nlash Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 As I said in another thread, I'm going to be making a set of widescreen themes for all of the consoles and I thought I'd submit a new post with WIPs here as I make my way through them. Please give feedback! My goal is to focus on the hardware/logos and have a big, fun video overlay as well. I've got about 6 or 7 started, but a couple nearly done. Nintendo 64: Neo Geo CD I don't have the software or know-how to make .swf animations yet, but I'm trying to keep them relatively simple. I'd like to have the backgrounds some something (scroll or something like that), but I'll have to add that later. EDIT: Video of the themes and widescreen logos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pe3YZ2htOE The zips are going up on the FTP now for: Atari Jaguar Neo Geo CD N64 NES Gamecube Wii 3DO 32X Sega CD Dreamcast Genesis Master System Saturn Playstation PS2 SNES TG16 TG CD (Turbo Duo theme) I also dropped a folder with logos to be used on widescreen too. If you guys see any problems with them, let me know. If I make any changes to any of the themes, or if I make a new theme for another system, I'll post it here. Ignore my main menu videos, haven't gone through those yet and made them nice/correct.
relic Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 these are terrific mate love what your doing although a lil anime would be nice also the snk logo part could be blue to match 100%
zero dreams Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Love everything about it. I'd ditch every main menu theme I have for a setup like this. Hope you share, cause I'd definitely like to have these. Think I'm gonna start stalking your ftp folder. Edit: Maybe make the DC video border larger. relic Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 excellent work every main menu theme should be like this it gives it a proper real look and charecter to it rather then cartoony style also nintendo part could be coloured in red just a suggestion or even the 64 part keep up the high standard artwork genious themes 100%
nlash Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 Updated DC: Love everything about it. I'd ditch every main menu theme I have for a setup like this. I'd first like to get the bulk done since I'm going back and making changes with each new console I finish. Hopefully there will be some parity across the themes this way.
chartwel Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 These are looking pretty sweet. They will be on my main menu for sure
Pyramid_Head Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I love the Dc theme! Can't wait to have these on my main wheel
wahoobrian Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Awesome work! These will be on my wheel! Thanks for sharing!
Hyperion Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I love the N64 and DC video overlays. I like it how you integrated the respective systems design. My first cocktail cab: The Hyper Arcade Entertainment System Win 7 64bit | i5 3570K Overclocked to 4.2GHz | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 | GTX 970 Strix | Samsung 250GB 840 Evo SSD + 8x4TB green drives in RAID 5 for XBMC/KODI
nlash Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 32X: Working on PSX now. Sony makes ugly consoles.
Hyperion Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Is there any special way you are getting around the lack of widescreen support for Hyperspin? Are you just making your images skinny so they are stretched back to the correct aspect on a widescreen display? Correct, just making them at 1920x1080 and the very last step is just resizing to 1024x768. Everything just gets squished and stretches back out when you run HS on a wide display.
relic Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 i dont know how you do it but its genious 100%
nlash Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Saturn WIP: The logos are a hassle, since I have to remake them from scratch.
Pyramid_Head Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 These are very cool! Any chance you can do an alternate Dreamcast theme using the black Sega Sports console? I love that console! http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_84--XCXrG7Y/TJd8bX3217I/AAAAAAAAEhk/IRGakHPQNeY/s1600/DSCF4207.jpg

dark13 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Saturn WIP: The logos are a hassle, since I have to remake them from scratch. For Saturn you can use use this Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
nlash Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 For Saturn you can use use this I'll try that out. Thanks.
nlash Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 N64, Neo Geo CD and Dreamcast are on the FTP in my folder. Pretty simple-no animations yet. If I make any more changes to those, I'll post it here.
