (USA, Europe): Classic! Another must play on c64! Maniac Mansion (USA) (Lucasfilm) Another game the really defined adventure game genre. Worth a play. I remember something about a microwave. Ahh.... Yes be sure to put the hamster in the microwave! Raid over Moscow (Europe) I plaid this a lot it seemed fun at the time. Wizard of Wor (USA, Europe) This is a great 2 player game. I had it first for Atari then I got it for C64. The arcade version really is best imho. Still a fun game. Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders (Germany) Another early Lucasfilm Adventure game. Pretty much for me if it had Lucasfilm on the box I wanted it or played it! Well that finishes off renaming the existing ones mostly there is a SWAT game (Los Angeles Swat and Rambo Part 2, I want to fix the wheels quick and I will probably do Jumpman again so it matches the box, I also want to add that game eventually someone was looking for a few posts back when I find it.) I will worry about that cleanup stuff later. For now it is on to renaming videos, adding videos, using PNGs for title screens. The most visible parts of HS. We have 1135 Wheels/Boxes now we need some vids! Cheers!
