dougan78 Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 Update: things are going well. based on the fact the new db is based on gamebase roms i have been working some spreadsheets and hope to have the following posted this week: - Xml darabase with another round of renaming done - videos and gamebase pngs renamed so we have something to look at in the monitor screen. - wheels renamed - hl media folders renamed - batch file to rename most if not all gamebase roms included here to work with setup - 2d box images renamed Cheers!
dougan78 Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Ok. I am pretty stoked. I just tested on my setup. I finished renaming stuff and copied wheels and vids for multi disc/tape games and named stuff. So first wheel of multi disc game has vid wheel box and all others have vid and wheel. Some games got left out i did artwork for because no rom matched up, not many though. 1300+ wheels though with multi disc. I tested a few games too! Alas i wont be able to test them all to make sure it is 100% but that is what i have you all for! I need to double check wheel sizes as some are too big, a few not many. Will be back at it later this week so look for something useable this week for sure! Did not test hyperpause media and will not before release. After i get this done, i will be back on to sorting scans and making artwork as soteadsheets and renaming 1000s of files, some by hand, got old quick. Cheers! !!! edit: the wheels look better than i thought they would too. High res scans help.
dougan78 Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 OK the dimensions of this one are 110x175. So why is the V so like gigantor? I have a couple that are smaller height wise that do this. Am I missing something? Edit: never mind copied and pasted it to a 400x175 canvas and it looks normal Weird. Whatever.
dougan78 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Which is the better way? Leaving it at 236x175? The 236x175 image on a 400x175 Transparent Background? It would seem to me having them all at 400x175 would be the way to go to help eliminate the overlapping and giagantor resizing HS does with square wheels. Any input? Hmm. It looks like by posting it on here it is easier for me to tell that image magick did resize it. I tested this command on my c64 wheels for the hope of dumping them all on 400x175 transparent backgrounds and centering them: mogrify -path path2_destination_folder -format png -trim +repage -background none -resize 400x175 -gravity center -extent -extent 400x175 *.png I don't need it to resize maybe? I just need it to slap the existing image on a transparent background. Hmm.. If anyone has any ideas on that. I know photoshop has scripting but that looked more difficult than this command. WHen I look at it in photoshop it takes up the whole height so it is just the forum. I think I will leave all my wheels with this so they all are 400x175 unless someone says it is better not too. I like that mogrify command was helpful on ripping through 1380 wheels. Cheers. Rambling of an insane c64 person.
brolly Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Do the logos as large as you can and keep them that way, in the end it's a matter of running BBB's script on that folder to get everything properly sized there's no need to use third party tools or try to reinvent the wheel since the current method works just fine.

Well that was just a sampler and i think that wheel came from the spectrum setup that zxspecticle had. Now what is this bbb script? Link? I must have missed that thread. Thanks for the info!

dougan78 Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 Update Post 1 to reflect the new naming changes and a list of games available in the database. Removed all my old C64 stuff from the FTP and re-uploaded everything: 12,268 files - 7.21gb. In my FTP folder you will find a C64 folder whith everything you need. The Hyperspin folder has all of the Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch media you need. I have also included several batch files to help getting switched over quicker. Ther are in the Batch files Folder. Database: Generic database has been included matching the Roms/Artwork. Wheels(61.8MB): All wheels are included for all of the ones listed in the database including multi-disk game wheels Artwork 3(497MB): All boxes are included for all of the ones listed in the database Artwork3 only works for the first game of a multidisk game. Video(3.39MB): Gamebase Screenshots PNG files for games are also available for most of the games in the database. Hyperlaunch/Media/Artwork(2.6GB): - Front Folder: Fronts of Boxes and Cassette Covers - Back Folder: Bacs of Boxes and Cassette Covers (for cassette games this is typically the instructions) - Inserts: Maps, VHS, Wheels, Stones, Stickers, etc. That came with the game - Media: Tapes or Disc media the games came on HyperLaunch/Media/Manuals(4.03gb): Folders named after the games. Where PDF manuals were readily available they were put in here renamed to the Rom name(muti-disk/tape first one only). Also included is raw scans as ManualX.jpg to be combined at a later date to a PDF. Some of the PDF manuals are just cassette front/backs so there is some over lap here with the Artwork folder. PDF manuals were sourced from various download sources. Batch Files: - Emumovies_Vidoes_to_HS.bat: Download all of the C64 vids at emu movies. Put this batch file in the folder you downloaded the movies to. It will make a Renamed folder and rename all appropriate emumovies movies over to the new setup. - wget_gb64v11.bat: Download and install wget. Make a folder and put this batch file in that folder. This will use wget to download all of the Gamebase64 V11 Roms if you do not have them already. - GameBase_Roms_to_HS_Naming.bat: Extract all of your gamebase roms to a folder so all of the T64 and D64 files are in 1 folder. Run this batch file. It will make a Renamed folder. It will then copy the appropriate Gamebase 64 roms over to the new setup. Games you will need to add/find and rename manually yourself: Wizardry (Europe) Space Pilot (Europe) Swordslayer (Europe) Advanced Basketball Simulator (Europe) (Budget) American Road Race (Europe) Cosmic Causeway - Trailblazer II (Europe) Battle Field (Europe) Ultimate Golf (Europe) Games that I could not find that I have wheels/artwork but no roms and may be added to the database later: Firelords (Europe) Frosty's Busy Night! (Europe) (Unl) Fruitbank (Europe)Super Nudge 2000 (This is in Gamebase will be added later) Game Killer (Europe) Griotrap (Europe) Insector Hecti in The Interchange (Europe) Johnny (Europe) Micro Rythm (Europe) Mayday Squad Heroes (Europe) Nederlandsche Spoorwegen 3737 Off the Hook (USA) Rescue 17 (Europe) Trivial Pursuit - Commodore Baby Boomer (USA, Europe) Trivial Pursuit - Commodore Genus-Edition (USA, Europe) Z-Pilot (Europe) Helistad (Europe) As you can see I have pain stakingly gone through over 12,000 files. I wanted to help people make a transition to a larger set as easy as possible. This set has all of the old games from the current 527 best of database plus all of the additions which is close to double of what we had before. If some are off or something is not correct your constructive feedback is appreciated. I have not tested disk swapping so I have no idea if it works so I won't be able to help you with that. Feel free to remove the multi-disc ones out (leaving disk 1), I left those in for my testing purpose. I made a best effor to match up Wheels,Roms,Artwork3,Videos. Thank you Inquisitom for making HyperT00ls it was a great help when I needed to go through and make sure i had wheels, artwork3, etc for all of the games in my database. Thank you Brolly for helping me with my initial folder structure early on for the hyperlaunch media I wanted to have. Thank you Wahoobrian for feedback on different games and all your help. Thank you Goofers for helping out with box scans it is really appreciated! Thank you ZXSpecticle for doing the ZX Spectrum Hyperspin Ready stuff which then helped my C64 progress alot. Thanks to all the artwork contributors for all the systems as I was able to use artwork from many different systems to pull this all together on top of making ALOT of artwork myself! Long live the C64!
