sic Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Can someone pls check if discswap for Last Ninja 1 works, you don´t need to play the game to test it.. Just run the game and choose to start on level 2, when the game begins it asks for side B. Edit: Now I tested Street Rod, wont work either with discswap in hyperlaunch. Works fine if I run it in just WinVice. If someone else wants to test the disc change it is in the beginning of the game, you dont need to play. Is it just my setup or does anyone else have problems with multigames?

sic Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I will check later tonight. Ok, just found something intresting. If I run the game through HyperlaunchHQ, where I audit the games. The discswap actually works, but not when launching in Hyperspin. So It might be my setup afterall, but pls test if you have the same issue as me Edit: Think I nailed it . Changed the "Hide frontend" (TRUE) setting in HyperlaunchHQ and now it seems to work
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Oh and tmnt arcade was glitchy if by glitchy you mean sprite clipping. If i recall it did that. Psycho pigs did that too. Funny how back in the day graphics popping in and out was just ok. Nevermind, just tried it agan and it was fine. I must've hit a wrong key or messed with something the first time. Sometimes it's a guessing game as to what 'fire' key you're supposed to hit or how to bypass those annoying trainer screens.
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Wait, how many dupes are in this set? You mentioned Desert Fox and Thunderblade before. I just checked them and they appear the exact same, so I removed the Pal version for each. Same goes for Test Drive II. We never keep dupes in databases even if the artwork is nice for both lol.
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 /Upload Here/dougan78/c64/Hyperspin/Games Should probably be added to the opening post or something, that's up to mister dougan.
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 I will. Tomorrow. I finished updating everything. Everything through today is up. Only thing missing: Box for sorcerer of castle claymorgue. Box for stroker. Box for sex games. HL media is incomplete and will be. Manuals are in complete and will be. Other than that 1400+ wheels, vids, covers. Some pngs for vids. Whew. Roms all in my c64/hyperspin/games updated too. I changed a couple namez sorry for any confusion. And i like the art so i like the dupes.
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 The entire wheel is much better now with Zork on there btw. That was a much needed wheel. It really makes the whole thing. Now to test that ultimate wizard game out. Cheers!
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Last update on here tonight I promise. Updated Post 1. Game list updated from current XML. Added #9 location of renamed roms in my FTP. Adjusted as I changed naming from the no intro based sets to naming based gamebase with no intro adds. Ok. Now off to test ultimate wizard for real this time. No dime 333 I did not forget your dan who dares games, those are on my list and will be in the next update!
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 This is weird but "Johnny (Europe)" is actually Snoopy. No idea why the cover says that, maybe a weird licensing thing but I researched into it and even got the game myself. Same goes for "Mayday Squad Heroes (Europe)", that is what the cover says but the actual game is "Mayday Squad! (Europe)". I fixed their titles in your artwork folders and uploaded the games too. There are no boxes for those porn games lol. I made generic ones myself but they're not worth sharing. I did the wheel for Voodoo Castle however, not sure if you did that one already. I've been grabbing all the games you had made artwork for but didn't have in the db (using an audit tool), a few of them aren't available though. I will upload them all to your Games folder so you can get them. I know you said you just liked their artwork and did them before checking the games themselves, so I'm checking them out for you then to make sure Here are the ones that I didn't add to my db but kept your artwork: Griotrap (Europe) -- rare, no dumps online or gamebase Helistad (Europe) -- rare, no dumps online or gamebase Nederlandsche Spoorwegen 3737 -- rare, no dumps online or gamebase Rescue 17 (Europe) -- rare, no dumps online or gamebase Red Storm Rising (USA, Europe) (143.U3) -- dupe for Red Storm Rising, Gamebase just has one version Game Killer (Europe) -- some kind of sprite hacking tool, not an actual game
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 I updated the database to have Gridtrap and renamed the artwork on the ftp and added a video .png. It looks like Griotrap no? Well I guess it could be a D. Thanks brolly.
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Yeah c64 did weird stuff with licensing. I added Mayday Squad! (Europe) to the database. Thanks for renaming the artwork, I renamed the hl media folder too. I have voodoo castle and the box. Unless you have a more glorious white lettered voodoo castle? Thanks for uploading them to the games folder. Johnny looks like a snoopy. Probably did not want to pay for the Name. Haha. As far as some of the missing covers I was hoping Gigapig would see this and chime in. He said he had a bunch of stuff in his attic. I am sure he has Stroker Sex Games Sorcerer of Castle Claymorge Just kidding gig on the porn ones! Cheers! And thanks for looking things over.
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 BIG UPDATE (Hope you don't mind me tampering and uploading to your folder, dougan. Just sharing the work you were going to get to ) Added all the missing game disks, lots of side B's and such were missing before. All games now have boxes too. The ones which had no official cover art, I just made some generic covers for. They'll do for now. Everything has been renamed properly and now matches, I triple checked everything. Lots of mismatching before between boxes and wheels. Added some other games too like all the Indiana Jones titles, used the Amiga wheel art for those. Fixed some typos as well that I encountered. REDOWNLOAD the following from dougan's Commodore 64 folder: Games Wheels Box Art Database Delete what you had before so thare are no dupes or strange mixups. Nothing was removed or wasted from this setup either. Just moved some of the artwork to a non-db folder that had no dumps available online. Took a couple days to get all that finished, corrected and tidy. I'm done interfering now since this isn't my project to stick my nose into, just wanted it all neat for my own setup too before more games got added and thought I'd share it
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 I am good at starting projects. Then i run into issues finishing them or keeping things clean. You should see my garage. Thanks.
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 lol I certainly don't blame you, this system is a monster's butthole full of tons of rare stuff people seem to find in European garage sales. It's not like dealing with Playstation 2 where you just grab a working iso from a known game, find high quality boxes and be done with it. I forgot to mention that this site helped me a ton in finding stuff (set the drop down box to Commodore games): http://www.oldgamesfinder.com/
DamnedRegistrations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Woops, one last thing I forgot. Here is a list of the missing wheels currently after my tampering: Johnny Reb (USA, Europe) Johnny Reb II (Europe) Mad Mix Game - The Pepsi Challenge (Europe) Percy (Europe) Space-Pilot II (Europe) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles World Tour (USA) Zork - The Undiscovered Underground (USA) (Side A) Zork - The Undiscovered Underground (USA) (Side Zork Quest I - Assault on Egreth Castle (USA) (Side A) Zork Quest I - Assault on Egreth Castle (USA) (Side Zork Quest II - The Crystal of Doom (USA) (Side A) Zork Quest II - The Crystal of Doom (USA) (Side
zxspecticle Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 It would be great to find a rom set without all those silly trainers attached - One of the main selling points of No-Intro initiative is that you are playing the game exactly as it was released back in the day. "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time" Abraham Lincoln, (attributed) 16th president of US (1809 - 1865)
dougan78 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 The problem with the no intro based sets as far as I can tell is they are exact copies, they are too good(the .crt and .tap ones are fine it is the disk ones). The problem with that is they employ various copy protection schemes. The emulators don't have 100% accurate drive emulation so when it goes to read the disk that has that copy protection it runs into issues. WallyWonka and I looked at using the NIBs and I have successfully converted some of those over to .g64. Rather than go through all those files too, I opted to go with the gamebase ones as they were easily available, have the copy protection removed and most if not all work. You cannot get 100% success converting all the NIBs anyway their site says it is about 95%(that probably doesn't include if the game was converted fine, the possibility that Winvice wont be able to handle it). I also read somewhere that CCS64 did better on the drive emulation(could be wrong) and I wanted to avoid mixing emulators as that was my c64 emu of choice back in the day but Winvice is so much better imho. Though, I do agree with you and when I was a kid seeing the crack screens was cool. Now when you just want to play the game, I really could care less if Orion was ripping off cracked games and posting them as their own, or greets to whoever(ok I still enjoy some of the fairlight ones) I don't even care for the trainers, games brutally difficult where you get no where for hours on end is how games were back then, I love it.
gigapig Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Holy ftp busting Bat Man, this is a whopping download. While I am waiting for it to finish I had a little look in the game folder. I'm a little shocked to find a lot of "My" favourites missing . No Suicide Express, No Frak! where's Tales of the Arabian Nights? Why have you not catered to my needs? SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Forgive me if I am wrong on this one. At the moment I believe I have CS64 or something doing my C64 games. What is the benefit of me changing to this format and Emu? Do the games run much better? Or even better, do they not need loading times?? Much thanks for all the work on this guys, I can see a mountain of goods has been done to make this work Simply Austin's YouTube
sic Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Dougan78: Just saw that Barbarian (By Psygnosis) has the wrong boxcover, that cover is for the much better Barbarian game from "Palace Software" which seems to be missing right now. And the "Emumovies_Vidoes_to_HS" is renaming the wrong video also, if it is OK I can remove that entry in your script. Palace Sofwares Barbarian : http://www.gamebase64.com/game.php?id=617&d=18 Psygnosis Barbarian : http://www.gamebase64.com/game.php?id=616&d=42 Thnx once again for making all this work for us!

Playing with trainers and cracks is actually like playing it in the good old days, as most of us had "prepared" games. I love the crack intros, the tunes and the scrollers bring back many memories. Quiet often the intros are better than the actual game itself. Well maybe thats just me
