bclout Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Oh yeah, that reminded me: retroarch_joyconfig.exe did not work (could not find joystick#0-error), and with retroarch_phoenix there was also a problem, but cant remember what, sorry.
dougan78 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks. That is rather lame. The cant select multiple inputs for a single button or joystick direction is lame too. If the shaders werent so cool i would not even deal with it. Thanks for the help.
Styphelus Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Having an issue with Intellivision, coleco vison and a few others. I'm using the mess core but retroarch won't read my cfg file for it. I named it intv.cfg since that's the name mess uses. However it always defaults to retroarch.cfg. If I name it Mattel Intellivision.cfg, It will load the overlay specified in the cfg file but it will go to the Retroarch menu screen instead of loading the game.
dougan78 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Ok. I have most everything working for my first system which is SNES. What a PIA. My start and select keys use 1 and 5. When I put in 1 and 5 it doesn't take them. As in they are set in xpadder, and they do not work in retroarch (all other keys do) and I can move around etc if a game autostarts. So I am unable to effectively use start and select. Does retroarch need like num 1 or num 2 or are the number keys reserved and you cannot reassign those? I checked my config and I do not believe I have 1 or 5 set anywhere else for a input. Thanks for any help. RA Noob...
bclout Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Hi dougan, please use "num5" and "num1" in the cfg file for select and start (instead of only "5" and "1"). This worked for me.
sucramjd Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 yep you name them num1, num5 etc, this also had me stummped for awhile, also set the configs to read only has it was changing them back to default. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dougan78 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks for the help. For the older stuff i like to be able to use my control panel or xbox controllers and i dont always keep my batteries charged. Now that this part is defeated i am sure the rest will be a snap. Picking shaders will be time consuming. I am a make it look better kind of person vs like the original and for snes 2hqx seems to woek ok. Cheers!

Glad you got that sorted, only thing thats got me stuck is finding a 3do set that actually works, might just stick with fourdo for that [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dougan78 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Updating to the latest nightly is very important if using a keyboard. I was using the equals key for a input and that cannot be mapped in 1.0.0.2. Yes i know the instructions say to use the nightly.
suspendedhatch Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Would anyone care to post before/after shader screen shots? Is it just to make your HDTV look like an old CRT? I've been using RetroArch for a while but never explored this aspect of it and haven't been able to find comparison pics. I've tried video settings in emulators that make pixel outlines looked curved. Is that what shaders are? That's cool but I can't stand what it does to text in RPG's so I usually revert back to the default.
gigapig Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Would anyone care to post before/after shader screen shots? You may have seen mine before, but here I have done EarthBound on SNES. No shaders, looks a bit fuzzy wuzzy. On, AA and geom-curved
gigapig Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Just noticed something. Having the shader passes in a certain order makes a difference to the look. Here are the same shaders with AA as the first pass.

Awakened Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I think it looks great wheres the crt-geom-curved.cg? i cant seem to find it in my shaders. It's just called crt-geom.cg now. You can turn on curvature in the shader's parameters.
sucramjd Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 It's just called crt-geom.cg now. dougan78 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I was cranking along swapping systems over in utter bliss then needed to use the mednafen cores and all of them appear to cause retroarch to crash. Updated to latest nightly cores, retroarch, redist. Same thing. Anyone else have issues? Am i missing something?
Fromlostdays Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 If I had to guess Dougan, having done it myself, when you set up in HyperlaunchHQ you may have accidentally pointed to the wrong mednafen cores for systems. There's a bunch of them. Edit: I've been busy on other stuff so this has taken a backseat but I did notice that the newer nightlys now come stock with certain config files named after the core and with the dll extension in the name. I think they were posting about it on the HL forums, people missing configs etc. I don't know what the RetroArch devs are is doing, but I do know that you need to keep those files in tact. You can save your own configs, but don't alter the naming of the ones already in the config folder. Walter:beerglass:
strawdog Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I am trying to get Mednafen PSX to work, I am using RetroArch v1.0.0.2-64 bit version. i have all bios files needed present in my system folder. When i select a .cue file to load RetroArch crashes, the dos window flashes ups some info but it disappears too fast for me to read, is there a way to make the dos window stay open or is that info stored in a file somewhere? once i can read that i may be able to fix it myself. if not, i can at least post the info here ! thanks

strawdog Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I have the same issue, but when i launch them though hyperlaunch they load fine strange eh. nope, no joy for me! can anyone tell me which version of RetroArch is most stable for win 7 64 bit? i've tried nightly builds (wont load due to a dll missing) i have tried stable builds (latest) - RA closes as soon as i select the .cue or .zip file ( the DOS window closes too fast for me to read the errors -i am specifically trying to get PSX games running through this, any help would be greatly received, i have spent 2 night and a bout 4 pints of coffee on this sucker ! thanks THIS IS THE '.retroarch-game-history.txt' file.... Can you load the .cue files in other emulators? Sometimes you need to open the .cue in a text editor and make sure the filenames in it match the (.bin, .iso, ect.) files you have.
