You don't, I found out the name of the database and that should be it.

You just need all the Hyperlaunch bits, like process close, bezel and all that.

MEmu = Steem
MEmuV = v3.4.1
MURL = http://sourceforge.net/projects/steemsse/
MAuthor = ghutch92
MVersion = 2.0
MCRC = 4DB34981
iCRC = 1E716C97
MID = 635038268925531896
MSystem = "Atari ST"
;----------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Notes:
; You must manually set a TOS using the emulator first. The UK version is preferred.
; If a game does not work properly check to see if there is a patch available.
; Be sure to read the controller options very carefully since sometimes your controls
; might only work if Scroll Lock is on or Num Lock is off. This needs to be set from
; within the emulator.
;----------------------------------------------------------------------------
StartModule()
FadeInStart()

settingsFile := modulePath . "\" . moduleName . ".ini"
Fullscreen := IniReadCheck(settingsFile, "Settings", "Fullscreen","true",,1)

7z(romPath, romName, romExtension, 7zExtractPath)

params := "db=""GBST v3.1d"""
Run(executable . " " . params . " fn=""" . romName . """", emuPath)

WinWait("ahk_class Steem Window")
WinWaitActive("ahk_class Steem Window")

executable:="Steem SSE 3.4.1.exe"

FadeInExit()
Process("WaitClose", executable)
7zCleanUp()
FadeOutExit()
ExitModule()

RestoreEmu:
 Send, {Pause}
Return

The HLHQ emu executable has to point to "GBLauncher.exe"

i had to add the red line you see above otherwise hlhq just blows through the module because executable is originally gamebaselauncher..

does that seem right

it is working now :)

hit another snag

there are about 70 games that launch with the help of a HD file of the same name as rom

i assume this file was created by the gamebaseST team

when launching these games via the command line above...they do not load

i will keep working on it

the other games load great@!

I had ST working wthout any issues on RA. The main problem I had was the file format. Seems it only likes a certain file format which mine was not. It was a shame as the names was right for my DB, but all the correct format games I could find was incorrect. I did a FATMATCH and sorted some of the games out. Emu currently disabled due to lack of wheel art... I hate no wheel art :(

Cool. ALL of the games were auto-loading (i.e. no clicking of disks inside emulator etc)??

Using Steem? Because unfortunately STEEM does not autoload all of them.....

thanks

I think it only supports the Hatari core, so that might be a good place to start. I think it supports .ipf ROMs but I'm not sure. This is one of those consoles I never got around to setting up properly.

Should be able to share pretty soon. Here is what I am going to use for now. Better than nothing and "complete" enough for me to keep on the wheel.....

This will all be explained in more detail but just a heads up: I will update when upload to share etc.....might not be today :).. and I have all of the stuff renamed etc so dont download from gamebaseST...

Details:

0) Thank you to horseyhorsey for pointing me to the gamebaseST site and the help with the command line for the new module.

1) Uses GamebaseST Frontend as the "emulator" because some games ONLY load via GamebaseST. Take ALien Syndrome as an example. If somebody gets it to load via Steem directly please let me know. I could not. Tried multiple different roms. And the GamebaseST loads all of the disks for you as far as i can tell....:)

2) Uses the Roms from the Gamebase site as I think the modified them to autoload/multiple disk etc...

3) Kinda quirky to set up. For example GameBaseST needs the roms to be in the folders as they come in the download. (Each rom type in own folder etc). Youll see. And then you will also need the Roms in another folder for HLHQ to "see" but should be able to use fake "game.txt" roms for that in order to save space....(i have this to share)

4) I removed the (Pasti Original) wheels from the Wheel folder (but they are dupes) and dont auto load so no biggie i think... I also removed the wheels that are associated with games that load via HD/boot files because they do not load via command line (total about 60 games). I tried to get the module to load them via ControlSend commands etc (and thus load the HD/boot file games)..but GamebaseST is very picky and I could not get it to work consistently. I will ask at the atariST forum for help with this and update if I figure out the HD games etc.

5) Missing about 150 snaps still but added something to the theme for those as well....

6) Not great but it is what it is....I am happy with it for now.

7) So all in all....there are >2500 games and most should auto load.

It's possible to get ST games to autoload by naming a folder on the disk "Auto" and putting the prg file you want to run in there. I've done that with several games while working on the database as part of the HS Project. In case you still have some that aren't auto-loading....

Nice work!

Most of the disk images contain a prg file that runs the game. You would only see it on the games that don't auto boot... When you navigate through the windows... (Like in old Win 3.1). Double-click on the prg file, and the game will start up.

Do you have a list of the ones that don't autoboot? Those can be ones I pay attention to, and try to get to work as I'm going through the roms. I'm also sourcing most of the games from GameBase (if available), since as you can tell, most are already set to autoboot. There are a lot of variables though, TOS versions, ST vs STE, CPU clock speed, memory... That all need the right settings in order to play correctly.

Good times! :)

These are the games that gamebaseST has associated with a separate HD disk. I cant get them to auto boot outside of gamebaseST. I have not tested every one but every HD-type game that I have tested does not auto-boot...or boot at all...

This is just the list. In real life there are two disks... like

Ok, I just messed with the first one, Alien Blast (HD). I got it to run from a virtual hard disk in both Steem and Hatari.

Needed to organize a folder using the files from the Alien Blast (HD).zip file into this format:

Alien Blast (HD) {Folder name}

--Contents of Harddisk.zip

--Auto {Folder}

--Boot.st

In Steem, open the disk manager and make sure there are no floppy disks in Drive A or B. Set the hard disk to drive C:, and point drive C to the parent folder - Alien Blast (HD). Then set the dialog to boot from Drive C when Drive A is empty.

After you reboot Steem, it will run the contents of the Alien Blast (HD) folder as if it were a hard drive attached to the ST, and you can play the game.

I'll be working on enhancing the Hatari and Steem modules for all the parameters required to get ALL games to run (floppy or hard disk), but I don't have an ETA on when I'll get all this wrapped up. Will take awhile....

Anyways, I hope this helps in the meantime. Let me know if you have any problems getting this to work.

i am pretty much done with what i can do. So for those 61 games, for me, they do not load. But it is a very small percentage of the overall games. So I am ok with that. Perhaps someone else can "fix" those games when they get a chance. :) If anybody wants a copy of of what i have in my hyperspin setup... let me know...
