Quick black Dreamcast preview (for Hunk_4th):

post-54807-142870585397_thumb.jpg

It's a bit logo-heavy for my tastes at the moment, but there aren't many good shots of the black controller to use. Might just alter the white controller from my previous theme, but that doesn't sound particularly fun.

That is pretty damn sweet!! Thanks for making this man. Yeah, I couldn't find a good pic of the controller either. I own the actual system and controller if you need a good pic but I suck at taking pictures lol. The sports logo though does fit in. I'm sure it would look right with the white pad.

Doesn't look like it. I'll make one that matches the other themes I've done.

If you need anything I've still got all the files from that CD-i flash animation. Just let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

I'm only just getting into all things Hyperspin but have to say, this theme is my favourite so far! Awesome work nlash, keep it up, we all appreciate the hours of hard work and talent that go into these kinds of things.

Just a suggestion if I may... Eventually, what would the chances of a version of these themes which encorporate multiple console versions? For example, a single Sega MegaDrive / Genesis or Master System theme which had the different versions of that console fading between eachother.

Once again, Awesome work, keep it up!

Edit: watched that video again. I really like how clean and simple these are! I really hope you plan on doing more. Any images we can hunt down to make it easier?

I have not a widescreen lcd, where is the style 4:3 ???

You did read the threads title right?

"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."

Sorry to bump this thread, but did the handheld themes get made? or are they still in the process of being done? These are the best themes i have ever seen for Hyperspin (for Consoles) Would love a full set with GBA,GB,GBC,DS,PSP,Lynx,NGP,NGPC,GG,VBoy,Game.com included.

Absolutely. My favorite HyperSpin main menu themes EVER. I mean EVER. I'd probably swap out the backgrounds with most of the ones Gibbawho is working on is his project and my main menu would be almost complete. Finish off the rest of the existing systems and be a very happy man. For my own personal tastes, I don't know of any that can beat his. :adore:

...Still stalking :creep:

btw DamnedRegistrations, I think you've done a wonderful job on those themes and if you do anything in the same style, I'll definitely use it :)

Quick question, this seems as good a thread as any to ask it.

When people use HS in widescreen, do they tend to resize all their wheel/cartridge/box art to compensate for the stretch?

There doesn't appear to be anyway to force resize artwork, so i'd imagine this would have to be done to someone's entire library for it to look right.

I'm asking because I'm working on a set of widescreen themes and i'm wondering how much horizontal space i should leave for the box art etc.

If you take apart Nlash's themes it looks as though they were created on a widescreen canvas and then kinda resized to the HS 1024x768 dimensions. I use HS on a widescreen and they seem to resize very very nicely. I tend to just use the standard 1024x768 canvas and I keep the aspect ratio of whatever the art is, so everything stays as it should look. That's how I resize artwork anyway. Definitely not an expert.

I know how the rest of the theme artwork is dealt with for widescreen... I'm only asking about the wheels, game boxes, and carts, which can't be resized by the theme xml. By default, all that will look stretched in widescreen because widescreen is just 1024 x 768 but stretched. unless you replace every single wheel art, box art, and cart with 80% width versions they'll all look stretched in widescreen regardless of your theme's settings.

So do people tend to resize them? or do they all just deal with that little bit not being proper aspect?

It also seems to me, even if you did replace all your game artwork ... cd's would probably still look weird if the theme has them spinning.

I've resized all my wheel/box/game art and it looks great. My themes are the only thing stretched at the moment (waiting for a complete set). Try using a program called BIMP Lite, which can be used for batch image resizing.
